It's tough to advance in a system once you conclude that it is fundamentally fraudulant.

For most smart people it's probably fear of risk. Laziness and an unwillingness to sleep on the gym floor. Lots of smart people have the wrong mindset and feel that being smart means they shouldn't be bad at anything so anytime they try something they are bad at they often make excuses and claim the system is rigged or think they lack the appropriate skills without realizing they can develop them. And, a lot of people just aren't as smart as they think they are and trying and failing would prove that. Truthfully it's hard to define intelligence and not everyone is intelligent in the way they would need to be to succeed in this way, but again with the correct mindset, i. e. the belief they can learn and a willingness to do so, most people could succeed. Oh, and some people just don't care and/or don't want that.

Most intelligent people are afraid to try to do anything hell I was in beta club through school. I’m 68 now when I had to enter the workforce, I was afraid every day when I had something new to do scared to death couldn’t sleep the night before finally got it under control but still had a problem with starting a new job or whatever throughout my life I had an IQ of well into the one 30s at its high point my first day in prison they gave us a IQ test and I scored a 128. I think it was anyway that’s my take on your discussion of the intellectual intelligence. The people that succeeded aren’t afraid they had something in their DNA or their upbringing that made them unafraid to take those risks.

Alex is a smart man and I respect what he has to share but it’s also very clear he defines his self worth based on what he has in comparison to others. Alain de Botton has a great lecture on how older culture put more emphasis on the role of luck or “fortune” in generate wealth. Which allowed for greater capacity for gratitude and humility when it comes. Both of which would dissolve his need to compare himself to others and get in arguments with family members about his wealth. (He mentioned this with Chris Williamson)
@Jojo-p6p7t20 сағат бұрын

Certain people never mention slavery or racism when it comes to financial advice or why some are rich. Hmmm...and its not just the money.
