This scene is perfectly set up. Tony S feels undermined by Tony B's ribbing at the Bing but this scene shows that he busts everyone's balls as a sign of affection. He does it to the ones he loves. Being called out by Tony S at the end of this scene crushes him because he realizes he doesn't have his cousin and friend anymore. Just a boss. You can see the crushed look on Buscemi's face.

@@VV-nz4dv its his own fault. staying out gambling all night with his mafia friends, instead of sleeping to rest for work. then on top of that getting involved with Little Carmine's associates. he could have stayed straight had he stayed away from all the gambling and booze and hanging around. I mean , at the end of the day, he was a grown adult and it is his own fault he was killed. heck he could have even moved away from tony so that he could put some distance between them so that he could stay straight. it is his own fault.

@@jessejames863 Or he could've just been real from the get go and gotten back into the life, for such a smart guy he was pretty naive about thinking he could actually go straight. It always stuck out to me. It always gave me that feeling that Tony B felt like he was still on the inside. He never looked away or backed up an inch from Tony and only begrudgingly said 'got it' when reprimanded. Tony B was always his own boss.
@TheCCCKKK
@TheCCCKKK 3 жыл бұрын
@@jessejames863 It was not entirely his own fault. He certainly played a part in his own downfall but lets not forget that Tony was constantly trying to reel him back in and that all his friends were mobsters. Even if he was just hanging out with them at the Bing or Satriales, he'd be reminded that the lifestyle of a real man who works cannot fit with the lifestyle of selfish criminal.

It is a funny line. People going into the mob knowing that you can only show respect to the boss & you can only laugh with him & not at him. Insert CleverName Or Feech La Manna, or Phil. Come to think of it, a lot of characters weren't afraid of Tony, albeit for different reasons. Phil, becoming eventually the boss of a NY family but also being real old-school, Tony Blundetto, who goes way back with Tony and is considered close family, and Feech, also old school who saw Tony more as a kid than a boss.
@shotgundiplomat2406
@shotgundiplomat2406 5 жыл бұрын
@@Trumpeter2345 Feech wasn't tough, he was a stubborn old coot set in his ways from a time long past, and he didn't want to let it go. He still saw Tony as a kid, even though he was the boss. That's a problem. That's not something to brag about. Phil, ends up becoming the boss of a NY family, so it's a little different because then he's equals with Tony in a way. The difference here in THIS scene is that Tony B isn't even in the game right now, he's doing linen delivery but he's still able to be menacing and stand his ground.

I think what Tony meant to say is "you don't make fun of me... in public". It's clear he loved his cousin and later on in the show they are seen ribbing each other in private or at home, but if Tony allowed Blundetto to rib him in front of his crew he feared losing the respect of his men.
