I am a massage therapist. I always tell my clients to do strengthen exercises as well as stretching. Weak muscles become tight. Weak muscles develop adhensions. Weak muscles make the other muscles compromise and it is a chain reaction to other muscles going out of wack. For example, weak Gluteus medius can cause plantar fascia pain due to the calcaneus being overy everted when you walk or run. The old term: Plantar fasciitis. If I have time, I tell them to seek a doctor, but look up the benefits of: Magnesium, Calcium, B6, B9, B12, E and C. Whole concentrate. Your green vegetables and avocado, nuts. They help with oxygen efficiency in the body which helps them with their muscles. But of course, I tell them seek a professional that can help them first, because they may have some complications due to their health. Nice informative video.

This video has been life changing! I’ve dealt with tension knots since my daughter was born in 2005. I’ve seen massage therapists, PT’s, and a chiropractor weekly. The knots were sending tension up my neck and into the base of my skull. The exercises provided immediate relief and I’ve continued to do them regularly for a week or so. Just wanted to say thank you for your videos and willingness to share with everyone!!

I’ve had sciatic pain down one leg for 2 weeks. Today I decided to work on my stiff shoulder. So I sat down and watched this video up to the add break, did the “double chin” exercise and the shrugs/shoulders together. Got sidetracked. Answered emails. Realised late for school run. Stood up. Unbelievable! First time no pain down my leg for 2 weeks. After an hour in the car it came back. Shoulder exercises again - leg working again! Thank you so much. Also pay attention to how you're sitting while you use your phone. I didnt realise how badly I was pressuring some of my vertebrae until a few weeks ago when I stopped to pay attention to it. Cause if your head is tilted past like 20° from normal it puts something ridiculous like 75lbs of extra compression force on your spine and I was holding my head like that for hours...

I have something like that therastick he has. It's called a "selfie massage stick". It's like his... but has like 1 more curvy part. It helps a lot. I don't just apply pressure with it though. I actually move it around like a massage... hurts like hell as it goes over the knots... but it feels like a productive type of pain.

I've had chronic pain since the age of 17 years old. I've been diagnosed with fallen arch from a GP, mimimal scoliosis from a chiropractor and rhomboid weakness from a physical therapist. I've asked a psychiotherapist once why it feels like i'm always pulling my lungs everytime I breathe in and she said that when you have weak muscles, your diaphragm muscles work harder to expand. I have stiffness from low back to the neck pain. After a nights sleep, I always feel like I never even slept. It really does affect your emotional and spiritual well being. I'm 35 years old now and it's gotten so that I've gotten use to the stiffness of my back. I've tried the excercise i'm not completely cured but i've felt relieved on the back base of my neck and between my shoulder blades. Thank you

Please, please listen to this, I had most of my adult life neck tension and horrible -tension- headaches. With lots of yoga and pain killers I started to feel better, but since last week I started again to feel my neck so tense that I couldn't turn my head -in any direction- I did this morning Dr. Beckstrand exercises and I improvised a rod similar to the video plus putting hot towels on my neck . . . O.M.G. I can now rotate my neck in every direction with no pain at all. THANK YOU so very much for teaching us that there is hope, when nothing. . . nothing!! worked before for many years. Jared your videos have been so helpful and informative! Here’s my pain story- A few weeks ago, I had the worst pain in the middle of my back and numbness and tingling in my left hand. I have always been prone to knots in my neck, tension headaches, and some knots under my shoulder blades. But this pain was almost as bad as child labor! I went to the emergency room and had MRIs done and it came back OK. Xrays did show mild scoliosis, and a mild reverse curvature of my cervical spine. The pain was so intense I couldn’t sleep more than three or four hours without waking up in pain. I was prescribed all sorts of medication! I have Medicaid so my options for a good physical therapist were limited! Going to a Chiro. and getting massages helps but so have your videos. No one had showed me how to do the types of stretches you have here! I am still wondering where my pinched nerve is coming from. Doctors said that the pain was muscle spasms that were compressing on a nerve...but they didn’t tell me which of the muscle groups that are spasmed is causing the pain...

Why don’t you ask your patients to agree to a video of themselves carrying out their exercises, especially whilst giving instructions and offering guidance. If not, then you have the option of asking a family member to assist you. I assure you that any current or potential new clients will appreciate the personal touch when you mention that they’re actual patients, and even better if you are able to inform them of their progress. Your involvement is sure to promote a sense of professionalism. Sorry for being so presumptuous, but I’m sure you will benefit. Peace.

I agree. I suffered really bad knots and spent so much of money of chiropractor. So now I am doing exercise with resistance bands at least three times a week. Feel much better.

I love your show. You have THE best bedside manor. ( not bad to look at either) Camille is adorable ! But seriously, these neck stretches and massage in this video have helped my neck pain soooo much I'm in shock. There is just nothing worse than dealing w neck pain ALL DAY LONG ! It's then I realize how much I use my neck muscles. ! Through your videos I'm learning I can be pain free if I tone my muscles up. As I get older (61) I now know using your tone stretches and exercises is what's going to determine how active I can be. Thank you

Thank you for this. I am a guitarist and I have been suffering from upper back pain from years. This video is very clear and tackles exactly the parts I have been suffering from. One question: how long do you reccommend holding the stretches and how often should we do these exercises (once daily? more?) Thank you so much and congratulations.

I'm glad they've been helping you, Nicola! Hold each stretch for 20 seconds and repeat 3 times each direction. You can do them 2-3 times per day. Hope they help you!

Wonderful, Marie! Oftentimes that can indicate pressure in a joint space which, when released, can cause much relief. I'm glad you found this video and thanks for your kind comment!

Starts at 3:34, heating pad (vasodilator), stretch, work the muscle (shrug hold relax), good posture (chin tucks and pull neck back, ears over shoulders), use foam roller lengthwise to stretch, do wall angels (helps fatigue muscles and posture), do wall slides (slide towel up and down wall, promotes elongation and blood flow), massage either by a person or using a tennis ball between the body and wall on the sore area, use self massage stick such as theracane (uses acupressure). These are the exercises in a nutshell, but to do them well, you should watch them.

Thank you so much! I’m in severe pain in my neck & shoulder. I suffer from TMJ & Migraines. I also have both of these gadgets. My hook is a little different with 2 hooks. It helps so much. I haven’t used my roll thing in years! Now I will. Thank you thank you! Can’t wait to see more of your videos
