I'm in southwestern Michigan. We get hit with lake effect snow. Two of my neighbors have gone electric lawn and snow. The ladies love them. Never any problems. One of them will do my 50 feet of driveway since I no longer can. My old big Snow King is retired. I had it modified and used to do 10 drives in my block and the sidewalk. Too old and broken now...me that is.

I’m near St. Joe. Have used an ego snowblower since moving here and have been very impressed. The steel auger breaks up the icey mix the plow leaves and it even tackled the 12+ inch storm we had last year. Two of my neighbors have them too and are very impressed as well.

For me, the biggest advantage of a snowblower/snow thrower vs a shovel or snow pusher is that, when the weather warms up, relocated snow melts off at the same rate as the base snow. Pushed snow/shoveled snow tends to melt much slower, long after the base snow is gone.

Thank you for this video as it helped convince me to get it, as I don't want to mess with everything needed to keep a gas mower going. Now I live in WV and the snow is mild each year where I live, and the EGO you used will be perfect. Currently I am using a Snow Joe Snowblower which is a plugin snowblower and gets the job done (only issue of course is messing with the extension cord).

Just put my order in for the dedicated snow shovel! We don't get a ton of snow around here in southern NY these days and I have a pretty small driveway to clean up. I'm going to keep my old Murray gas guzzler for big storms but I think the shovel should do the trick for most situations. I deliberated for a while between getting this model and the multi-head, but after seeing the improved ergonomics and lighter weight, it was a no-brainer.

I have the Toro Power curve plug in and a 100' 12 gauge cord. My battery never runs out. Sounds about the same and will continue working until the job is done. No battery degradation either. But it is a good evaluation and if the unit was not $900 at Lowe's it might be a good option vs the corded toro unit at $200. Really the batteries are very expensive and a good profit center for both Lowes and EGO. If you don't have a need for the battery in the summer, then this might not be the best decision. If you go with this

If you're dealing with physical issues, or have kids who can't shovel all day, or you want it done faster, these are great. If you'd rather shovel, that's fine too. I'm in Canada land, and for most of the snow season, a larger electric snow thrower shovel like shown at the end would be great. But once it's up almost to my knees with that rare kid winter storm, a bigger snow blower is needed. I understand that cold temps might kill battery use life, and if there's a reliable fast charge or multi battery charger, that would be a plus. Just keep them inside and let them charge, swap out as needed.

The Ego snow shovel needs to have a replacement auger or replacement auger blades for when you run into an obstruction and they explode. Once that happens, it's pretty much useless. There's not even a replacement auger easily available at the local big retailers to get your back in the game.

I’m sure Toro and Milwaukee have them beat in snow and lawn. Personally, I had a battery lawnmower and have switched back to gas aswell as snowblower. Batteries are too much and don’t last in charge duration or life longevity. In Canada, the batteries are very expensive aswell as just the tool. And customer service is also an issue here/no stock.

@@ToolReviewZoneby the way, I saw a guy on another ego video finish up with the Bristle attachment and it cleans the snow down to the pavement. Not a trace of snow left. The only Ego machine I had was a self propelled 20" lawnmower...garbage was what it was, way too expensive, and never worked right, gave the mower away pretty much never again would I waste that kind of money on anything from Ego. The mower would randomly shut itself off without any warning lights to tell why, the self propel would randomly stop working....wasn't worth the money, and definitely not something I'd recommend.

I also have one. Battery is very expensive and malfunctions often. So I switched to Ryobi and haven’t had any issue for over 5 years now.
@DanielleEmberleyАй бұрын
I have the lawn mower and have been using it for 6 years. If mine shuts off it's usually because I have snagged one of those locking clips that lock the extending handle on a bush or shrub.
@wildbill23cАй бұрын
@@DanielleEmberley Mine shut off for no apparent reason on flat ground....so not sure if it was an electronics issue, or what but it wasn't being overloaded or overheated, at least I wouldn't think so, I was mowing a maintained yard...the self propel on it would randomly stop too, which made me think that it was something faulty in the control board somewhere....course getting Ego to do anything about it probably wouldn't have worked out, so I just sold it really cheap, basically here's the batteries and charger, and you get a half functional lawnmower as a bonus....sure wasn't worth the ridiculous $800 though.
@DanielleEmberleyАй бұрын
@@wildbill23c Just thought I would mention my experience. I do find those latches associated with extending the handle have to be completely closed. As I rarely collapse the handle for storage I have been tempted to wrap tape around them so they do not open. For a random shutdown that's the first thing I check. If the latches open the slightest amount the lawnmower will shut down.
