My late husband was a drummer and he loved covering Tool, it was a work out for him and he loved it. The band called him their human metronome. He'd be soaked with sweat when they did Tool covers but he loved them. Him and the bassist were always so into it. I miss him so much but memories of watching him behind the drums, lost in either a cover or original was always so incredible for me. Hearing this song brings back bittersweet memories for me as a widow. He loved watching ya'll's reactions/reviews and I happened across the link this morning and decided to watch this. I'm glad I did. I remember watching with him. He'd have enjoyed your reaction to Rush and Tool.

@@justrichard2491 The band used to call him 'the human metronome' or 'the heartbeat of the band'. We were in a recording studio one day and they had Scott (my husband) lay down the drum tracks first. He played through all 12 songs and then had an idea for one of them. The producer says "You want to re-record it?" Scott says "Nah, man just punch in." He said "Dude...you sure?" Ten minutes later the additions were made. The producer turned to me with this awed look on his face. "I been a musician all my life, been recording people for 20 years...NEVER have I ever had a DRUMMER who could do a perfect punch in like that." The rest of the band were like "He's awesome." - The rest of the day and the next Scott spent napping on the couch in the studio while everyone else recorded their parts. It was just a bit hilarious to me that he'd laid down all 12 drum tracks in less than 2 hours.

Longtime Tool fan here and linguistics aficionado. I have yet to meet another Tool fan who knows how to pronounce this song's name either, but it's very simple. The "æ" vowel in old English and modern phonetics is pronounced like the "a" in "cat" or "ash" in American English. The song's name is a play on words of "anima" (which may be a reference to the Latin word for life/soul/consciousness or the Jungian concept of the unconscious feminine side of man) and "enema" (which means what you think it means and is certainly reflected in the song's lyrics). Bottom line: It should be pronounced like "animal" without the "l" at the end.

@riphopfer58165 жыл бұрын
Max Kilcoyne Oh, I completely agree. I wasn’t comparing skill, but styles. KJ has a notorious predilection for tribal-style drumming, driving-yet often oddly liquid-bass lines, and the use of the guitar as a primarily atmospheric instrument, even when played as a rhythm instrument. That was the connexion I was attempting to draw.

I live in the Seattle area, so I've seen them at The Gorge, Mercer Arena, The Tacoma Dome and The Paramount Theater. (I've seen APC 2x's, once with the original members(DAMN Paz was/is hot!)) Honestly, I still don't care for 10,000 Days, but it's been a long time since I have it a chance, so perhaps it's time for another go at it, anyway, have fun at the show, and BTW, you've inspired me to look up tour info so I can go, cheers!

@@eclipsewrecker That part is probably the best part of that song. And your right, they might second guess that the song is over on that part. But thats when you tell em to smoke a steamroller blunt and close your eyes. Cause on that part, after all the fustration and rage, is the eye of the storm. A vast openness compels your very being. A feeling more than yourself, free to wonder. Then, those couple seconds of silence leave you breathless just before a rude awakening of Maynard's shout. For a first time listener, your not gonna get that like the rest of us. Which is an unfortunate burden.
