Good comparison. I'm more fascinated by Mavers than Robert Johnson though. I can imagine an alternate universe where The La's are the biggest band of the late 80s/90s and they've got 10 albums, all regarded as timeless classics.

Rebound lyrics boss la (bit wrong tho post yer corrections) / Fishin Net Been up and down this soul train Lived and loved and lost again At the rebound, living on a rebound I can't explain - think I'm comin' back again On the rebound, leavin' on the rebound E (low e) e (high e string) E3322-22-1-3e33- E3322-22-1-3e00 x2 Been washed up and down the drain Since I fell in lost again On the rebound Been livin on the rebound I got this thing - come back like a boomerang On the rebound Reading on the rebound / Fishin' Net. G (but don't touch the top strings, just pinkie alternating 0-1 on b) Em (but pinkie alternating 0-1 on b) C (but pinkie alternating 0-1-3 on b) (Sometimes hit 3rd on high e- you get the picture) When you play the G chord it helps to hit F# on low E for a transition into Em) Was it something I said? or something in your head, Get out your bed And mm Come filla fishin net Wake up I say Our ship's in the bay Put out your love and Come filla fishin net Put out your love and Come filla fishin net Was it something I said? or something in your head, Get out your bed And, mmm Come filla fishin net I shall obey On my lowly way Put out your love and Come filla fishin net Put out your love and Come filla fishin net. Put out your love and Come filla fishin net. + the middle 8 is basically holding the chords but on the top e string and down) G e -3-3-3-33 Em 1-3-33 C 0-1-1-1-0 = Was it something I said? or something in your head, Get out your bed And, mm Come filla fishin net Wake up I say Our ship's in the bay Put out your love and Come filla fishin net Put out your love and Come filla fishin net. Outro is: (Same chords, but the top e seems to hit 3rd, 1st, open along the way - you can play the entire riff/bassline from this position) G Am Em (if you want to be a star you can hold Em while hitting 3-1 fret on B then same but B 1-0 G 2-0)

Nice one la’ . What tuning is lee using here?
@ToneLa
@ToneLa 4 жыл бұрын
@@marekmatejak9023 I moved it up a bit BASICALLY. It's.. hard 432hz tuning, get Cleartune on your phone or something (weirdly Lee's manager told me this - so he's not totally technophobic) I did that n mixed it about half step down in that tuning Originally it was a full step to step and a half down - but some of that was tape speed Sorry to be rarely inexact, because I had no ref point, but try half step down to 432 hz - it's somewhere around there And trust me - play this in one go as a suite and it sounds AMAZING

What a maverick, he could have been living in mansion like Noel with millions in the bank. The La's could have been huge and may have made it in America unlike Oasis. Respect for his integrity and principles, there's few that would do the same. But it's a pity that his many songs haven't been recorded in a studio for posterity.

Didn't tune this to Lee's pitch exactly, but whack your tuner to 432hz - Cleartune is the app Lee uses(!!!)
@MrGiorgioud
@MrGiorgioud 4 жыл бұрын
Daniel Smith exactly what he said. Instead of tuning your A string at 440 Htz on your tuner (standard tuning, although that is going up too, orchestrae now are using 442 Htz), lower it to 432 Htz. That is a bit sharper than Ab, but lower than A.There is a current of thought, to which Lee Mavers clearly adheres to, that states that 432 Htz is more tuned with the true sound of the universe, that universal hum that the Ancient Greek philosopher Pithagoras (the one who catalogued all the scales and the modes we all use in music) said we could hear if we could obtain total silence on earth. The truth is that in the Western world the pitch has been going up and up since the 1930s. If you listen to old Arabic music records (which Lee does because he is an open-minded fellow and he gets inspiration from the most disparate sources, and you can hear it in some of the guitar phrasing on these new songs) you will notice that the pitch is way lower. If you listen to a classical music piece in both pitches, 440 and 432, you will notice a strange phenomenon: the 440 pitch makes you feel nervous and hyper in an uncomfortable way, whereas the 432 makes you feel relaxed and at peace. Lee, who clearly has his antennae vibrating to a different plan than most of us, knows this. Hence his use of 432 Hertz.

This was 1998!! Imagine how many gems Lee Maver’s has written since then?…I bet he has a ton of other songs written in those passing 25 years. A bizarre story, one of musical integrity or perhaps mental health issues? An amazing talent nonetheless but feels kind of like a wasted career too. It’s all subjective but the first album is the best of the 1990’s.x

Very nice job. Mavers is a genius, and this would have blown most of the Britpop bands out of the water in the 90s. It would be great to hear this put through some MAL style software to clean it up - there's versions online - not as good as your Beatles/Peter Jackson version - but good enough to get rid of the hiss.
