The Sopranos was a great show, don't get me wrong. My main criticism though is that we never got to know exactly how many years Phil Leotardo had spent in the can. It would have been nice if he ever gave us that information as that would have allowed us to understand his character better.

1000% with Phil's verdict here. Wanting things to go the way of the protagonist aside, they were arguing over profits over hiring cheap labor to avoid having to follow safety OSHA guidelines when working with cancer causing material like asbestos. Tony asking Phil to have some semblance of restraint or humanity when it comes to looking at negotiations between them to act like the two of them aren't already monsters, only driven by profit is one of the biggest jokes of the show.

this is the only time in the whole show, and i ve seen it 7 times, where Phil brings up being 20 years in the can. it's for shock value. amazing.
@matthewbesch42132 жыл бұрын
Nope, it's actually not. I can't remember what season or episode, but he makes a one time smart ass remark about spending 20 in jail. And there is also another episode where I believe either Tony, or someone else from the "family" make a comment about him spending 20 years in.

The two best characters on The Sopranos were Phil and Richie and the two best actors were Frank Vincent and David Proval. Both wonderful guys off screen that could play characters so vile that you wanted to kill them yourself if you saw them on the street. Amazing actors. Richie getting popped by Janice was way more satisfying than the lame way Phil was clipped. I thought they could have made his death a little more interesting.
