Tom, you are one of the best educational resources I have found. I can’t wait for walleyes to open in Northern MN, to put your tips to work. Keep sharing what you see on your graphs, I have learned a ton.

Always great information... However, for side imaging I like to collapse the water column (water depth) just to see more side imaging. Range stays the same but you see more bottom resolution on the screen. To collapse the water column go to menu - Side Imaging - SI Enhanced - Contour Mode - On
@duggaboy4 жыл бұрын
Can you please tell me how to do that? I have a Helix and would like to be able to adjust the water column. Thank you.

Must be nice. It will be awhile before the boat comes out of storage. I was ice fishing yesterday, still 6 days left in the walleye season up here in Red Lake Ontario. Like your videos, very informative.

Been studying all of your videos lately. Thanks for the great info! Mostly learning to use my SI unit I just installed this year. Can you answer this for me? You show how wide you select for your side imaging, but do you change the megahertz setting as you choose different widths? Or does the megahertz change automatically as you choose the width that you want to scan? Thanks. I think the choices are 455 for wide, 800 for mid distance and 1.2(mega) for close range detail

Hi Tom. Love your videos especially the ones on the flowage as I grew up fishing there as well being born and raised in Ladysmith. I grew up fishing the old man style of fishing by sitting on the bogs and dropping a live minnow over the side at a foot off the bottom. We always stayed on the west side. We caught fish but nothing really large to speak of. I am really trying to target walleye by getting away from just sitting on the bogs. I have recently purchased a cabin near winter and it is closer to the East side. I spent most of last year trying to figure out this east side and didn't have to much luck when it came to walleye. In your experience would you say the west side is just better for walleye? Dont want to waist a whole summer again trying to figure this side out if the east side just is not as good as the west. Look forward to your answer and again love the videos, very informative.

Hey Tom, on this video I see you got to depth finders going. I assume one is side and the other is for down imaging. Won't one kind of cancel the other one out when both are in use? I don't know how they really work, can you you help with this question? Thanks!

I know Im kinda late to the video, but considering you actually seem to know what youre talking about imma try and ask you this. In my area, we fish the walleye pre spawn and spawn in roughly 26ft of water average (Detroit River), would you recommend similar techniques for targeting migrating walleye in the spring or is there something else youd recommend for deep water spring walters?

Tom I know u mark lots of waypoints ,my question is do u recommend using the internal gps or get the puck
@nathaniellarson83 жыл бұрын
Ideally your gps signal would be directly over your sonar source and would be taking continuous location readings. So if you have a console boat and the puck has a higher rate than your unit it will be better than not having it. You are already dealing with a ten foot or so error rate, so if your unit is 10 feet from your transducer and you are trying to cast at some walleyes you marked on side imaging, if you come back at the mark from the opposite direction and try to mark the same fish you will be 20 feet off, and that is with a perfect gps signal.
