Very cool and an awesome job. Watching you do the pig tail curls I can imagine that the material likes to roll in your hand a bit while you are forming them. Nice job.

It's quite a satisfying process at that stage. At least one way it is, you might have noticed that they are a mirrored pair, as the two pig tails are the same curtain pole. I find one side easier to roll up, but for the life of me, couldn't tell you which one!!

Lovely job, Tom. That’s a heavy curtain pole though. Not tempted to chop them off and mount them on pipe to keep the weight down?

Thanks! I've never really liked pipe, feels different to solid and I like the fact that it's all one piece of manipulated steel. Weight isn't really a factor, as the hooks are more than strong enough. I have to admit though, from a production line perspective, it would be lovely to be able to knock out a load of finials as stock to add on to custom length poles!

How are they attached i the middle.?
@TomFellBlacksmith11 ай бұрын
If they're long they are split in half like this and connected with a short sleeve and a middle hook. If they're short enough I make them as one single piece.
