Hisense canvas as a great proprietary mount. Art mode is easier to navigate through compared to Samsung.

I agree with your comments about the remote often being overlooked. One thing that does annoy me though is the lack of number keys on many remotes now. It may not seem like a big deal as you can use the on screen keyboard, but it does mean everyone in the room can see your pin when logging in to apps.

Doesn’t look like it sits as flush as the frame given the outputs at the back rather than an external input box. Which to kind defeats are large point of getting an art tv, also useful if you are going to use an avr for hidden ceiling speakers, not sure why you would use a sound bar with something like this. Would have also been nice to see the picture in full sun as that will often be the scenario for where you would use this type of tv

The one connect box thing that Samsung uses might be worth the price difference alone. I live in a brick house so i cant hide cables behind the wall. The samsung solution where there's a single "invisible" cable coming out of the tv which connects to a box hidden away somewhere is brilliant. Without that, the whole frame effect would be ruined for my use case.
@katekozuch6957Ай бұрын
definitely not discounting the one connect box. in fact I’m a big fan - but you gotta commit to setting it properly imo

I got this tv from Costco in Canada for $1100 and they threw in $180 off the 5.1 Hisense channel sound bar with rear speakers. I’m still debating if I want to keep it lol. It’s way cheaper than the Samsung but for the image quality I agree I can get better

Bought a new Samsung FRAME 65" $3500+ few yrs ago, still living with the thick horizontal line across ( thank god its close to the top ) the screen, of course it happened about 1 yr after and not warrantied, they wanted 1500$ for the fix. I never bothered with it and today it just died completely, it has power but screen is completely black and non responsive. I do like the Art function and I will try this Hisense 65" Canvas, I am 100% more confidant with the recent popular Chinese brands, it cannot be worse that my Samsung Frame experience. In addition, My Frame motion sensor ( Art mode turning on off when room occupied ) was not good either, it was hit and miss.

Can it be used in portrait mode? I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative to the Samsung's but wasn't sure if this one can be used in portrait mode.

There are pictures settings in when in art mode. The canvas has a light sensor which is on by default, but you can adjust the brightness, contrast etc of the art manually. You can set the pics to rotate or just one pic if that is to your liking. Canvas has a presence sensor like the Samsung Frame TV. The TCL TV does not have a presence sensor. Picture wise the newer TCL frame may be up to par with the pic quality of the Samsung TV. Not saying Hi Sense quality pic quality is not good, but TCL is just newer. Samsung uses a connect box and the Hi Sense and TCL does not.

I saw a recent review stating the tv wouldn’t stream its onboard apps in 4K. Any chance you could test this and report back please? That would be incredible information for everyone to know before purchasing.
@rajeevprasad1449Ай бұрын
not a good review. "Art TV" reviews should be devoted to the detailed in depth review of "art" displaying function of the "tv". We want to know the art-mode details. and comparison of TCL, Hisense and Samsung TVs: Canvas vs NextFrame vs Frame TV. purely and _only_ in context of displaying art work. How easy is the software? How good and capable is the software? Free art-work quantity (and quality?) any famous artwork included?? Longevity if used purely for displaying art-work? viewing angle etc.

@user-ww1iz7ig2b yah I'd go with Hisense. The TCL in theory seems decent but I don't see the long term support and options not to mention the cable routing options on the TCL is not well thought out as far as a flush mount canvas style TV with no wires running everywhere. the plugs face directly out and are spread out so it'll make it hard to really pull off the canvas look.

An art tv review without reviewing the art functionality??? How does it perform in variable light intensities. Does the art look realistic? Does it actually do what its purpose is?
@evanodder6948Ай бұрын
What art TV trend? Art TVs are a niche market and should be I recently bought a Frame and I'm still not over the sticker shock. $850 for a 50" TV is insane. The room I'm putting it in has no windows, which is how I justify it. It's solving a problem, see? Depending on how I look at it, the picture quality is either very good or disappointing. The emphasis of this screen is the matte finish which really does eliminate reflections. The haze that IS produced by lights is generally acceptable. There are two effective advantages between a screensaver and art mode. -- the screen turns off if it doesn't detect motion and back on when it does -- the screen goes into a power saver mode. --One disadvantage is that the Samsung gallery system is objectively horrible compared to a decent screen saver. -- Samsung doesn't have many apps, including any picture apps at all besides art mode. My only recommendation if you must have an art TV is: because all of the brands have poor reliability records, DO buy a service plan. In terms of art, you can buy 10,000 hi res paintings for $20 on Etsy. Is it just like a canvas? Lol no. You wouldn't want that. Canvases need to be lit to look good. My opinion, The picture is good, not stellar. It excels at scenes where the whole screen is bright for long periods. Noticeable improvement if I go from hd to uhd.

Hopefully some competition will awaken Samsung from their laziness and they will be forced to overhaul their terrible bug ridden tizen software.
@dallan7740Ай бұрын
I have a frame and the actual art software is really bad. I don't mind tizen too much, but simple tasks like sending a photo to the TV to display is so glitchy and painful.
