@3:00 Those 4 wire clip leads usually have the 2nd wire feeding back up to the other half of the clip, so each clip has a wire going to it, so it is a true 4 wire system. EDIT: you figured it out 👍🤓

Hi Scott, thanks, yes indeed :), still i think the Kelvins with Rg316 look much better.

True. I have this exact set and that is how they are wired in the alligator. The wires exit together for better physical handling. There are separate blades to the clip ends and the hinge is insulated.

Great video as usual Tony! Very interesting to see the different levels of sophistication in the test signals of the various models of LCR meters. That was very helpful. I have a Hantek meter like the one you showed and purchased a Kelvin clip kit from VoltLog where I built my own 4-wire clips. In those, both wires came in one side of the handle, but the sense wire simply crossed over the hinge of the clip and up to the opposite jaw. Cable length was essentially the same with no continuity between the jaws when open. Love your work, thanks for the content! - JRH

Very nice video, Tony. I am still surprised how you and I have many of the same pieces of test equipment. I also have most of the test cables and fixtures you showed in this video. Again very informative and well produced video.

Hi Tony. Valuable video presentation. Alternatively, one can become handy with (nano)VNA and do a much wider frequency sweep. You still need different component fixtures, like maybe separate for through hole and smd. Oftentimes is this approach maybe some more work as you need to calibrate, but if you have a few standard setups, you can save the cal reference for a specific setup and doesn't need to calibrate every time, I suppose.

Hey Tony!

Great informative video, thank you, Tony! P.S. I bought a Kelvin test lead from JZDZ for my Keithley 6500 on AliExpress a month ago for 17 euros, and they turned out to be very high quality. I'm surprised...

Even though they will fit, these might not work with some LCR meters, such as the HP digital bench type. They specify several ways of attaching the shields together, and to ground, for certain measurements.

Wow! You have a good selection Tony. My only 4 wire is the Fnirsi battery internal resistance meter that has crude and stroppy cables.

Thanks! , yes collected over the years when i also needed to find out what you actualy need and not. Yes Fnirsi is not the best, but it looks nice

Hi Tony, in one of your older videos (Lab tour 2022 #268, at about 7: 53) you showed a Rohde und Schwarz programmable voltage source +40V -40V. I have one too, but one of the EPROMs died and Rohde und Schwarz doesn´t want to give the EPROM data. Is there anyway you could read those EPROMs and publish the contents? I tried averything, looked everywhere, but they are nowhere to be found :/.

You could have just checked continuity between the individual jaws of ech clip with the banana plugs to confirm that both jaws were actually wired separately.
