I imagine we are seeing what's coming to light after terrible abuse of some or all kinds: Abuse by neglect--parking kids in front of video games. Physical and sexual abuse. Abuse at the hands of teachers and babysitters and family "friends." Abuse by allowing children to witness protracted marital violence. Extreme exposure to extreme types of pornography. Insane consumer pressure to buy things in order to live a "better" life... Abuse of pharmaceutical prescriptions and street drugs. Terrible diets, a lack of sports and arts and healthier outlets. A lack of parental involvement in children's/teens lives, etc. All that said, the world Charles Dickens painted was pretty darned bleak. Prior generations had many terrible things going on. People perhaps were more often part of larger families, with the potential for community members to step in and regulate their lives. Bravo Tomi Lahren. This LGBTQ issue is getting out of control. What about the rights of normal people who are the majority of the population? I think the best solution for members of the LGBTQ community is to form a sovereign country of their own, with its own constitution, language, and culture and interact with the rest of the world by respecting the different cultures of the global community as they would want us to respect theirs. This way, they can live freely in their own nation as the rest of the normal world does. To each his own.

My best friend's gay son has been obsessed with the Little Mermaid since he was little - his lovely mum embraced his passions and he grew up balanced and is a primary school teacher - noone tried to overlay a trans ideology on him - why has this issue perverted the natural development of young people into personal growth? That’s a great story. As a gay man I can attest to the pressures of heteronormative values being very suffocating and the way they were vehemently pushed, mixed with threats of hell, prospects of never finding love, being unworthy of love, innately sinful, all of this combines into a very bleak and psychologically heavy experience. It isn’t possible for a straight person to fully understand that. So I fully stand by the people promoting a more humane culture when it comes to accepting those with sexually atypical (and immutable) tendencies. I don’t stand for vehemently pushing heteronormative gender stereotypes, at least not in the threatening or religious/existential way it often happens. But I also don’t stand for pushing divergent gender behaviors. We don’t have to push for gay, straight, trans, plus, etc. expressions. I think the media and the debate and even the discourse in general creates this adversarial war of the gender ideologies, which is really so silly. It’s like conflict built from pure abstraction and arbitrary conventions. I’m glad your friend’s son was allowed to pursue his passions and he’s happy now. I’m optimistic we seem to be heading in the direction where this is the bottom line.

I don't have a problem with boys wearing dresses and girls playing with stereotypically boyish things (I was a tomboy myself) but I do have a problem when it is pushed onto children and not a product of their own genuine curiosity.
