Tony was right the first time - Richie was baiting him by asking about Janice. He wanted to gauge Tony's reaction. That was Richie's character. He was always pushing, testing, searching for any sign of weakness.

David Proval played psychopathic Richie great. The rest of guys came off cartoonish but he got it down, the hand gestures the stare the way he talked. Really should of keep him around for a few seasons. Him and Tony could of reunited and went against NY together . But I dream

If Richie succeeded in taking Tony out and taking over the family, New York would have killed him faster than Ginny Sack killed those snickers bars when Johnny Sack left the house.

Maybe. Maybe not. You never know. Money is the number 1 priority in this life, not loyalty. If Richie proved to be able to put money in their pocket I'm sure they would've forgotten about Tony within a month.

Something leads me to believe that even Tony's father wasnt too well liked amongst these guys. He was prolly the Ralph of his time. The guy who brings in alot of money and is well connected but on the low theres a decent amount of guys who despise him. Then take in dickie moltisanti, someone every one liked and has nothing but positive things to say. Maybe they thought of tony as that tag along that got lucky with his upbringing

Tony is only the boss because his father died young and he got lucky enough to take over his crew and become a captain. Jackie was the boss and his friend, however, Jackie only became a Capo because Ritchie went to prison. So Tony and Jackie both got their positions through nepotism and family connections. Jackie and later Tony only became boss because many of the senior management were either useless, dead or did not want the job. So yeah the older generation naturally had an issue. Imagine Tony went to prison for 15 years, then came out and had to take shit of the Boss Benny.

I mean he's not wrong. I always thought he should have got we he previously had once he got back from jail. He serves all that time and for what? It seems like everyone that did time got no respect once they got out. Which is odd but it shows there really is no loyalty in the mob. It's just a word they throw around to make people do what they want.

What’s crazy is that when he went on the Talking Sopranos podcast, Dave Proval said that the easiest way to tap into Richie’s character was thinking about all the anger he had towards the film industry for overlooking him for years. The whole beansie thing was because beansie did not pay tribute when Richie was released. Tony dismissed it as " whatever, leave him alone he is a good earner" This is what Tony does, he dismisses his crews. Jackie Sr and Carmine Sr are level headed and patient enough to listen and come up with a problem. Watched the series several times only recently noticed there’s another scene in the mall with that same music much later on.

I really don’t get why Richie was allowed to keep attacking Beansie after the boss of the family told him to back off

One thing about Richie was he couldnt carry a gun in his waistband. Thats for damn sure.

It would have been more interesting to see Tony fighting with Richie instead of Ralph. Richie would have put up more of a fight, he was more vicious.
