I'm not saying she didn't know about it, but for people to say that she was directly behind it is completely unfair and incorrect. Her husband, who was placing money on Tonya's skating career, wanted Nancy out of the way because he knew that if Tonya got to the Olympics it would make him lots of money.

I watched the movie last night, and obviously it's just a movie so might not be correct, but Tonya had no money she came 4th in the Olympics so she lost sponsorships and was back to working as a waitress. The husband or bodyguard paid some guy to do it. Apparently, the bodyguard also sent Tonya a threatening letter. So she actually did much worse and didn’t want it to come out in court, there was proof she knew about it beforehand and most likely would’ve gotten found guilty for orchestrating the attack.

I don't believe that Nancy Kerrigan was all sweet and everything, that was evident when she was pretty rude to Oksana. Do I feel bad about what happened? Yeah I do. I don't think the quality of sweetness or a person's character was at all the criteria why Nancy was the victim of a violence to prevent her from winning at the Nationals and the Olympics. Scared of the ex husband she went back to several times? Willingly? Come on. Did she have a shitty life? Yes. I feel bad for that 100% but she had an idea of what was going on or what their intentions were. She should have gone to the authorities so that if anything did happen she covered herself by trying to inform them. The cops could have alerted Nancy Kerrigan to a possible attack like they did for Tonya when there was a death threat against her. For me it seems like she thought “hey if they do something it’s good for me and I wasn’t involved so oh well”. That’s how I feel.

@@frechiverse no I don’t believe that in her situation. Yes those situations exist but her husband has always been portrayed as somewhat of an idiot. He hit her but was truly in love with her and didn’t really have the smarts. He was never portrayed as threatening in any way. She just didn’t have any examples of good relationships, that’s why she went back to him. It was either her mom or him. The lesser of two evils I guess. That’s why I DID feel bad for her. I have NEVER, in any documentaries, got the impression she was petrified of him because he was always kind of a dunce. She had the opportunity to go from rags to riches had she surrounded herself with better people. Not every woman is a victim. Sorry. I know that’s the world we are living in today, where all woman are victims and never wrong but I don’t buy into it. Her situation was that she was rough around the edges, understandably, and didn’t know how to better value herself because of her moms shitty parenting. That’s why people will always have a soft spot for her, me as well, but she knew what was going to happen. Do I think she should have been banned for life? Not really. That was a huge blow to her. If she knew her bodyguard and ex husband were up to something to screw Kerrigan out of the Olympics/skating competition, Tonya should have said something instead of keeping quiet. This is what flushed her career down the toilet. I hear Nancy wasn't perfect either but that doesn't excuse being attacked in that manner.

i get that but at the same time, what was the right thing to do in that situation? her ex husband was abusive. if she tried to go against his wishes he would hurt her. and even if she went to the police, what was she supposed to say? i think my abusive husband might be planning an attack on an unknown victim, but i have no evidence to prove it. tonya wasn’t perfect but she was painted to be an awful person and its not that simple.

Part of Tonya Harding's problem is she is the victim of EVERY story she tells. This was a great opportunity to be an adult, accept culpability, and sympathize with the actual victim, but it's always more important to convince others that she's a victim too. If she drank, drove, and killed a little girl on a bicycle, she'd blame the kid. Tonya Harding's one of those people that's her own worst enemy, and I, sincerely don't think she's smart enough to understand why.

This, exactly, hits the nail on the head. She had 30 years to condemn the actions and apologize for having knowledge beforehand but doing nothing. She could have said, "Hey, I knew something was up but didn't think they were serious. I feel really bad for Nancy and hope she knows how sorry I am. " She's got to make herself the victim every time though. Over 3 decades now. She had time, she may not have kneecap'ed Karagan but that doesn't make her a good person.

It is interesting after all these years that Tonya Harding has the opportunity to "cash in" on the victimization of Nancy Kerrigan. It is also a fact that Nobody would be interested in this point and time in watching a movie about Nancy Kerrigan. Let's face it, It wasn't right what happened to her but she had the privilege at the time. Normal jealousy..sure....that doesn't make Tonya a villain. Tonya's husband let her down taking matters into his own hands. He destroyed her.

Red flag when Tonya said that she heard them talking about doing something and then she asked what the hell they are talking about? That pause? Hmmm!

I was always in love w/ Tonya, . When things went down, I said " Tonya is not responsable for what other people do ", those idiots had a choice. The movie is about a person who has been BULLIED all the way to the judges. Yes, Nancy is our Queen and we love her. I voted for Nancy while on DWTS, she looks great, very happy for you Nancy, lets be happy for Tonya. The movie is about someone who didn't fold. Tonya, you look great.

I actually felt sorry more for Tonya, but remember hearing about the "attack". But also remember how Nancy reacted to Oksana winning the gold medal too.

I guess nobody else can tell Tonya is a bit intoxicated in the interview? Sadly, she doesn't seem ok even now.

Y’all are ridiculous if you believe her. She could have told someone. She could have dropped it. She heard them planning it according to her. If that’s true, then she’s involved. She sat there quietly & waited for it to happen. Hahahaha society is literally so fucked if we cared to make this woman more money.

Kentucky Wildcat she hasn't aged well at all. The years have certainly not been a friend to her at all. I think she is a heavy smoker.

JIMMY PATTERSON.... Smoking can cause premature aging, but I didn't know it could cause you to look 20 years older than you are. Maybe it is just from smoking and maybe there are other things she does we don't know about.

What about an interview with Tonya’s husband? Interviewed separately and simultaneously. They would probably have their own versions of the truth.

Question - "Did you ever apologize to Nancy?" Answer -- "Enough Apologizing". It's a yes or no answer and those are the words of a true escape artist. Shameful.

Tonya was the victim of a rough childhood and some spousal abuse (according to the biopic), which is not ok. But, Nancy was the victim of this incident. Nancy being a poor sport (according to videos and many comments) doesn't justify the actions

*No doubt* in my mind that if this had been a man mixed up in the scandal, and the spouse a woman who attacked a "rival" athlete, people's reactions would be completely reversed.

Oh I just somehow thought she was the same age... I didn't know she actually aged since. There must be a new Tonya Harding in some sports ad. But this makes me feel preteen ish or early teens.

On Dancing With The Stars Athletes addition. Tonya HArding acted like she was banned from skating for no reason. She said "they took away the thing she loves most." But she wasn't the victim. Nancy Kerrigan was.

Tonya was the underdog from beginning to end. Her skating style was fast and energetic while the others looked like ballerinas on ice. I don't think she knew that there was a plan to attack Nancy in an effort to get her out of the competition. Yet she was blamed for it all and treated unfairly.
