I'm a huge advocate for the hydraulic impact drivers. They are so buttery smooth!!! My favorite thing about impact drivers is feeling like I'm in control without any force on my body. The Milwaukee Surge is my daily driver

I finally got to put my surge to the test and it as great! Until I had to drive a lag. It struggled driving a 3/8 x 5" lag through two 2" thick stringers and a 4x4. Looks like I will have to get the Fuel Impact driver for that kind of stuff. Or break out the impact wrench.

1:06 pretty close either way, but we said 3840 RPM simply because that's what it measures at. The Flex is 4,450 IPM

Great test thank you. Too powerful, fast and big for my needs. Really interesting to hear about the effects of using it. If you drive big fasteners I guess it has it uses but as you’ve told us use a drill and save yourself from being deafened and shaken using a monster impact driver.

So for light to medium duty fasteners it comes down to which tool is more comfortable to use (which the dewalt loses) cause they are all about the same

Yeah I agree, and for the DIY’er/ homeowner that isn’t making money off their tools, the speed isn’t as important. Obviously you don’t want your tool taking forever to do a simple task, but a few seconds difference won’t matter if you’re not a professional. Pick one you like, they’re all great, except the overpriced Makita.

@@jjb0894 The older Dewalt impact drivers are really comfortable to use. The DCF787 has been my go to since I got it, but it’s pretty slow compared with the newer models. Metabo HPT has really good ergonomics, and I also like the 4 mode Ridgid.

i would like to make a note that you are using the milwuakee fuel m18 wrong, it is supposed to be with a High output 3ah or 6ah hour battery because it gets 25% more power from it, otherwise using a 5ah attery is just like using a regular milwaukee m18 impact driver

@kingdom.citizen Ohm's law- Volts x Amps= watts. Watts is the measure of actual work being done. Voltage alone doesn't mean much. think the point of this test is to compare Impact Drivers that compete with each other. If you put a meter on the drivers, you'll see that the voltage drops as the battery is drained, and most batteries only have 24v, 20v, or 18v at peak charge. The voltage is more marketing than it is a good measure of power.

I was really exited to buy a gen 4 Milwaukee but then I saw a few videos and a read a bit about some problems they can get and now I’m not sure about it. What would you say about that and have you had any issues, I know torque test channel has bought like 6

The problems people have had with the Gen 4 is because they're using it for things they shouldn't. If you use it properly, then you'll never have an issue

I bought the gen 4 some months ago and then saw the same video you're talking about where TTC said they already had about 5 or 6 break on them and they said they buy tools from several places to make up for possible quality control issues. Made me a bit concerned about my purchase. Assuming the price is right for black Friday we'll see if I buy more into flex (will say their tools are heavy) before the lifetime warranty is gone at the end of 2024 (goes to 5 year like Milwaukee). DeWalt has so many good things and so many issues it's hard to buy into yellow now. My chainsaw came without the bolt and washer that keep the chain from coming off, the XR polesaw replacement I got had the head "re-designed" to some pale inferior metal, and they have known issues with the flexvolt miter saws (which when they're working do great) among other customer service/warranty issues so I'm just bummed to see inconsistencies from them. That being said their HP angle grinder discs, black and gold drill bits, new and old utility knives, and carbide utility blades are awesome.

Alright I’m only 52 seconds in and I’m smelling a rat… I hope I’m wrong but please don’t rig the test against DeWALT. The Flex has the stack lithium battery, Milwaukee is using the red lithium battery but I don’t see a power stack battery on the DeWALT.
