Try using no weight at all. Thats what free lining is. And hook the green back through the nose so he can swim as natural as possible.

Thanks for the tip! I definitely could use it cause sometimes the snook are so finicky! 😅 I appreciate the comment and tight lines!! 🎣😁

I agree, this is great advice! Let me add a couple more things. This is a REALLY nice-looking spot! * For Greenbacks/Pilchards-Get some BKK Inline Heavy Circle-SS hooks. I use a 2/0 for small Pilchards and a 3/0 for large Pilchards. For Larger Grunts & Pinfish use a 4/0. With circle hooks don't set the hook. Just lift your rod tip to about 2 o'clock and keep it there! These hooks are not cheap, but they are strong and light and they are razor sharp! Try to stay away from long shank hooks unless there is a lot of toothy critters around! * You need to keep more line on your reel. Not so much for long runs, but you'll find that you will get longer casts and more consistent accuracy. If you have to, tie on more braid if you don't want to sacrifice what you already have. I use about 50 yards of mono backing so that I don't sacrifice so much expensive braid at the bottom of the spool! * You probably learned this by now, but when inshore fishing, NEVER be in a hurry to reel. And NEVER reel while your fish is pulling drag. This is why your line got twisted up. * Get yourself an old weight lifting weight and a piece of rope to tie your bait bucket to. That way, you can take it deep enough to submerge it, and it won't go anywhere! It also keeps the bait cooler! * Lastly, always remember when you see Snook, they have already spotted you, especially the bigger ones! Anytime you see them pinning bait against the drop off like that, back up! Get away from the water and put a live one on that drop off, and work that drop off by casting to the right and left, but only a few feet from shore! If you have extra Greenbacks, use the small ones for chummers. I bounce them off something to stun them or thump them in the head! Get tem to act like something hit them and missed! Many times, this will trigger a feed! Did I mention I REALLY like the looks of that spot! lol

Might have said already.. I don't know if I successfully left comment on other vid. Typed and had an issue. I saw you said you usually put 150y braid. To fill up your spool get some cheap 6-10lb mono like suffix superior, academy h20 express, SeaKnight blade, stren original, even berkley trilene. Spool up enough with those to get right amount of braid over top so you are much closer to spool lip Whatever line is cheap.. I listed some that are reliably smooth without twists or pinched areas and are relatively loose hanging without built in memory. The thinner the line the smoother base to prevent braid from sinking in. I like some nice bright mono like florescent oranges or yellows for no real reason. This will allow a much better cast
@JfishyYT8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! Are you saying to use both braid and mono? I’ve never heard of that but it sounds like it would work! Let me know if that’s what you mean! Tight lines! 😁🎣
@L0st-n0found8 ай бұрын
@@JfishyYT you attach mono to your spool, reel up a bunch then attach the braid to the mono backing and reel until you're near where the spool edge is or for your reel with an angled edge to help line roll off spool you want near where that starts. Like 1/8 to 1/16 away from edge of spool or before the angled cast assist part.

@@L0st-n0found ah I see! Is there a specific knot you recommend for that or just any? I use the fg knot for mono to braid
@L0st-n0found8 ай бұрын
@@JfishyYT i tie a knot i came up with independently which I believe is about same as an Albright, Alberto or modified Albright. I just wrap down moet of time don't wrap back up wraps. I use same knot for attaching backing mono to top braid and braid to mono or fluoro leader The fg is time consuming and I don't cast the knot through guides so don't need one as smooth. The knot doesn't fail me. The backing to top shot of braid should not be exposed (you're usually fighting fish not taking more than the 100 to 200ish yards of braid. If you caught a big fish or Tarpon you might have to worry about getting into the backing on lighter tackle
