Those are indeed very reasonable tips. Let me add two details, which are quite important I feel. First I would add a 6th tip: Loosen your grip, i.e. don't hold your bat too tight. This helps with the control in general, in particular on powerful shots. Second, the 1st tip to take the ball early needs to have a warning, to not take the ball TOO early. It's sometimes tempting to want to rush our opponent and take the ball very early after the bounce. I've observed that doing this makes it really difficult to control the ball. I find this is especially the case when the ball has a lot of top spin. Maybe the right way to put is don't rush: Take it early if you can, but don't rush on the ball. Control is the most important.

For my blade I have JOOLA Vyvaryz Trinity: bribartt.co.uk/product/joola-vyzaryz-trinity-table-tennis-blade//?ref=8204 And my rubbers are JOOLA Dynaryz AGR bribartt.co.uk/product/joola-dynaryz-agr-table-tennis-rubber/?ref=8204 It is a fast set-up, but you it does allow me to do quick blocks without too much effort.

Yes blocking is your natural style and you do well. I would lose bigtime against you with my engaged loops. #2 is the best.

#3 block is probably best because it was against Pitch and was blocked perfectly to his right pocket and jammed him up. The 'nobody home' blocks where the opponent is caught out or stepping around look more spectacular, but they're usually due to opponent mispositioning or risk taking. Pitch was in the right spot and being pretty safe and it still jammed him up.

Any tips for bat angle/amount of drive depending on how much topspin is on the ball? What's the most effective way of controlling alot of topspin? Thanks :)

If there is a lot of topspin, you really need to close the bat angle a lot and almost drive down on the ball. I find it easier to contact the ball early (Craig's first tip), then I can stay over the top of the ball and control the spin.

It's just a normal block, but I'm a little bit on the stretch (which isn't ideal). But I managed to get my bat behind the ball and there was so much pace on the attack, that the ball went back very fast.

@@TomLodziak I love it! Generally, I love the idea of using the quality (speed, spin, angle, any?) of my opponent’s serve or shot to my own advantage. I would love to see a video exploring this subject.
