For me having grown up in a very religious Christian family, Wings For Marie Pt. I and II are probably the most heavy hitting songs in Tool's entire catalogue. Beautifully written lyrics and the instrumentation from Adam, Justin, and Danny sonically and atmospherically accompany the themes of the lyrics. However, imo, the greatest lyric Maynard has ever written in Tool as well as any of his other bands is: "Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here." Incredible.

We actually do know why the protagonist in Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned got there. The obvious answer is the song is about LSD, but what most people don't know is if you take Faaip De Oiad from Lateralus, and layer it over Lost Keys, you unlock the other half of the song. The Drums match up, and the guy freaking out about escaping Area 51 IS the protag from LK/RS, and this plan of world domination by aliens is the message he struggles to remember throughout Rosetta Stoned. The song cuts of RIGHT when the Doctor starts talking to him in LK. Faaip De Oiad translates to Voice of God as well. Spiritual Beings/Aliens are a common testimony of LSD users and other similar drugs. This is the purpose of FDO, not just looping the Lateralus Album back into The Grudge. They also did this trick with Viginti Tres and another song, although I forget which other song it was, it might have been 2 others.
@Straw_Breaker
@Straw_Breaker 28 күн бұрын
Regarding that last part, what you're thinking of is this: if you play Viginti Tres and Wings part 1 respectively at the same time as 10,000 Days, you get a hidden song, as those first two are as long as the latter when played back to back Viginti Tres is Latin for 23, which is said to be the number of synchronicity

10,000 Days isn't perfect. HOWEVER I don't think Tool has made 1 bad song. Fans say "Your favorite Tool song is the last one you listened to." and that couldn't be more true. My favorites always flip-flop around, songs like Intention have there time and place, even interludes like Ions or Die Eir Von Satan have their days. Hell, they're joke songs like Maynard's Dick are better then some band's best. I'm not a superfan out of obsession, they earned my respect overtime. My favorite band next to SWANS. My brain can barely handle all this IQ, lol.

I love this album whole heartedly. Alot of the songs on here took me awhile to warm up to, as I learned to appreciate their meanings and they became more relevant to my life. I will say, people seem to enjoy shitting on the album after this Fear Inoculum, personally I think it is absolutely fantastic overall. There are a few on there that arent as fast paced or catchy, but they have been super meaningful for me as a 23 year old growing up and learning to handle myself in the world. People just be hating to be honest, I can see complaints but I dont see what people get out of that. Descending, the title track, and pneuma in particular blew me away live. But Invincible and Culling voices were also fantastic when I saw them in person, I think it's a seriously great experience to see em live if you can. Also I love Rosetta stoned, didnt used to but its grown alot on me especially hearing it live. Shit went crazy. Also it's just a hilarious song. Though might be funny to me because of my own experiences with acid. Another edit: Intension is fantastic I think the mood was just soured from others before, seemed like didnt have as much energy for it. It's meant to just be a calm thoughtful song, nothing to blow your mind.

As you’ve said you find criticisms at certain points of the songs. I have criticisms about your reaction. It is so much of a struggle to listen to your style of reactions when you input that rap crap into the mix as part of your schtick and this is super annoying when it comes to songs that are meant to be listened to with good intentions and by listening to songs that are meaningful and of a serious matter then you input your lip synch of a sound or lyric you’re trying to match what’s in your head is so disrespectful to the artist and thier music. It’s close to going to a funeral and sitting in the background with you mouthing “ waaa waaa waaa”. sound bites. It’s best if you leave this band to your dad alone.
