Steven Owens’ family says he was one who liked joking around, and even had a favorite profane phrase. They say he used it in an endearing way, especially if he liked you. So when Steven died, the family had it etched on his tombstone for them and other passersby to make them smile. However, cemetery staff say they’re not fond of the message. I remember hearing a story about a family in Iowa who stood up against their town's government because they wanted to remove a headstone that was shaped like a Christian cross. They wanted it removed because they deemed it offensive to non-Christians. Come Election Day, the entire town remembered what they tried to do, so they voted out the mayor and the city council. I'm not a religious person, but if some politicians pulled that stuff on my family over some Christian imagery on a headstone and I'll gladly make sure they don't have a future in politics ever again.

More people should personalize their tombstones like this. 😂 I don’t see any harm in adding a harmless phrase/quote, especially if the deceased would’ve gotten a kick out of it. I kinda wish I could give my grandma a new tombstone since hers is old and kinda bland. Before she passed, she told all of us grandkids that if we ever saw a butterfly it meant that grandma was visiting from heaven. Really made it easier to cope with her passing as a child that didn’t fully understand death at the time. So maybe add some butterflies to her tombstone since they meant a lot to her, and to us grandkids? 🤔
