Wow - what a compliment to Kyuss! Kyuss must be the the most overlooked metal band ever.

Fun fact. The song's about brushing your teeth. Even Josh Homme has said that in interviews
@athiu13 жыл бұрын
The main point is that Tool is paying homage to Kyuss and I think that's great. Kyuss stayed fairly unknown (compared to Tool)... that's what kept Kyuss pure and untwisted.

If anyone could point me to a better quality version of this, I would be infinitely grateful... this has always been one of my favorite Kyuss songs, and to hear the great Tool cover it, is just awesome.
@insidious42016 жыл бұрын
Kyuss & Tool are both great for what they are, no point in comparing the 2 when they're so different. That said, this cover *almost* sounds like it coulda come straight from a Tool CD, that's how good they infuse their sound into anything they cover.

There was an actual video to this on youtube years ago, and yeh, Maynard says "This is song by a band called Kyuss." Pretty sure he introduces Reeder too... ...god the amount of psychedelics I've consumed at Tool shows... such goooood times... =O)

i've seen Tool do several songs live they dont use on any albums. sometimes you just get lucky and hear one at a Tool show. Nothing compares being at the live show, in full 3D and HD. lol

i think this is a step up from the kyus version, however, no one besides josh homme could write such a song, complex with a feel of simplicity, and i feel tool upgraded it by adding in their style

Tool is GOD, and Maynard James Keenan is my hero. Its a shame this song is only live. This is the best copy I've heard though. I think Scott Reeder (Kyuss) is amazing. This song introduced me to Kyuss and I thank GOD for that.

I actually have no idea how I WASN'T into Kyuss back when they were around. I was into most of the early 90s "grunge" bands before anyone else around me, their sound reminds me a lot of early Soundgarden, and I know I would've loved them. I knew they existed, but for some reason I never listened to them. I think it's because they were always lumped in with the heavier metal bands on Headbanger's Ball, and I wasn't into that at the time. Now I wish I hadn't missed out.

Justin Chancellor and Scott Reeder on stage together? O.o Damn, listen to this... whoever said that having more than one bass player is overkill obviously hasn't heard this shit before. The twist that these two put on the original bassline for the song sounds fucking amazing. As a bass player... i'm shitting rainbows right now. Though great work on both guitar and drums also, not to mention... Maynard's vocals give this song a whole new vibe. I'd give up anything for a higher quality version.

@Lisajo009 I hate when people speak only of maynard. Its Tool, the message and feeling is mutual, and that goes for every other band. The singer is so often the most acclaimed, just look at the doors its so often about jim and to forget about the other bandmates views is idolization of a single person, an entity among the whole, the synnergy is the beauty...

I was never arguing, nor over analyzing anything. Nor was I implying that the members of Tool were Satanists in any way. All I was saying is there are similar themes lyrically with many of their songs. There are also some influences from Carl Jung, Nietzsche, and even Christianity in their lyrics. Their lyrics have a lot to do with introspection and psychology, philosophies of many kinds, and religioous themes. I was not labeling them, but simply offering a comparison.

Kyuss is a Stoner Rock band, which original made this song try listen to "space cadet", "one inch man" and "50 million year trip" by same band, i think they give somewhat the same feeling. tjek out others stoner rock bands like: Fu Manchu, Cluth and so... stoner metal too is good, the band DOWN listen to "bury me in smoke", "hail the leaf" "lifer"
