My favorite part is that there’s some guy in his 40’s-50’s walking around out there who was the inspiration for this song and had to live with the knowledge that Tool has made millions of dollars off of this song mocking him. Talk about the ultimate revenge.

This was the very first track I heard off Aenema in 1996. My buddy had it and blasted me with it in his truck.You have to have balls of steel to think this, let alone say it. Imagine, in '96, you're telling your fans "I'm the man, now shut up and buy this." So I did. Sight unseen. I only heard the one song and paid $16.00 for it afterwards. You wouldn't believe my surprise when I heard the title track. This band's following is made up of humans that are a little bent. You have to be to go on this journey with them. I am so glad you go into these grand scapes unfettered. You kind of have to, so that it speaks to you first. Brilliant work!

@@dannydimesburner7066 I was really glad not to have gotten to far removed from their humble beginnings. Undertow is definitely one of my favs. I was able to get the Opiate at the same time. I draw for a living and tool is only one of a couple bands I listen to when I put graphite to paper. Have you seen them live? If not, you must. Its surreal. Not like anything else.

I like how he took the time to describe all the brands he was wearing and consuming right down to the Coke he was drinking to showcase that he was a hypocrite for saying TOOL was selling out. A complete sellout telling Maynard he’s a sellout is akin to the pot calling the kettle black. It’s just a song about the meme of two Spider-Men pointing at each other.

The message from this song is something I think alot of people could use hearing. Many people think the persona they see a famous person present when they're on press tours and promotional interviews is who that person is in their daily life. That's very rarely the case. Also, people get way too familiar with the famous people they choose to follow. You may know alot about them, but they're not your friend, and you should not really feel as comfortable as the guy in this song felt like talking to Maynard.
