I'm not sure if you know this but this is the only video on KZbin (probably on the internet too) that shows what you're plugging into the input port. I'm new to the hobby and I've been searching for days (literally) for a tutorial on how to storage charge! Every video I've watched shows a close up of the screen of the device they're using without actually explaining to the viewers what to plug and where to plug. You explained the whole cycle. Thank you very much!!

First and foremost, phenomenal video with great attention to detail. I have 3 questions. 1. How efficient is the “recharging function”? 2. How does continuous mode work? 3. What is the point of pairing this with the ToolKitRC P200 Power Supply?
@RCVideoReviews3 жыл бұрын
1. Not sure. I haven't tested. 2. Continuous mode will start charging the next battery with the same profile as the previous battery with nothing but a battery change. 3. The M7 is a DC charger. You either power it with a battery or some other DC source like the P200.

John I didn't see a balance port for when you are pushing the power back to the input battery. is this not a concern? I am sure it wouldn't be used very often but I think it should be there. Now I am new to Elec. planes, came from glow so no expert here or even close. But very cool charger.
@RCVideoReviews3 жыл бұрын
There is no balance port on the input side. For regen discharging you really don’t want to be pushing the source to anywhere near its peak as there is no monitoring on that side.
@The-bashing-zone4 ай бұрын
I think the better way would be to plug batteries you want to discharge to the input and set cut off voltage to the desire sweet spot 3.8V * number of cells. Two bird with one stone. Discharging packs to storage and not possibly overcharging the "source" battery.
@FL_Engineer3 жыл бұрын
Question on the recycle function... What's the advantage of doing it this way vs. just swapping the input/output?
@RCVideoReviews3 жыл бұрын
The regen discharge focuses on the state of the battery on the output side. i.e. It changes it's state from current to discharged or storage based on parameters in the profile. i.e. If I set profile to storage @ 3.8v/c, the regen discharge takes the flight pack(s) down to 3.8v/c. If you flip the batteries and charge you can run into two issues: 1) The source voltage might be too low for the voltage regulator to upscale to match the output voltage. i.e. It can make chargers give up if they have to feed a high voltage/high amperage output battery with a low voltage/high amperage input battery. 2) There is no way to govern the correct stop point for the input battery (other than to use input profile settings which has its limits), this is the one you're trying to get into a desired state of 3.8v/c. The profile will simply charge the output battery to the configured state of 4.2v/c. If your output battery is the big one, that will kill the input battery. The whole point of all of this is which pack is the focus of the desired outcome. If we want the flight pack reduced to storage, the desired outcome is 3.8v/c therefore, it goes on the output side in regen storage which can be configured to reach 3.8v/c. Any more simple questions???? ;)

I think the value of this charger for someone, that has very few models is massive. If you have 10+ models and electronics fail or missbehave, you can swap parts for diagnosis. With few models, you're guessing and buying replacement blind. It's so great, I think everyone should have THIS model, and some dual or quadruple as addition if needed. It sucks toolkitrc multi battery chargers do not have M7's features. My plan is to buy used or as new small AC bricks, that charge through balance port, with 1-2A output, to charge multiple at once, and potentially finish with M7, or storage charge with M7 after brief multi charge with all chargers. Those bricks are so cheap and provide redundancy, while I won't use more than 3s. If a channel fails on a two or quadruple charger, you're stuck with it-shucks to bin, sucks to loose channel, hard to sell half failed charger. One thing no one mentions, is despite the great value in functionality, this charger requires BIG additional investment, especially for users, that don't solder. All the necessary and useful extensions it needs, while providing none, will be very costly. That is something, many happy buyers will be disappointed about.
@sebastiansombra2 жыл бұрын
The regen function is a cool feature, I can't remember how many times I ended up with full charge batteries after a day of flying. Only downside I see is that it doesn't balance the battery that is being charged.
@RCVideoReviews2 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't. That said I don't think any regen chargers balance the source. That might be a good product upgrade because they don't check balance under load either which wouldn't be a terrible idea.

Unfortunately, the device doesn't entirely convince me with regards to the built-in servo tester. I have discovered that digital servos cannot be controlled because they constantly flutter. If I want to test the servos of 2 retractable landing gear, which are usually connected via a Y cable, that doesn't work either, only 1 servo moves at a time . Otherwise a good device and also a good test.
