A woman at a theater I was chatting with said if they were really your (her) friends they would tell you (her) what’s really happening… and in the telling the farce would crumble - when even one decent person starts to say “I/we were all acting out a mean charade on you…” these ways crumble.

A bunch of hypocritical two faced sheep the lot of them! Hilly did end up getting her comeuppance with Skeeter telling her to be careful because of chapter 12 and Skeeter's mother telling Hilly off because she had read the book along with Hilly's own mother and her former maid Yule May, whom Hilly had arrested for pawning a ring. Yule May read the book in jail to the other inmates and they all laughed.

This happened to me a year before the pandemic. It was my brother’s birthday. I baked brownies for him. I was trying to reach him and he wouldnt answer his phone. I messaged his girlfriend. She said they are out doing errands. I asked her where I could meet them, I will quickly hand the tray of freshly-baked brownies. They (my bro, his girlfriend, my other bro, and other family members) were in the midst of dinner at a local restaurant. They felt bad they didn’t include me. They were only including me as I delivered the tray of brownies at the restaurant where they were dining. I said hello to everyone and then left. I wasn’t comfortable in accepting their last-minute invitation-the time I was handing my bro the baked goods.

And Minnie liked working for her because Celia treated her as an equal and saw Minnie as a friend(the only one she had in Jackson no thanks to Hilly the brat), also Minnie helped Celia when she had the miscarriage, and while taking care of Celia, Celia confessed about the other two before. Minnie realized how hard Celia had tried to integrate into society, and felt a kindred spirit with her.

That lady (Celia)with the pie was so good hearted. That woman who was throwing the party had an ugly soul(Hilly). She didn't like that woman because she married her ex boyfriend even though she had her own husband at that point. Celia had just moved there and had no idea Hilly was her husband's ex-girlfriend and just wanted to fit in with the other wives and Hilly happened to be the head honcho and turned everyone against her. When Celia made the comment my maid Minny made the pie and Hilly's face dropped was because Minny used to be her mother's maid and when he mother became elderly she moved in with her and the maid came along. One day it there was a terrible storm and Minny had to go to the bathroom. At Hillys house black ppl were not allowed to use the indoor bathroom, they had one outside and it was dangerous to go out so Hillys mom told her to just use the regular bathroom. Hilly threw a fit refusing so Minny tried to sneak in to go but was caught and Hilly fired her for it and used her influence to make sure no one else in town would hire Minny but this woman-Celia did not talk to anyone so wasnt influenced and got a job working for her. So to say the least Hilly was pissed she didn't ruin Minny's life for using the bathroom her family used.
@kittyjulia2690

SPOILER ALERT It's a great explanation, but the last part is not entirely right. Hilly's face dropped when she heard Minnie made the pie because after Hilly fired her, Minnie came back with an "apology pie" making it look like she wanted to apologise to her. Hilly made Minnie serve her the pie and she loved it, so wanted to share with her mother, but Minnie refused saying it was specially made only for Hilly to enjoy. Hilly then got mad and have her mother some, but before the mother could eat it Minnie confessed that it was a pie made with her feces (she didn't want the mum to eat it because she had always been good to her). After that, one of the main characters (I don't remember the name) wrote a book with the maids stories and included the "apology pie" one and everyone knew who the stpry was about. That's why I think that when Celia mentions Minnie's pie they all laugh. Hope it helps😊

@@flenif2247 my daughter experienced something like that when she was still in well it’s grades one through six. I think I forget how it works here. It’s what they call primary school because her friends the kids who would play with her were Ethiopian you know when she first came home and she was really upset. She asked me why the other girls treated them the way they did and I had to explain to her what racism was because like she didn’t quite understand and when I was her age, I didn’t either understand, how people can hate another people just on the colour of their skin to me. People were people they still are for the most part. Those girls became her best friends when she told me the others wouldn’t let those girls play with them. I got her her own. I guess you call it the equivalent of a jump rope, so that she and her friends could play but the thing about racism it’s the grown-ups who teach it and they’re the ones who spread it around to their children imagine a child growing up going to the playground at five years of age they see a kid there the kids quiet doesn’t say anything but the five-year-old kid knows exactly what that kid wants to do. He wants to play on the seesaw so he says you wanna play on the seesaw kid and then another kid right across the way near the ground/sandbox makes the comment don’t play with him. He’s dumb five-year-old turns around and says he doesn’t look dumb to me. so the kids decides she’s lacking. An education says oh he can’t speak he’s dumb so the five year-old turns around and says no I think you’re dumb. I understand him just fine. And I think that’s the problem with humanity very small minds very small gene pool and a very small attitude so much so that they feel that the only way they can be big is by belittling others and bullying others. I don’t know about you, but I find that sad , but that is the way of the world unfortunately.

My in-laws did this to me & my bby’s father. Resulting in our bby’s birthday parties being pretty empty of other cousins & family members but never empty of love. Their hate towards our relationship & us as individuals bled onto our bby. They didn’t celebrate her into this world. That hurt. They could’ve left my bby & the kids outta their drama that they started. Mind you I didn’t do sht but defend me & my man for them attacking him & our relationship. They were all basically mad that since he moved out & got w me they didn’t have a punching bag & someone they can use as a chauffeur & atm. & they took that out on me & our bby by excluding us in fam gatherings. & to further alienate us from outside family in the states, they called them, victimized themselves in the mess they created, & told them their one sided stories, mentioning us not coming around no more but not saying why & not saying all the fcked up things they’ve done & said, just to make sure we had no outside emotional support knowing they already turned most of the fam against us & knowing that would eventually bleed onto our bby’s future like birthday parties & things like that. Everyone went along w their h8 train including the men & even though the men didn’t participate, they didn’t say or do anything abt it. So they enabled the women in the fam basically. & this all happened while I was preggo. As if antepartum depression, pregnancy, & postpartum depression wasn’t already difficult. My daughter’s father ended up getting high blood pressure, gaining unhealthy weight, eating his emotions outta stress..I became suicidal & even more depressed & stressed than I already was. All my so called friends abandoned me when they found out I was expecting. My parents are toxic so I couldn’t count too much on them to make me feel better bc they also added to my stress. We went through too much unnecessary cr@p. They did even more b.s that I left out so these things were just the tip of the iceberg. We’re doing better now.🥹but I still cry myself to sleep some days bc we didn’t get to fully enjoy those 1st beautiful yrs of parenthood/fatherhood/motherhood. Those are yrs I can’t get back. I can’t go back & relive my pregnancy. It breaks my heart to this day & it’ll always be at the back of our minds. That’s why we still keep our distance bc we refuse to let them continue to take from us. Unless ppl are adding value, peace, memories, kindness & happiness into your life, cut them off! It can save your life! It’s saving ours! Parents,siblings,cousins,best friends, uncles, aunts, all of that! It’s bc we don’t tolerate or come around or let ppl back in that we now are living a happier & peaceful life.🥲They didn’t just want to disrupt my peace, they wanted me gone. They wanted to destroy us. But we came out stronger w the knowledge that we don’t need anybody but eachother. Every couple of yrs we keep moving farther & farther!😂So many ppl have no souls. Some ppl are pure evil. Be careful.

I know that feeling, I worked at this job, at the time I had been there almost a year. I was invited by some of the girls in the office to a springs, made it seem like bring your family type thing, so I brought my mom, husband, daughter and niece and Mexican rice. I got there, it was just a small group of them, I sat with them, none of them talked to me, they didn’t even try my food, took pictures without me in them, went off for a bit without me didn’t ask if I wanted to go with them, then when they came back, they had a little alcohol and offered me none, I even asked, “ooo could I try some?” Completely ignored me and kept talking amongst themselves. So I left, said nothing, felt embarrassed that I even showed up, that Monday, I talked to absolutely no one and potlucks, yeah stopped participating in that and any other functions they had, I ended up leaving after a year there, toxic as hell after that.

Last year my neighbor had a party and invited everyone on the block except one family. I didn’t go because I thought that was very mean. The next day she went into hysterics over something (literally flapping her arms, crying - tantrum. I just told her that I just wasn’t interested in going and I didn’t like that she excluded them. Two days ago she started taunting my 86 year old mother while she was unpacking her groceries. She kept saying “you’re deaf…yes you must be deaf…and my mother asked “am I bothering you? Why are you bothering me?” Then this evil person took out her phone and started saying “you’re senile too, you’re really senile come on I’m filming you…you’re senile!” My neighbor must be related to Hilly. When I confronted her saying my mother told me what happened and I wanted to know what would compel her to do such a thing she said my mother was lying and I was blinded to her lies. She said she didn’t film her and I could look at her phone ..then said she was filming her erratic behavior so I could see it. I simply told her that I advised my mother to have no interactions with her and I’m requesting that she do the same. I also said that going forward we would have no further interactions except with regard to house insurance (we have adjoining townhouses and shared insurance for the overall structure). Thank you. I took a look at my Google Nest video clips and I saw what happened. My mother wasn’t lying - she stood there while this deranged person was pulling out her phone motioning with her hands to my mother and filming her.

This has got to be one of the saddest movies I've ever watched. It really does a great job of seeing things in a different light how people treated others not just "The Help" during times of segregation and sadly there are still things like this happening. It's just not right and it breaks my heart, people treat people in such a way. 😢💔 Great movie!🤗

I dont cry even for the most saddest movie scenes but my eyes were tearing up watching this scene because this is what I went through as a child. I thought I forgot about that until this scene. I shouldn't have watched this.
