Oil palm an edible vegetable oil that comes from the fruit of oil palm trees. Two types of oil can be produced; crude palm oil comes from squeezing the fleshy fruit, and palm kernel oil which comes from crushing the kernel, or the stone in the middle of the fruit. Oil palm trees are native to Africa but were brought to South-East Asia just over 100 years ago as an ornamental tree crop. Now, Indonesia and Malaysia make up over 85% of global supply but there are 42 other countries that also produce palm oil.

Palm oil is one of the major ingredients in Nigerian cuisines and almost 80% of Nigeria's dishes are made with palm oil. It's mainly called red oil in Nigerian because the oil we produce are red in colour and not the over bleached one seen in this video. I can't imagine Nigerian soups without palm oil.

Let me tell the truth about palm oil farm in Indonesia, Behind this video there is a very big rainforest that has been cleared and turned into an oil palm plantation. This is a money game that played by Indonesian Goverment and The Factory owner in Borneo & Sumatra Island ✌ It was made several disaster like Forest fire, landslide, flash flood, and smog in that island.

Palm oil stores solar energy in its wood(Infact the heat of the wood that ignites comes from solar energy... Also CO2), and is an high growth wood crop!! in about 20 years a palm grows up to 12 meters!!..honestly, I think it's comparable to a local forest in terms of wood growth(the measure of stored CO2 and solar energy)... Obviously the wood of the cut plantations must not be burned ... but it must be used to make wood objects that last over time. If it stores solar energy it means it takes away solar energy from the environment and so it breaks global warming. Surely better that non-tree oil crops... Human beings, see better where's global warming.

So don't follow the rules that the "big ones" want to give to you anymore. Take care of your soil, don't kill it's microorganisms and grow different grains, fruits and vegetables on your grounds. Over the time you will have better yields, need less pesticides and you will have a more stable income as a farmer. The global market is no good for farmers and agriculture - wherever you are and nowhere in the world. Go for local marketing and seasonal growing. Best wishes to you and your families

Referring to a country's choice to clear cut forest for short term economic gain of date palm, noal farm writes "of course that's their problem. Everything has two sides". Except you're wrong, when any country decides to clear cut or do damage to land or water within their borders, it affects all of us. The decisions to plant date palm led to horrific fires in 2019 and 2020 that threatened air quality for millions, adding to global biodiversity loss as just one example. The short sighted goals that cripple ecosystems impact us all, especially today where we seemingly are living on the brink of a species wide extinction event brought about by actions undertaken by us

It is the right thing that you are saying, but the way that the west has used these resources to reach their current heights has given rest of these countries their rights to use their resources. Tell me is the west ready to share all their resources that they have plundered from all over the world?
