Stoney Ridge Farmer love your videos. Our farmall 140 is broke down but has all the implements needed. Bedder, planter, fertilizer distributor, etc. I’m considering this bedder for our Kubota. You ask for suggestions so here they are. The attachment is known in my part of the world is called a hilling disc but usually has 3 disc blades on each side digging deeper in the area where your plants roots will grow. This kind of disc just requires one pass down the row, multiple passes compacts the soil under the tires. If you will lengthen your top link until your disc is level and spread your hilling blades wider and deeper you will have more soil for your plants to root in. Run your sweeps as deep as you can get them to loosen the soil that you have packed with your tractor. Everyone has their own method of making your rows but larger rows will hold moisture in the additional soil plus any fertilizer you might use. Try this and see what you think. Personally I prefer the larger rows. I love the Massey Ferguson tractors, have had two in my life and I want another now. Keep up the good work. Thank you Phil

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Your soil is beautiful, try watermelons and cantaloupes and in the grocery stores what we would feed the livestock is $7-$10 so the farmers might think about trying them and I’m sure online you can find a buyer to buy the field. The last local watermelon I bought was $12 so if you have a local farmers market you will do well there I would think. Good job and good luck. Thank you, Phil

I got something like that . It came with the Hillers , Cultivators , and middle buster . I like the hillers for corn after you side dress your corn hill the corn . It helps the corn stay up in strong wind . I'm going to make a video about the setup .

Yep. You're right. That won't fit my lawn tractor. Our gardens are all decorative now - flowers and a little rhubarb. Our vegetable picking is done at the stores, several of which are a few miles from where we live. Sure is interesting watching you work on your gardens. Excellent musical overlay, as usual.

Your results in the look of the gardens reminds me of using my Troy-bilt rototiller for my gardens in St. Louis and in Michigan. I would till both directions then crossways to make the ground smooth. I then attached the hiller-furrower and tilled every other row to make wide hills for my plants then mulched the low rows with newspaper and straw or hay to cut weeds between hills. Worked great. We had to plant on Memorial Weekend because of the weather.

The sweep is the iron making contact with the soil. They come in many widths. The tine is the steel spring the sweep attaches too. They come as "C" and "S" spring tines. The spring action is what holds constant pressure to the sweep. The old style shanks (Farmall) have adjustment screws on the back of the shank that allows the sweep pitch to be adjusted.

Love it I use to walk behind a big wheel farmall whith the front v wheels and it was 2 dollars a hour getting dragged behind the tractor was a horse drawn plow set wooden handles I'd have to use and after a horse drawn potatoes garden hillerman whith wood handles I'd walk behind the tractor as its pulling it I'd have to steer it and lift it when needed and dust to the face and heat from tractor and heat from the sun doing huge gardens back when I was a young teen like 12 13 plus for 2 a hr but it was hard but it was a learning experience but use to love the old farm and your place the land setting sort of reminds me of it but whith more modern equips lol anyways have a good night and godbless bud

My mom had a green thumb. I always thought if she planted a popsicle stick it would grow into a popsicle tree. That is just how good she was with plants. She passed away in 2007 at the age of 86. While watching your video I thought, "I just wonder how much better of a garden she could have grown if she had the equipment that you have." My mom was a super gardener. I once saw her pick pole beans out of a Maple tree that was close to the garden. Of course she was old school and everything was done by hand. The only help she had was a tiller and us boys to till the soil for her. Thanks for the video.

We used bedders on some of cotton and bean ground But, on some we planted flat and built the beds around the plants with a cultivator either way works good

I came here specifically to provide some feedback on my own personal experience with Everything Attachments. I called EA prior to placing my order for their GB70 and was told they have them in stock. My order was placed on 3/4/2022. Today is 3/14/2022 and my order still haven’t shipped. Will not be doing business with them again.

you do understand that Everything Attachments isn't Amazon right? Most attachment companies are months out....they simply cannot keep up with demand. I'd say...before flying hot and complaining...understand that supply chains are backed up....demand is high and waiting 10 days for an attachment to be shipped is nothing to whine about. Be patient buddy....or go to your local tractor dealership....lead times are 4-8 months in most cases! You are being too impatient....not like you can use it right now anyway buddy. They aren't amazon...call them and ask to speak to Travis...tell him Stoney Ridge Farmer said give a call and inquire. 10 days? You gotta understand that supply chains all over the planet are backed up for months ....10 days...more like 3 months is normal during these times....I ordered a $25k batwing mower from woods last year! It's still not been built...be patient..ya can't use it right now anyway

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Amazon tells me exactly when my item will ship. They would go out of business if they waited 4-6 weeks to ship their products. I am well aware of supply chain issues, which is why I took the time to call EA prior to placing my order. They told me the item was in stock. I would have no reason to complain if they’d told me my orders estimated ship date was a month out, but I didn’t find that out until I called them days after my order was placed. I’m not sure when you plant your potatoes, but here in eastern NC they are supposed to be in the ground now. Whining? “Flying hot and complaining”? My comment, or whining complaint, was purely factual and meant to provide my personal experience for potential customers.

I don’t use the tines behind the tires so I get nice paths between the rows. I’ll have to try flipping the center spade around like you did and see how that works. Never considered even trying it that way. I use a heavyhitch version, but I have a much smaller tractor and garden.

I used a homemade bedder last year in the garden, but didn't this year. I regret that decision! It didn't make rows as nice as the Everything Attachments bedder either. Another great video!

Hey Josh great video man I really enjoyed this one too and I got to tell you A friend of mine who is 67 I think years old told me that you cannot plant in the same spot year after year or your tomatoes and stuff is going to be smaller not as big as it used to be I think it's because he's not feeding the dirt like you are

Kinda true, But I always plant my tomatoes in the same rows and the only thing I use, is grass clippings to smother the weeds. Edit: Forgot to say that my plants have never shown any kind of suffering from putting them in the same rows, always big and healthy.

Scott....so we rotate our crops throughout the various gardens. Next year we'll move most everything from the lower to the upper. This year we planted corn in the same spot...but melons in a different place...our tomatoes were rotated to the other side of the garden also

Another great vid! Question: When planning your garden, specifically the orientation of the rows, how do sun exposure, average wind direction, and land contour factor in? For example, do you tend to run your rows north-sout so that they get more or less equal sun exposure, with contour and wind secondary factors? (I mention wind b/c olive trees need it to pollinate -- bees won't do the job.) Tx!

Orienting rows is mainly for drainage. That's so when you get too much rain the excess can drain off. Where I am we can get some heavy rains. The sun is in the sky so sun exposure isn't a problem. My main veg. plot the rows run north to south because thats how the land slopes and its located with some big trees on the west side to shade my garden from the harsh afternoon texas sun. I plant the more tender crops on the west side of the garden so the shade from the trees gets to them first. Hot sun loving plants like okra and sweet potato I plant on the east side so they stay in the sun longer.

Great video. I subscribed. I'm trying to figure out stuff the same way you are. I'm working with a Kubota L 3800. I'm thinking of buying that attachment for planting corn and pumpkins. I'm working with Rocky Pennsylvania soil. How do you get your seeds in and cover them up? Can you use that same attachment to cultivate the weeds out? Do you row your corn and pumpkins the same way?

I've done the bedding by hand once....this will save you about 800 hours of work as well as your back, joints, etc.

Yep..this garden was tilled and then bedded....you could plow...disc and then bed up the rows if you like

That thing does make a nice bed but you have to make 3 or 4 passes to get there. I use one of two bidders or hillers. One is a disc bedder that has 3 blades to a side, the other is a pair of middle busters on a tool bar. Both will get the job done in 1 pass.

Is there a purpose for running the tines and sweeps while you were bedding the rows or was running the tractor back over to compact between the rows an afterthought? Seems like you could have done the same thing without using the tines and sweeps and saved some time.

I was told that plowing may be necessary before tilling for soil that was never planted. Any thoughts? There's a video somewhere out there where a guy uses those tines on his corn field in between the rows to uproot any weeds before they get started while the corn was still short enough to drive over without really contacting the bottom of the tractor.

We used a bedder and this same seeder but now our beds/rows are being overrun with grass and weeds. I use a tiller between the beds/rows, but can’t seem to control the grass in the beds/rows. Did we miss a step...like spraying before planting?
