Excellent video! This was my experience too - practising a lot with a coach and then getting destroyed by the inherent randomness of a real gameplay

Thank you this is great. I slowed the video down to .25x to try to see if I could use your tips to anticipate where the ball was going to go, was a fun exercise! I feel like I've been overlooking this part of the game 'watching the opponent/blade' for so long. One thing I would add in addition to what you said that seemed to help me was to watch his eyes and head where he was looking, to help anticipate where it would go.

Mr dirty fingerz, I'm still more than impressed by how you can manage your backhand with that FINGERZ in the FH without making mistakes in the BH...how is that even possible? I have a nice shakehand grip and make tons of finger errors in my BH?! Now regarding your FH Body work, I didn't even realise Craigs criticism until is been pointed out bc it looked fluent nonetheless and you're tall. Maybe watch the Dima to know if it's necessary to work on this as a gigant.

On my FH, my finger does move up the rubber, as can clearly been seen. But when I switch to BH, my finger moves back down. I actually grip my handle more with my bottom two fingers, which allows me to move my thumb and index finger into different positions. A bit of weird grip. I've tried changing, but it's a difficult habit to break!

Good tutorial, Tom and Craig, but if you are a decent level player into any competition, hopefully I would say that it should come as natural to read the oponent's movements. Like Craig said : Tom, if he would have picked on your technical technique, positioning, footwork, etc he would have taken your focus off the exercises focus, although I have have seen plenty of errors as well into the video and I'm just a level 1 table tennis coach, only my standard as a competitive player is a lot higher than what my coaching qualification actually shows. If we will englobe this type of exercises into our daily routine ( if we don't already train a lot matches wise as well ), combined with the previously mentioned adjustments, our level should skyrocket with every tournament or competition we successfully complete ( tested as coach as well as player )
