Every single person I have run this place with just stacks on that portal before it even opens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Considering how frequently groups wipe at least once here, I am not sure why this is so commonly acted. It at least wont make the shadow realm any easier.

I watched a couple of your other guys a few days ago and decided you were the best guide. However when I got to the crystalis I was thinking "there's no way he has one for this too" so I started watching the first in the search results, it was terrible, then the next one was yours! Nice one, it's good to know my guides are doing their job well then! This one is towards the end of ARR and after the next video I will cover every MSQ Heavensward trial. Then it's a case of filling in the dungeons - but the trial guides are the most popular so I tend to focus on those first. Anyway I'm happy to help and thanks for the support!

@@TomScottDoesStuff honestly, if I didn't have your guide, I probably would have quit the game for awhile. I am more interested in the story but the game throws casual players into the pit and sometimes it is really frustrating how hard these trials and dungeons can be when all you want to do is enjoy the story. What do you think?

I went in scared, expecting deaths and wipes, but we ended up obliterating the trial without even a single death :) Maybe I got lucky with the group (yes, we had someone do the limit break) but still it was nice knowing what to expect, so huge thanks TSDS! To anyone else afraid of this - don't be. The trial is exceptionally easy if only you have a melee dps pop a limit break on the tear to end the second phase fast. Other than it's all really simple, so watch the guide, do your best and you'll surely beat it! Good luck :)

I think this is the first I’ve heard of the blight de buff lol, I’ve always seen groups jump in right away. I think the high number of wipes come from a combination of factors: first being that as story required battle that doesn’t really give any rewards, there’s a higher density of sprouts. Secondly, a lot of these mechanics are new-even the idea of these more indirect mechanics aren’t really explored in other fights before this. I’m glad to see a new guide released for this; resources like this are a godsend for new players (and I was even able to learn something!)

Yeah in basically every single attempt everyone pretty much just stacked in the middle of the room to teleport straight away. I don't know how this mechanic has slipped under the radar but I feel like most people just close their eyes and pray the phase ends without a wipe.

Thanks for this guide, it enabled me to clear it on first try as main tank. We got lucky and he never used double/triple or it was patched out, but at least I never saw him use it. Meaning my health never dropped to almost nothing in an instant. Or maybe he died too fast.

Hmm interesting, at least I couldn't find any information about it in the 6.X patch notes. He will cast double/triple, then cast spark - and after spark 1 or 2 uncasted sparks will hit over the next couple of seconds so it's not quite /instant/ damage. If you didn't notice it at all though and assuming it's still in the game I would guess either dps was far too high or perhaps you had a shield on which absorbed most of the damage first (If I would guess I could say this one). But hey whatever works!

@@TomScottDoesStuff I have a possible explanation after looking at my footage from the fight. Tank stances have a different icon based on the job that uses it. I didn't know that at all before this fight and thought the other tank didn't use tank stance and questioned why the boss still focused on him. I couldn't figure it out during the fight, but it explains why I was never at the top of the aggro, the other tank had tank stance active and I never noticed it because I was looking for the tank stance icon that my job has. Just sprout things, I guess, there's never a day without learning something new. It's possible that the boss used it on the other tank.

So you can of course beat this encounter without a melee dps, but having one pop a limit break on the tear makes that phase so much quicker - meaning people have less time to fuck up. Good luck!

Thanks for the guide. Am an old school Final Fantasy fan so MMO style dungeon and boss fight makes me nervous. Found your guide after an earlier dungeon(Possibly Hauke Manor) that confused me. Ended up checking out your guides pre battles so as to avoid nasty surprises or messing up with strangers. Love your humor and the how you point out stuff to take note of. All that's left for this bard is to usually work up the courage to take on a seemingly complicated fight and not die too badly.

Just finished this fight for the first time. Dps were running under the meteors with the tanks, so the tear didn't even hit 50%. The only reason we didn't wipe is because somehow, and no no one in the group could figure out why, everyone in the group died except for one healer who was able to res everyone.

Thank you so much, first time i did this with randoms we wiped a lot, second time for leveling i still didn't understand and because i thought i needed to stand in the meteors, i also didn't know about the buffs and debuffs multiplying when entering the portal. now watch me still fuck up and die to a meteor next time lol

@@MCG55SS Yeah surviving triple is both on the tank and healers. Eventually your mitigations will be on cooldown but the healers should toss at least one heal during the combo. I hope the LB was at least on the tear. When it's used before the shadow realm to try and finish the boss off, you know you're in for a good time ^^

Thanks for this, somebody got upset when I didn't limit break (was my first time). "gentle reminder" would have been nice lol. Instead after we all died they were like "was all this dude's fault! He didn't limit break!!!!" edit: just did it again and was easy this time. Also me not using limit break definitely wasn't why we died lol. Most people didn't know what they were doing.

No worries. No one knows how to do this trial 2bh. Every time I am here people blow themselves up on orbs, non-tanks eat meteors, or the tanks stack together for them which means they don't catch them all. Literally no one runs away from the portal even though the dot isn't totally ignorable (especially if people are failing the meteors). It is a mess every time. Welcome to the chrysalis. You're now cursed, forever to be one of the handful of people who know how to not wipe.

Doing this with randoms was pretty annoying, not gonna lie. Especially, the meteor part. The tanks didn't know how to catch them and so the 4 DPS need to caught the meteors by themselves while healers blowing all their cooldowns to keep the DPS alive.

Yeah that sounds pretty normal. For some reason a lot of people have trouble with the shadow realm. I guess it's less obvious as to what to actually do if you're going in blind.
