I’m glued for tackle descriptions and use. Im trying to get a setup thats good for inshore and close to shore in the gulf. Having setups for 3 people ( my wife, daughter and myself) i don’t want to carry 3 setups for each of us. Two at the most, but prefer one, and another of the same for backup. Recommendations gladly accepted!!

Love the fact that you always keep it real and down to earth. Seasickness can happen even to the most experienced fishermen and even though I'm not one of them, haha, I will agree that seasickness absolutely sucks. The best thing that works for me is either candied ginger, or ginger hard candies. Good job for making the most of it and sharing it with all of us!

Couple things for sea sickness I’ve learned quite a few after decades on the big water. For Dramamine or patches, if you initiate them the night before going blue so they can work much better to get the drug in your system to calm the inner ear. As a sailor on USN faster movers in the day, the cooks always served up heaping portions of greasy spaghetti for lunch to keep your innards lubricated. Worked fine. If you’re underway, munch down on a box of saltines and Coca Cola to soak up the suds in your tummy. Getting sick on the briny is nothing to get upset about, it happens to us all. Just prepare for like anything else and keep on hookin’.

Take the Dramamine B4 you go out if you know it is going to be rough, taking after you start feeling bad doesn't help. I'm sure you know that already. Navy here, I never got seasick when I knew we were going into rougher seas, because I always Dramamine up. It is all about how you see the horizon, and how your body adapts to the change of dips rolls and upheaval. The only time I thought I was going to hurl was on a coast guard cutter doing radio testing as a contractor in 6-foot swells 100 miles off of St Pete doing steerage way speed in a radio room sitting with face in a fan at high-speed trying not to hurl. I didn't', but man! As soon as we got done, I ran to the flying bridge to see where I could puke, once I felt the wind in my face, and got fixed on the horizon, I started to calm down the puking sensation. Exhausting for anyone to go through. It will bring any woman or man down! Good on Ya "ship mate" jim

Captain, you're living life the right way. Those locations out in the Gulf and/or inshore are beautiful, and to be fishing with your mom is a blessing. Great videos. By the way, I got seasick once, and I wasn't even on the water. I had an inner ear infection that affected my balance pretty badly, one day. Waves of dizziness came until I became really ill. I took Dramamine for it later that day, and that helped. It never happened again, but that one time was brutal. ...

I am disabled now, but I used to religiously fish Deep Sea Headquarters out of Port Aransas Pass in Texas when I visited relatives in the Corpus area. We had a few trips where the seas were 5-10's, and that cured me from ever wanting to go out in those conditions again! To stop the sea sickness, we nibbled on sandwiches which is what the captain recommended, and it staved off the illness quite a bit. One big ole fella lost his cookies on the concrete deck and made for a nasty mess. That's what finally did me in and I blew my oats after that! LOL Never forgot that particular trip because I won the fish pot with a 25 lb. yellow fin jack while half sick!

I spent three weeks sea sick on the first trawler i worked on up in the gulf of Carpentaria in Northern Australia. After three weeks of spewing I finally got my legs. We would re-supply and unload out at sea, so unless you had a engine or other mechanical break down we would be out working for 8 months. the skipper wouldn't stop unless i got comatose, finally started to enjoy myself after a month. That was a hard time. But I stayed on the boats for a few years.

Stephen, I am the king of seasickness! Went out on Lake Erie when I was a teen, on a 26 ft cabin cruiser and we hit a storm out there. We were on our way in and I was laying on the roof puking green stuff that I never ate. Then, the engine quit. Krikey! After about an hour, the boat owner finally got the engine running again and we came in. It was a bad day!

@@jasonshaw4572 Yes putting them in the water stops the motion in the head, it calibrates the body and the seasickness goes away, but if the water is very cold it's a problem. People that get seasickness are not on the water a lot The more they go on the water the more used to the motion their body gets. In time it gets less and hopefully it goes away.

Best thing to do if you are not a conditioned seaman is to just stare at the horizon and sit down for about 15 minutes. It goes away once you stare at the horizon long enough. Your brain should balance out after a while. Cool catches. I should be out there filming some episodes in late spring, got idaho bass fishing to attend to for a week starting tomorrow. After that some more salt water trips on the boat and then Texas in late spring and Florida in november. My year is going to be filled with fishing from all over the u.s

I've been seasick before, and found that puking over the side of the boat really helped (felt much better after that, LOL). What I usually do for nausea, is to eat mint ice cream (or ice cream sandwiches), or gummy candies (like gummy bears or gummy 'blackberries and raspberries'). These have never failed, for me, when I used to have regular nausea (not sea sickness related).

Correct 07bently if you care about those in the boat with you leave it for another day or find a beach from the boat and fish the beach.. Usually I'm with friends or family and they know I'll look after them

@@supervisorone5960 depends on the person. If they’ll be fine then I’m fishing but I won’t be out there all day. But say it’s my mom or something then we’ll definitely pack it up

Hi Stephen I have been fishing in very rough waters for over 44 years in Wellington New Zealand and would have to go in when I felt sick. But friends put me onto no coffee before you go out no milky breakfast and I eat ginger biscuits all the time I am on the water. Now I do not get sea sick.
