So many memories of his first season driving the multicolored Sauber, Nick Heidfeld his teammate. 2003 battling Michael and Montoya until the end of season. Ill just say: Every major F1 Champion is known to have said in some way or another that they are impressed by Kimis unmatched ability to jump into everything and drive it quick without any preperation time. Oh and he is Ferraris last World Champion and in this regard Schumis successor (next to inheriting his seat ofc).

I'm a Finn, and my favourite Kimi moment is 2012 Abu Dhabi, the very first race I ever watched, and it's not the team radio. I was 5 years old, and my dad randomly switches the channel to F1, where I can see Kimi leading the race (for context it was about half way through the race and Hamilton had alredy retired and I had no idea of him even existing, also no idea about the team radio, since I was a 5 year old boy). I remember Alonso chasing Kimi down the last laps. And a picture, that will always live in my mind, is when Kimi crossed the line to win the Grand Prix. The picture goes like this: Kimi is close to the pitwall celebrating his victory, while Alonso is also at his ass on the same straight, about 1 second behind. Vettel is in the exit of the last turn, and in the picture I remember seeing all 3 cars at the same time. It still gives me goosebumps when I think about it. When he won, I started crying, out of pure joy. Now that's my favourite Kimi memory. He has been an idol for me, and teached me to just give the middle finger to the doubters, and to just not care what people say. I'm 14 now, and I've watched every F1 race I could since 2018. If someone read it this far, I hope you have a great day.

The thing I always liked about Kimi was that, while he hated the media, he always had time for the fans, even when he was utterly shitfaced drunk. When he crashed out in Spain, and they showed the little kid upset, so he met the kid in the catering area of the Ferrari garage, that showed him as utter class. And, the video of him, drunk as a skunk, meeting the fans after the FIA award ceremony, showed that he likes real people over media. He is a true legend, and I would love to see him, if he isn't driving still, as a steward for F1 because he would call shit right down the middle.

Was chatting to a friend about Kimi and he insists that the 2003 title shouldn’t have gone to Schumacher because marshals pushed him out of the gravel traps in the Nurburgring, and if Michael DNFs that race then Kimi takes the WDC. Not seen anybody else’s perspective on that though

Kimi + 2005 Mclaren + Michelin tyres was one of the scariest combo's in recent times. Retiring from the lead 3 times + 3 ten place grips missing out on so many points. 2005 was a big missed opportunity for Mclaren and Kimi. He looked like he was one with the car and that combo was one of the fastest in recent times pace wise despite its reliability problems. There was no one in Formula 1 in the 20th Century that extracted the absolute limits of the car while having multiple problems that were way out of his control than Kimi in 2005. Definitely and truly the 2005 Driver of the Year even thou the Champion that year was his old sparring rival Alonso.

To watch "Kimi" written on his McLaren was such a delight. Not knowing the drivers, a 13 yo me just knew there was this car with Kimi written on it swooping past everyone. An instant favourite despite the heartbreaks. His arrival and sustenance on the F1 grid as an inexperienced but gritty rookie taught me the value of talent and hardwork while the world around you can go to the bins. Kimi finally winning the title in 2007 is definitely my favourite moment after watching him miss out in 03 and 05. I would argue that McLaren was the slightly better car that year and Kimi finishing the year with most wins and ahead of both Hamilton and Alonso is bizarrely underrated achievement. Especially when he suffered two mechanical DNFs and the McLaren drivers had none that year.

Thank you for honouring my favourite driver. 20 years (18 to be precise) in the sport, 42 years young and still outperforms his teammates. Not all the years, yes, but how Bottas is the No. 2 to Lewis, Kimi was for Vettel (at least in Ferrari's eyes). I cried when he announced his retirement, I can't picture F1 without him. So here is my favourite (and first) story of Kimi. The year is 2004, I am 5 years old. It's a summer day in July in Germany, a Sunday. After playing outside, I join my grandpa and my mother for the start of the race. I was asking a lot of questions at the start of phase as usual, kids are curious. :D Then, on Lap 14 Michael heads into Turn 1, soon followed by Kimi. Suddenly, his rear wing fails and the off in to the gravel at Turn 1. A lot of dust is in the air, you can't see him. The phone rings and after my mom picks up, I want to go outside and play F1. Running around as fast as I can. In those years, my parents owned a paddling pool of a remarkable size. I thought it was an fun idea to build up as much speed as I can and then to jump into the paddling pool. Several jumps later, I just happen to hit the inside wall of the paddling pool just like Kimi did in the race earlier. I got excited, got out and told my mom about this. Her still being on the phone meant she wasn't particular interested in my story, so I went back to start it all over again. Fast forward 15 years, I am a founder an owner of a F1 racing league which turned 3 that year. 5 other guys and me decides to attend the German GP in 2019. And we all know how that race went. The fact that my first attended race ever is at the track I have watched my first ever F1 race on TV, was already mind-boggling. On top of that a young lad by the name of Mick Schumacher drives the Ferrari of that year, of that first race I watched on TV around the very same track is just...UNBELIEVEABLE. I had the picture of Michael driving through Turn 1 on Lap 14, just before Kimi's crash going through my mind while watching his son go around the track in front of me. These pictures live rent-free in my head forever. #KeepFightingMichael Thank you for these memories, Kimi! I will miss you. ;-; You are my hero.

About the pic with the Mole, I don't know where or why exactly the picture was taken, but the Mole is "Krtecek" ("little mole" in czech). He's a character from a kids show (target audience I'd say around pre-school to elementary school age) of the same name which was produced from 1957 to 2002 in the Czech Republic and broadcasted in Kids evening TV all over Eastern Europe and Eastern Germany. In 1968 it even premiered in Western Germany, even before it started to run in Eastern Germany. Here in Germany it's simply just called "Der kleine Maulwurf". It's about this little mole and his friends which are various other animals you'd find in a forrest. Each episode there's a problem the mole has to overcome, sometimes with the help of his friends, sometimes alone, which then will be resolved in a way the children understand it. It's the cutest shit ever. As as kid I loved it and basically never missed an episode. I don't know if it's still running but ~15-20 years ago when I watched it there always were re-runs running Sunday noon. As stupid as it sounds, you really should check out at least one episode! And if you search for it and won't find anything in English, you also can use the Czech or German spelling as none of the characters talk, they're all just making rambling noises like the Sims. :D

Kimi Raikkonen is someone I’d say I’ve looked up to because of his character and abilities behind the wheel. He’s been my favorite ever since I started paying attention to F1 in 2008 as a nine year old. Massa and Kubica were the other drivers that I liked and rooted for, but Kimi has always been at the top for me. It’s really cool that he notched up his last F1 win here in the States. Through his whole career, he’s stayed true to himself and never really wavered through the good phases and the bad phases. I think his words upon announcing his retirement perfectly summarized just what it is about him that has made him my favorite F1 driver. Not sure who I’ll be rooting for after he’s out; I imagine I’ll be a lot like the Earnhardt fans who still carry the #3 and #8 well after their guys departed from the on-track festivities.

That would've made his championship pretty hollow at best. Kimi deserved 2007, I firmly believe it. Nobody extracted more pace from the car that year than Kimi. He was frighteningly fast that year. That was Kimi in peak beast mode. Will miss him when he's gone, my favourite driver of all time. F1 is never going to be the same without him. But hey, Raikkonen Jr is already being trained so maybe we'll see the name back in F1 in the future. Thanks for the memories, Kimi.

Kimi's time at McLaren Mercedes from 2002 - 06 were some of the most memorable if not the most dominant seasons. He took the fight to then Schumacher/Ferrari and subsequently to Alonso/Renault. I remember when I was so young back then and I used to be such a stubborn Schumi/Ferrari fanboy that I used to be afraid of that black Mclaren Mercedes of Kimi defeating Schumi/Ferrari. He was so fast in that car. On a side note that black Mclaren Mercedes livery was my most favourite/best racing livery. It looked downright gorgeous in the sun. Kimi was, is, and always has been a pure racing driver. He drove with clinical precision; never complained about weather, malfunctions, racing incidents; always left ample space while defending or overtaking and spoke his heart when he did eventually speak (most of which was just bwoah). Deserved more championships. An absolute legend. Cheers, Kimi and good luck. 🥂

"Little mole" or "Krteček" is a Czech cartoon character and it is (or it was idk) official partner of Alfa Romeo Racing. I think it supposed to bring younger generations to watch f1 or something like that

What makes Kimi's 2003 season even more impressive is that McLaren that season raced with a modified 2002 season car that was barely developed during the season because Adrian Newey's 2003 car was complete failure that didn't even pass crash tests and ended up not racing at all that season.

For me, Kimi at McLaren was a phenomenon, without a doubt he was the fastest driver on the grid.. He was fearless and he could beat anyone if the car was up to the challenge, which in many cases it wasn’t.. Had it not been for all the Dnf’s im sure he would’ve been 2-3 time champion.

He might have just one title to his name, but Kimi is a WAY WAY better driver than certain multiple world champions in my opinion. Not hot headed, selfish or a whiner. He's pure class and has been throughout his career. Will miss him...no one can replace him.

Japan 2005 is master class, but so is Abu Dhabi 2012 "don't tell me what to do" and he only didn't win Monaco for Ferrari because they privileged Seb; a driver who only has words of praise for him. To me the best Kimi is Lotus, when he pulled off stunning performances in what was not in any way the best car.

I was a Ferrari fan in the 00s, and hated McLaren, who always challenged them. I remember a race, probably in 2003, when Kimi was leading up until the final lap, when his car broke down. Genuinely felt sorry for the guy at the time.

Most people just take him as a meme, or a fun guy, but he really was a great driver. And his no-nonsense attitude is what made him a star, he was always honest, with himself, with others, trying to be reasonable, while still being very passionate (USA 2005 for example, look it up), it hasn't been the same after his Lotus days, I never really saw Ferrari as a good fit for him, not back in the day, not in the 2010s, but I'm really glad he's got his one title, and he's been there with the greats. Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, he has fought them all. So well done Kimi! Still the last Ferrari champion, and also, 2022 will be a year with no Ferrari champions on the grid, sad.

THE RAIKKONEN SAGA ISNT OVER! Kimi’s son Robin is being trained by the iceman himself and looks like he’ll be entering karting racing soon as the times Kimi is taking him out to race against him in karts, robin is beating him. So while it’ll be a while, it looks like robin is going to outside the same career his father did, so it seems as though one day, the sir name raikkonen will return to F1

Wow, the mole photo really surprised me. The mole is a czech fairytale character, called Krtecek (means “a small mole” in czech). Everyone knows mole stories in czechia, it’s just iconic here. I remember myself having quite some amount of video cassettes with the stories. But I have no idea why would they take a picture with it.

Doesn't anyone realize Kimi improved every season he was at Ferrari in his second stint? 55 points(2014) 150 points(2015)-3 podiums 186 points(2016)-4 podiums 205 points(2017)-7 podiums 251 points(2018)-12 podiums and 1 win In this rate he would get about 400 points and WDC this year if he stayed at Ferrari.😅😅

That was a quality plug for Aidan! Props Tommo! I was literally having this debate with my mate last night about Kimi, because I reckon he's as good as people like Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel, but my friend argues his lack of results and inability to avoid bad luck (debatable whether you can even include this) puts him just a step below the other greats. I feel like Kimi was sort of in the wrong place at the wrong time a lot. What do you think he will do after F1? I think he'll either go into a team role at Ferrari/Sauber, or take a year out and go and race other cars. I'd love to see him join the ranks of ex-F1 talent in WEC.

The mole at 18:45 is a character out of a German to show. It’s the „Sendung mit der Maus“ (tv show with the mouse), which is a kids show that explains the world (science, engineering, societal stuff) in a simple way. The main character is an orange mouse, and her side kicks are a blue elephant and the black mole. Alexander Gerst, a german ESA astronaut even had plush animals of the mouse and the elephant with him to the International Space Station. I guess the picture has been taken either 2020 at the Eifel GP (which is in Germany, not too far from where the to show gets recorded)m or in one of the Austrian GP races, as the show is aired in Austria too, as far as I know.
