Hey Tony I was actually scared sparring with my friend he's taller and bigger so yeah during the jabing and the clashes I was in the disadvantage but one of your videos taught me how to dodge punches like jabs and crosses I slip one of those jabs. Then threw a bolo punch in the stomach I was scared that my friend suddenly kneeled down he was in pain and he said that our sparring may not continue.I apologize and said I was only counter strategizing you. Your actually right in boxing no need for flashy combos just need to throw the basic it'll work thanks mate

I needed this. One of my regular sparring partners is 6’4 and I’m 5’8. I hate sparring him. It’s a complete mismatch but weight wise I’m one of the few that can spar with him. It’s so frustrating cause I have to do twice as much work as he does just trying to hit him

I am short..5 foot 4 inches and never considered it a disadvantage. Against taller fighters, its only if they have a longer reach than yours. Some are tall but their reach is not longer. Also for boxing just look at Mike Tyson for a lesson on how to fight larger opponents. He throws his punches as he is moving in at a speed faster than his opponent is backing up. For Kick Boxing look at Iron Mike Zambidas and how he destroyed taller fighters despite being significantly shorter in height. I have more difficulty fighting opponents my own size...LOL.

I’m ALWAYS the shorter man. I am 5’6 and feasibly could cut to 140-147, I walk around at about 170lbs because I have extremely broad shoulders and back.. I am built like Canelo, Cotto or Juan Urango. I have to use every trick in the book to remain in punching range without getting pelted from long range.. Great video
@lukedavenport8576 Жыл бұрын
I was scared to fight taller opponents as my styles is using the jab to keep distance but I probably also just need to get used to it. I’m 6’1, 6’2 in shoes so most guys who are taller are like 2 inches usually at most as seeing a legit 6’4 dude or taller isn’t very common especially being 201 to 178 heavyweight. But I’ve sparred guys 5’6 before and the more I think about it the advantage of being short can be a bit unfair for me as there low to the ground and then they crouch too most of the time so i literally can’t hit them.
@tonypaella Жыл бұрын
I have a similar problem because my natural tendency is to walk my man down. The problem is that I'm in their range more often than they are in mind. So here's a thought: if you don't want to engage, stay away. Don't run, but only come in if you really want to do something. Other than that, stay outside, use a longer guard and feint as if you wanted to come in, but don't.

Head on chest and Mexican style the fuck clean outta them (that’s my fav) Problem is the distance cover which is the danger of being tagged on the way in Or you could GGG them but placing the head on a collar bone (means it’s hard for them the angle away) Or Do what you do with the Mike Tyson low duck rolls then use the power of you coming up with your legs to help punch as you do Also I love a few dirty legal tricks on the inside (hook an arm, create a space on the other side and then upper)
