What happens when a red gnome and a blue gnome, meant to be mortal enemies, fall in love? ...a sequel about Sherlock Gnomes, I guess?

I kid you not when I says the “hello hello” scene INVENTED romance for me as a child. After watching that scene for the first time I had a new high held standard of what love should be. Younger me would imagine me and the love of my life (which I didn’t nor ever even had) having such a scene like this in real life. I’m not even a big “romance” person in general but that scene….

Sounds way more fun than when my highschool class read Hamlet and informally performed it while reading it surprisingly well with some adlibbing (the kids doing the "play within a play" bit opted to have one guy be like "You deserve so much better than this eraserhead!" because the other dude had hair that did in fact kinda look like a whiteboard eraser, while the girl just started blankly at both of them while eating pretzels, and the guys doing Rozencrantz and Guildenstern usually had their arms around eachother except when one of them played a kazoo during the flute playing scene because they decided the characters were obviously a couple.) Then we watched some actual movie versiond of Hamlet that featured Hamlet making out with his own mom for reasons beyond our collectively ability to comprehend...I remember absolutely nothing about that movie aside from that scene and the entire English class shrieking over one another in horror when we were normally a well-behaved but sleep deprived group...

Interestingly enough, the word human isn't used in any names that i know of, but a lot of real names use words that meant man or human - "-man" as in Herman and Norman is an ending in Germanic names that meant a human or a male human, and ander/andro- (androcles, andromeda) is similar for Greek names. Adam is used as a name in Christianity but meant "man" in the original Hebrew. So its very possible that in Gnome culture, people would think of the word Gnome and the name Gnomeo as two conpletely different ideas, the way we think of human and humus (the dark organic matter in soil) as distinct, despite both being derived from the same word. Or how Augustus and the month of August feel like 2 different ideas and words despite the month August being named after Caesar Augustus Edit: Like an idiot I overlooked the very obvious example that Romeo is derived from the word Rome, yet that's never been an obvious connection to me

I had a serious gnome phase is elementary school i think. I collected around 20 or more garden gnomes and stored them all in my room and they would face towards the wall because i didnt feel comfortable with being seen by things. I watched the same 12 gnome youtube videos on youtube over and over again where people would be stalked by garden gnomes and talk about fending them off and the only thing i asked for for christmas that year was a single garden gnome. I got multiple garden gnomes and i was so happy and i always dreamed about living in the houses in the first gnomio and juliet movie.

You insist you are above all for never having viewed it but, my good man, I must insist, in turn, that you are wrong. I somehow never forgot about these movies. I never thought they were amazing but as a kid I thought they were cute and did the job well. A German friend of my mother said something around the lines of this movie giving her ptsd because apparently gnome wars are actually a common thing in the area she lived. The more unfortunate part is the fact she thought she escaped the gnomes, but instead moved to Utah. And for those who don’t know, gnomes are everywhere here, you can find them in any local own store and the locals here make a bunch of gnome related things. I have a Christmas gnome ornament and a patriot 4th of July gnome fan that people gave to me randomly! That poor woman is forever haunted by gnomes.

When I was studying Shakespeare in English Literature and we were learning about Romeo and Juliet we were forced to watch Gnomeo and Juliet as well as Leonardo Di Caprio Romeo and Juliet. For a class filled with 16 year olds we were vibin to Gnomeo and Juliet 😂

When I was a kid i always thought Juliet was hot, but in like a little kid way. Like, not knowing how you felt. The fact that I only just realized that I had a crush on Juliet confirms my internalized bisexuality even more.

I love the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes movies partly because Moriarty looks like the president on the US $50 bill and partly because he's excellent in that role. However! The lil dude at the end of Sherlock Gnomes has such a wonderfully threatening and unhinged aura while still being cute and that will never not be funny to me

I loved this movie as a kid and practically searched for the movie’s iconic song. When the sequel came out I was just as excited. The twist had me expecting Moriaty to come (which he did) and I wasn’t surprised. But did surprise me was that Watson plotted the whole thing! Then it made me think, how long would it take for Watson to snap and become the next Moriaty?

Gnomeo and Juliet is so seared into my psyche it’s not even funny. To this day I can’t even tell if I like it or not, but I do know that I gained all of my knowledge of Elton John songs from it as a kid, and I genuinely thought the original Shakespeare play was titled “Gnomeo and Juliet”. I was gravely disappointed when I eventually found out it wasn’t.

Lion King was what introduced me to Elton John, then there was that Cinderella movie that reminded me i owned a CD player and it was a crime I didn't have any Elton albums so I went and bought some, then seeing Gnomeo and Juliet with my kids had me digging out those old discs. Don't Shoot me I'm Only the Piano Player was in our car when it got stolen and I was more sad the CD was gone than the car 😅

1.) I LOVE THIS MOVIE. 2.) I know that technically, opinons cannot be wrong, but I disagree with the people who said they didn't like it. 3.) The callout for the person who realized that "Sherlock Gnomes was a gnome and not a tiny human man" halfway through the second movie makes me laugh. 4.) MORIARTY IS FXXKING SCARY

4:04 the funniest thing is Shakespeare's plays DID have a dance party at the end when they were originally represented in the 1600s. The actors did a little jig at the end of the show to be able to leave the scene (as there was no curtain) and lighten the mood after all the tragedy.

"Terrafirminator" works as a pun on at least three different things: The Latin "terra firma," meaning "solid ground" "Terraform," to transform/adapt a planet so as to resemble the earth, especially so that it can support human life. Terminator: The killer robots from the movies Whoever came up with that deserves a raise.

I haven't watched this movie since around the time it came out, i don't even think i watched it on cinema, just the regular old tv, but one thing about me is that my kindergarten teacher thought it was apropriate to play a movie version of Romeo&Juliet to the class of 5 year olds, like the actual thing, so 6 to 7 year old me was incredibly glad when Gnomeo and Juliet didn't die at the end
