The chromed out texture of Zhou's helmet's design is inspired by 螺钿(Luo-dian), a type of traditional Chinese craft made by inserting nacre or mother of perl into a carved surface of lacquer (usually black). Definitely one of most creative and well designed integration of a driver's own culture into helmet design, it makes so much sense with his template

Russell's helmet is such a clanger IMO. It has a unique shade of blue (not any more though because of Gasly) but that's all it has going for it. It doesn't even have an interesting or memorable design like they had in the 70s-80s, such as Graham/Damon Hill's helmet. He needs some kind of actual design that isnt either A) Identical to several other drivers (Ocon, Leclerc, Stroll) or B) a uniquie element like Gilles Villeneuve or Jody Scheckter's helmet

I'm glad you moved Tsuonda's up, because I think Minor Clang was a bit harsh. Mid is perfect. I disagree with you a lot on KMag's. I love how they use the Haas logo as the centerpiece and everything plays off of that. But the other two in Clanger...they are horrendous. Williams has it going on with their helmets. I also would've moved Verstappen down to Small Bang, and I'm glad you moved the lime green one down to small bang.

Honestly the one I liked the most is Lando's tribute to Gil. It's just an amazing throwback, I will always prefer simplicity in both design and colours over anything else. Albon's also pretty amazing, and I think Leclerc's one would take my third spot on the podium. Clangers are pretty much the same, but i do think Hulkenberg's is the worst of them all.

I got choked up when you showed Lando's tribute helmet. It was perfect - simple, clean, and by copying the design of de Ferran, it completed its "mission". I'm sure that for those of us old enough to have watched that gent race, it brought back some awesome memories. I'm not normally into livery and helmet designs, though it helps when the drivers more or less stick to one throughout their career - like Graham and Damon Hill's London Rowing Club one. It helps me spot them on a smaller screen. I must admit that I have a particular taste for "minimalist" decoration, regardless of what it's on, so any "fussy" designs are automatically on the clanger list. But to surprise myself, because I hate neon green (and lime), of the "regular" helmets, Valtteri's is one of my faves. I think you were right saying that the slightly swirly green on black represents the northern lights, and I know that the star cluster is a constellation, probably one permanently in the north (which of course I can't remember right now!). My assumption is that it's all in reference to Finland (probably bloody obviously!?). The green is just that bit less intrusive than the green on the car, which makes it easier to like. Though I do like some others, this one _not_ being full of smaller images and lots of writing, just sets it off a treat.

Vettel was (and still is) the undisputed king of F1 Helmet designs. Also how is Piastri minor clang and Alonso minor bang if they're basically identical? Also, and that's personal taste i don't care much for Logan's helmet and i really don't like Max's. Max best colour combination in my opinion was the "world champion" dark blue helmet last year. I do agree on Albon's helmet looking great, and I really like Charles' too.

Honestly think you should rank them from the drivers perspective, there’s so much going on with each design that no one but themselves can explain the reasoning behind. Helmets like Lewis’ is defo not mid and Max’s is just full of sponsors with no unique touch to it. Piastri’s is literally like Fernando’s but you have them two tiers apart. My tier list. Only gave opinions where I disagree with yours: BANGER: - Sargeant - Leclerc - Zhou === The iridescent really pops next to the black. Just looks really nice. SMALL BANG: - Norris deFerran tribute - Gasly - Alonso - Sainz - Ricciardo === Little too basic for my liking but definitely solid. MID: - Perez - Russell - Bottas - Norris === Prefer his normal iconic design. - Stroll - Tsunoda === I don't mind this rendition. Not as good as his 2023 lid, but not bad. - Albon === The lack of any dividing colours is my main issue with it. These colours just don't work together without a mediator like black. His logo on the side also isn't centered between the top and bottom pink lines. MINOR CLANG: - Magnussen === Looks a little unconventional, but the colour palette is interesting. - Verstappen === I just don't like it. Looks more like a motocross helmet. KMag -> At least a Small Bang - Really nice "tropical" color scheme Yuki -> At least a Small Bang too - The blue gives a really nice contrast Zhou -> Banger - Just incredible Then there are a few that might be controversial: Ricc -> Clanger - The color scheme with those flames... looks a bit lame Leclerc -> Mid - Sainz has a better design Norris (Pre-Season) -> Small Bang - It's pretty nice but way too simple
