Agreed. Had an F90 then got a G80…. And now I just signed for another F90 lol. There is something much more special to me about the M5. It’s not as much of a hooligan or as nimble and connected feeling as the G80 but there’s something else to it. Can’t totally articulate it but I always felt like a boss in my M5. In the M3 I feel a lot more pedestrian if that makes sense, even though it is a damn near six figure car. It’s nowhere near as luxurious and the I6, while an amazing engine, just doesn’t compare to the V8.

Be aware with CCB in the rain. Say you're on the highway and have been traveling for some time without touching the brakes. That first time you hit the brakes it will feel like you have no brakes so you'll need to do a double pump, then they'll work as normal. Scared me plenty of times on my f80. Beautiful M5!

Awesome video Tommy! I do really enjoy the “bring you with me” aspect of your videos. I suspect many of your viewers, like me, enjoy living vicariously through your videos - and the fact that you seem to include the audience so well and relate to the viewers is a nice touch. Your comments are spot on about the M5. It is a mature man’s car, but it means business and has mega power. Given that you had the 911, and wanted an AWD family car - did you consider a Cayenne? I recently picked up a new Cayenne GTS - wow. AWD, lots of space, and the exhaust tone puts every other V8 I’ve driven to shame. It’s like they took your 911 and disguised it as an SUV… it drives that well. Maybe for your “next” car… ;). Keep up the awesome content!

M5 is a great car and I agree it's the best 'classic look' BMW (I've got G31 520D for long trips). When it comes only to the engines, S63 has a history of overheating because of its construction with turbos inside the V (I know it was improved by thermal insulation). In terms of pure engineering S58 seems more advanced (though I couldn't find it in a good looking M 😅).

Hands free trunk release is a quick in and out directly under roundel. Not slowly. I believe you can close also if you have power trunk. Also, seats are technically ventilated, not cooled. It draws air away from the body, does not blow onto the body. Great car, I had a 2018

Honestly, I almost never listen to the radio. I enjoy the exhaust. And for the few times, when I actually do, the existing standard audio system is absolutely fine.

However the M5 after all still is a luxury car and most of the time I would assume people drive normally, listening to music for example because what else is there to do in traffic. Hands free trunk access may be disabled if you got a factory installed carbon fiber rear diffuser. I have one on my 19 m5 comp and it was disabled at the factory. If you look at your spec sheet it will have a code that indicates it was disabled

That thing is so rad love it! I do have to say, however first time I drove a 991 GT3 on track. I was drifting the hell out of it so as far as the rear traction goes on 911’s, I get what you mean but I also know that you could have a lot of fun and drift the hell out of them with traction control off.

Maybe my T is a bit underpowered. But even at the limit it felt a bit snappy. The M because of the light rear and length feels so much more controlled when sliding out. This makes it insanely fun. The rear tires won’t last long haha

I too have a '21 marina bay blue M5C except I have the lighter aragon brown interior (I agree with the jeans transfer). My only issue I have with my car is that the car should have wider fenders (i.e. M3) to protect the fenders and quarter panel from rock chips. I had Xpel PPF installed on the entire front end of my car but not the side rocker panels. I had a M550 before the M5 which, didn't the problem due to smaller width tires. Last, I am hearing the new 2024 G90 will have wider fenders; however, I do not like the look of the car's front and the additional weight due to hybrid electric motors and batteries (F90 is heavy enough). Maybe the new look will grow on me and I will purchase one; for now, I am keeping my F90.

I have the Torque app on my phone. I also have an F10 M5. If I put my M5 into sport+ the engine temp is 180ish if I put in comfort or regular sport mode the engine temp is 220ish. Not sure if that carried over into the next generation. I keepmly car in sport+ all the time. Act accordingly.

I believe when it is in comfort/regular mode the top mount intercooler is not active…when you put it in Sport/Sport+ is when the intercooler engages, hence the cooler temps

@@bmdubyou M5's have liquid inter-coolers, not TMIC, I am not sure they play into the engine temps. I was shopping for a cooler thermostat when I came across a post on an M bulletin board where the poster claimed putting the car into Sport+ will open up the cooling system and cause it to run much cooler. I am not sure why they have them running so hot when not in sport+ I wonder if it is emissions related. I do know I have my M1 button on my steering wheel programmed to all the settings "I" want for around town driving. The M2 button is set for insanity!! LOL!! I have the M1 set for Sport+ on engine and steering with comfort set for suspension. I also programmed to the DCT to setting 1 of 3 which is the least intrusive / calmest setting. M2 has everything set to Sport+ and the DCT set to manual.

the trunk sensor gets blocked by the carbon fiber diffuser. it works sometimes, just not very reliable.

I have the exact same car/spec except it's PFL. To open the trunk: you swipe your right foot from the middle of the car to under the right muffler and it'll open... Congrats btw, epic cars these! Mines stage 2 which makes it even more bonkers. :D Drive it in 2WD DSC off mostly...@@TommyLGarage
