TikTok had already destroyed women's self esteem and many younger girls. And those younger girls I'm talking about is Generation Alpha girls, these girls are too young to be worrying about their skin age and how to slow down the AGING PROCESS. That is just so weird and dystopian, what happened to little girls playing with cooking sets like those 8 year olds and having Monster High Dolls.. What the hell happened to childhood man...and I feel like yeah...you guys always knew that little girls in our society have always been forced to grow up faster throughout history, so this is not a new concept. But what is disturbing is how it is accelerating faster due to the Internet, World Wide Web, and 5% of the population having access to social media and it is happening from outside the West and many Western countries. It is so disturbing and sick to even be honest. They are too young to be worrying about how men are going to perceive them. 🤨😐😒

Social media is known to have an impact on people, I noticed it over a decade ago and started letting it go then, I hadn’t used social media in over a decade until I wanted to look at something and needed to log in and couldn’t and eventually it just came back. Back when social media was new people were not using filters and surgeries and people were more envious of lifestyles, now people have to completely change themselves physically to be looked at as beautiful. When back in the day natural beauty was praised. So if social media causes problems, it’s good to let it go as well as the people who only prop the lies up on a pedestal. Don't know how your video ended up in my feed but it intrigued me so I watched. I'll ignore the discussion about whether 'going viral' on TikTok is something somebody should strive for and comment directly on the video. The answer here is absolutely obvious to me because I've traveled to the country many times over the past 10 years. The TikTok algorithm was written by a Chinese company. I don't know if you knew this or not but China is THE most racist country in the entire world, by far. Does it surprise you that they created an algorithm to suppress minority content creators? As for the proliferation of filters? OF COURSE they push people who use filters. The application has been designed specifically to create a toxic and corrosive social atmosphere + and be addictive. THEY WANT TO CREATE DIVISION AND SOCIAL DISRUPTION. There is a reason why the application is being banned. It is a national security concern and it is straight-up damaging to our society. Look at the Chinese version of TikTok. THEY ONLY PUSH CREATIVE AND POSITIVE CONTENT. TikTok takes the worst aspects and ideals of our modern society, juices them up with steroids, and shoves them in front of the most impressionable demographic.

As an esthetician I can professionally say how dangerous children using skincare will be for their future. Think about it this way, doctors will tell you not to take certain medications everyday because your body creates resistance then eventually you’ll need higher doses. Starting a skincare regimen at 10 will permanently alter what your skin reacts too. What will happen once you’re 25+ and you start actually regressing? Your skin is going to depend on those active ingredients bc you’ve used them almost your entire life.

Yeah I get what you’re saying. People like to shame and clown black women for trying to fit into the standard (I mean, what female doesn’t want to be regarded as beautiful?). But for black women’s own sake, I actually think we look more pretty when we enhance our own unique features. That’s not to say we have to be completely natural in every way all the time, but personally, I’ve always noticed that black girls tend to look naturally beautiful, when they “do less”. As in be more themselves. More free from all the add-ons. That tends to look more artificial. I think we’re prettier when we’re more us. I think black girls from the 90s look more themselves if you know what I mean. Natural and pretty. I think black girl would benefit if we aimed for this again.

Honestly, I think that TikTok is a poison. I had it for 5 years and I don't think that it was always this bad. During 2020, it was a nice way to stay connected; it felt like a place for people to rally together. Since the end of Covid, though, I've noticed a lot more negativity being pushed and popularized on the app. I stayed for a long time for the memes and videos that my friends and I would send back and forth, but that was the only pro opposing a laundry list of cons. By the time I deleted, being on TikTok had started to feel like being locked in a room with thousands of high school and middle school bullies. It is not a positive or uplifting place to be and I hope that something changes soon.

I agree with a lot of points in this video but I have to add that I don't think this is new, unfortunately. Tiktok did not introduce this mindset. It's been around since editing depictions of women came around. Women used to have their portraits painted to be prettier, have photographs painted over to make their waists slimmer, magazines have been criticized for decades for pushing unrealistic beauty standards with heavily edited photos. 10 years ago this conversation was all about the negative effects of photoshop, now it's Tiktok filters. People just keep finding more and more drastic ways to warp perception of beauty.

One common trend I see among Gen Z is their want to correct generational trauma and current societal problems for a better life, this is truly heartwarming to see. That being said, I believe that this energy should also be channeled into correcting the vanity and superficial standards that are so prevalent in our society. Social media has played a big role in pushing these standards and it feels like nothing is being done. While Gen Z is working to correct the past mistakes of past generations, they are overlooking their own very prevalent one. The younger generations are obsessed with beauty and very superficial qualities, and they should work toward shifting this attitude toward looking inside. It sounds cliche but "beauty comes from within." This is the message that they should advocate for instead of contributing to the obsession with beauty, anti-aging, and vanity. Gen Z's obsession is leading to a plethora of problems and an unhappiness and anxiety that is hard to pinpoint and get past.

Tik Tok pretty isn't even real beauty since those people don't even look like that in real life. It's people's faults if they're dumb enough to fall for everything that they see on social media and keep comparing themselves, therefore making their self-esteem suffer. I personally think that I'm prettier than most of those people on Tik Tok (pretty face with cheekbones, straight teeth, dimples, skinny, small straight upturned nose, doll-face, big gray/blue eyes, dark eyebrows, porcelain skin, long straight dirty blonde hair with golden highlights....you get it....check out all of the "beauty standard" boxes...) but I could never be as self-absorbed as them and make thousands of videos trying to show off my beauty....so cringy. It doesn't sit well with me to rub into other people's faces my looks...especially when I know that many of them suffer from low self-esteem. Looks mean nothing if the person is dumb or not humble. IMO personality can make the most beautiful person become 10x less attractive.

Also, in terms of the Bachelor, they used to mainly (only tbh) cast white women, with a token black woman here and there. Yes, these girls may at times look like the typical ig influencer, however the casting is more diverse. The standard or beauty, the way women groom and do their makeup is sooo different from the early 2000s.

Tbh the first season cast looked more attractive to me, the 2000s way of hair, makeup, and outfits look so refreshing. They look human.
