He is the one who made me dream about reaching the NBA. With his “guy next door” body. One of the most underrated player ever. Beat Kidd, Nash, Paul, Williams in their prime and kicked some youngsters’ butts like Lillard, Irving, Rondo or Westbrook. Top 3 PGs of all-time behind Magic and Curry for me. Won more than Nash, Paul and Kidd combined.

Underrated because he did his job on offense and got back on defense without theatrics anywhere in between. A staple of a Popovich coached team. It was crazy it didn't matter what kind of player it was or what kind of level they were on. If TP got you with a dirty crossover or Spin move sheesh. It was over at that point because he would have the defender on their heels. You can see it watching the video. Everytime its a nasty one the defender is on their heels. So that means if you tried to move real quick your brain would also register you're off balance. You'll prolly fall so all these dudes you see it in their face lol its like "damn" kind of reaction😅.

Because people think he was only good because he was ok the Spurs. Yet fail to realize he was the best PG of his era. Nash, Kidd, Paul are all-time greats, but each and everyone of them could not do what TP9 did. Which was attack the paint relentlessly, no matter who was gaurding it, and destroy defenses a spin move at a time.

TP in his peak years was better than Stockton in his peak years. TP was able to create offense all by himself in moments when his team needed it. Stockton had nothing in his arsenal that equalled TP's ability to beat his man off the dribble, get into the lane and finish in traffic. His spin move and cross overs combined with his body control and swiftness were simply unstoppable.

Yep. TD got a teenager starting at point guard (TP was 18 when Pop named him the starting P.G.) and a unknown player from overseas that was the 57th pick of the NBA draft from two years prior (Ginobili) and both grew to become Hall of Famers alongside TD. The Spurs didn't sign unloyal ship jumping superstars from other teams to buy Championships. The Heat, Lakers, Celtics all did that type of crap. The Spurs???? They built their Dynasty. TD surrounded by role players (Bruce Bowen, Stephen Jackson, Gary Neal, Danny Green, Fabricio Oberto, Boris Diaw, Matt Bonner, Patty Mills... to name a few) that did their jobs as Pop demanded and with two players that eventually grew into HOF players with the team that drafted them. I just wish the Khawhi situation never had went south because had he remained a Spur...another Dynasty it could've been. Khawhi was drafted by the Pacers and immediately traded to S.A. for George Hill. San Antonio, the fans, were upset because George Hill was loved by the city....until we saw Khawhi play. TD had help for sure...helped by a Spurs organization ran by Pop and R.C. Burford with a keen eye for scouting, drafting, signing and developing players that knew team success was achieved by putting team first.
