I saw this as a kid in B & W TV. The amount of talent on that show was unbelievable! This should be a Twilight Zone episode. The band, the arrangements, the guests, the spage age set! Our generation was lucky. We were the last to be exposed to jazz through mainstream TV. Today's kid's don't have a chance. Thanks so much DRUMUITAR for posting this!

One of my first prominent gigs (!)… playing piano in Paul Horn's Quintet… with Lyn Blessing (vibes), Bill Plummer (bass) and Bill Goodwin (drums). I just saw it for the first time! Wow!!

Thank you for posting this fantastic show! It was not really a great showcase for Buddy, but still great to watch. I wish that he got more to do in the middle of the tune, instead of just at the beginning, as they did with the fabulous bongo/conga player-- later in the show; but still terrific! This was right at the time of Buddy's debut with his new big band. I loved Buddy on Rogers drums at this time. Tony Bennett was (and still is) a very generous man on stage with featuring musicians. What a marvelous video find. Thank you again for sharing this.

The first of the great "Singer Presents" specials, which include Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass from a Mexican bullfighting ring ... and Elvis Presley lighting up Burbank, CA in his 1968 "comeback special." This one videotaped in Brooklyn at the NBC studios there ... using much of the same crew that would later do "Kraft Music Hall" specials ... and in 1975, "NBC's Saturday Night."

One terrific tune after another. After he had a number of ups and downs, you can see that at this point in his career Bennett had really hit his stride.
