Lush Production Isn't the BPV a Bi-Pass Valve or recirculating valve not a Blow Off Valve or vent to atmosphere? The SF intake makes the same sound with my stock recirculating valve.

Yes, technically speaking, BPV is a recirculating valve, it vents back into the intake inlet. All BPV's basically sound the same because of that. Bov's vent to the atmosphere, and are called blow of valves. The Cobb XLE is both a BPV and BOV, depending on how you set it up.

ah, nice. I have a cobb sf intake on mine and it makes quite a bit of noise, its just where we had the external mic when me and some buddies made a video, couldnt pick up any noise lol. i'll try that placememt next time

+Lush Production I don't want to sound like i'm being negative, The car sounds great as all subarus do i'm just not keen on the BOV sound that's all. I'm from the UK and have grown up around subarus with my dad having many I love them to bits i'm at the point where i'm looking to buy one myself but i'm torn between a Subaru, evo or focus st as I've had a ST before and am very fond of them. There is a very big following of subarus over here do you have the same there???

+reeslodge24 You also want to keep in mind that the mic was mounted right next to the intake filter. So the sounds you were hearing were more directly from the intake not the BPV, So the sounds were very dramatic, easy to get confused from the BPV. This Header comparison video does not demonstrate the actual sound of the car very well. Not Sure if the St is AWD in the UK. The ST in the US is FWD, so it's like comparing apples to oranges here. I was actually going to trade this car for an Evo x at the time. The STi's and Evo's are both Finley tuned platforms for sure, You can't go wrong with either one. But i decided to keep the Subaru for a couple reasons. I really liked how Raw the GD STi's felt and /overall Feel /Feedback information I received when driving. The Car's is also pretty light for an AWD car, I have done some more weight reduction to the car since the making of this video as well. First time I drove an Evo X, I was blown away on how it felt in the corners, Both handling and power wise, I was hooked immediately after the first drive. I was sold! But when i got back in my Subaru, I felt as if the Evo was too electronically assisted to my liking. Plus I do prefer older generation cars to the Modern, As i grew up loving the True JDM Ancestors. Don't get me wrong, one day I wish to own one. But for now I'm going to stick with the Subaru. As far as the US goes, Subaru and Evo's are praised here, I would say Subaru has the upper edge as far as popularity, as you know Mitsubishi has discontinued the Evo Platform unfortunately. Honestly you should test drive them all to gain perspective of the worlds they offer and see what suits your needs the best.

+허진 It's Hard to say which one is better as they are both a great product. The car was tuned slightly more aggressive with the Tomei UEL, so naturally it felt like it had more of a kick. The ELH spooled a little quicker and the Power band felt more refined. If i had to choose I which one is better, it would be the ELH.

well, a BOV is kinda SUPPOSED to dump that pressure before you get a massive spike when you close the throttle. Without a BOV, you get a surging flutter, as the air is forced back through the turbo, thus beating the hell out of the bearings. if it doesn't open fast enough, you get a flutterdump, where you get the flutter, then the BOV opens. There should be absolutely no difference between venting to atmosphere and recirculation, no matter what anyone says, BTW.

I understand how they work. There is a physical difference between the two. My STi is Maf tuned, it does not like atmospheric Bov's, its quite obvious when switching in between modes. The Car is physically sluggish and response goes down when its not circulated. Subaru's in general do not like atmospheric type bov's, unless you convert to a speed density tune. Your right Both BOV/BPV's provide the same task, however, running the proper BOV or BPV for your setup is something that is important to take note on.

Thanks man, appreciate it. In this video i was probably around 270-280WHP. Turns out, I forgot to plug one of the ports on the External wastegate, So i wasn't hitting full target boost in this video. But As of today, The car has seen more weight reduction and is now pro tuned and making 304 WHP / 343 Ft-Ibs @20 PSI / 92 Octane / Stock Injectors. pretty conservative as far as power, But mainly just focusing on suspension and weight reduction with this build.

+Justin Speer Im using an Ultimate Racing 38mm V Band Uppipe. If I could start over, I would go with the Grimmspeed 3 Bolt up-pipe. It was just released last year for the Three bolt header setups. But the ultimate racing pipe does the job though, No complaints.

Grimmspeed just released the 3 bolt EWG uppipe last year, If your considering to convert to EWG with a Three bolt header setup, I would recommend picking up the Grimmmpseed unit. Not that there is anything wrong with the Ultimate Racing brand, Both will work fine.

+Johnny D Yea the sound is very different. The Mic was installed right next the Air filter, not a greatest area for a header comparison. Its hard to say cause i really do like both. But its hard to deny the sound of the UEL headers, which is why i went back.
