You shouldn't knock the Carpat. For $600 bucks it seems an excellent entry level e-bike. Probably capable of doing anything a new rider is comfortable with doing. I'm glad you found the throttle. I think your liking the hub motor better might be because your Ancheer had a cadence sensor for pedal assist and the Carpat has a torque sensor. Cadence sensors work more like an on/off switch. If the pedals are rotating the motor works. The torque sensor gives power depending on how hard you pedal so you have to be putting in effort not just spinning the pedals. Serious cyclists seem to prefer torque sensing but I like being able to crank up the pedal assist and just "ghost pedal" up hills and that's easier to do with a cadence sensor. You need to try a more powerful BBS02 or BBSHD with cadence sensors for pedal assist before you decide hubs are better. You can upgrade the pedals & the front shock after you wear out the OEM equipment. Even after upgrading parts it will still be a very affordable e-bike. I'm not too familiar with that motor having looked into it but not buying it but assume with the right tools it can be opened for maintenance or repairs. If not, when the motor dies look into the Baffang mid-drives as an easy replacement. Ride on & enjoy;)

Anybody a fan of the Sur Ron Light Bee? Totally obsessed with it, really want one, might sell my 2nd car to fund it. In the UK we're just too densely populated to go proper dirt biking anywhere close without the NIMBYS calling the police, with ebikes tho it's hard for them to spot you because of the small bike frame and the quiet motors.

I love the Sur Rons but they're hardly stealthy e-bikes. More like an electric motorcycle you can't legally register. At least in the U.S.

@@michaelsprinzeles4022 Stealthy enough for my uses, my alternative an (illegal to use) dirt bike in full on brap mode = instant calls to police. Imo even the Sur Ron blends in well on the road for what it is, driven past a few and I had to make a double take to check what it was. Plus you can buy the road legal Sur Ron anyway if you want to go legit.

No. There are clutches in the bearings and motor so the motor can't turn the pedals. Also, pedalling doesn't push the motor because of clutches that go the other way.
