As a disco and house kid i completely overlooked thrash metal back in 80's, discovering this genre almost 40 years later as a nostalgia trip has been a freaking blast. Heard 'Pleasure to kill' for the first time this summer and it genuinely made me happy :-) Anyway one more sub!

Mille said in interviews that the band intentionally recorded the most Brutal intense album that existed on Earth. They wanted to stomp the competition with Brutality, as a marketing angle. Because Metallica was catchy, Sepultura was rough and Evil, and Slayer was controversial. Kreator just remedy upon the strength of speed and intensity at that point in their career. It has gone on to become almost everyone's favorite Kreator album. They probably would have been more popular if they stayed in that vein of Proto Death Thrash, instead of the Megadeth on steroids they morphed into

I always thought of Pleasure to Kill as Proto Death Metal. It was Heavier than anything else, and Cannibal Corpse - Butchered At Birth borrowed heavily from the album

Yeah both those rule as well!! I think I like "Riders Of Doom" a bit better than Raging Steel though. Might do a 3rd tier list which would have some more obscure releases for sure.

Yep I would easily take Darkness Descends over RIB as well, Doty was one of the best frontmen as well, sucked he left. Glad DBC is getting some love now always loved the debut and Universe. Thet Pyracandra is sick got lucky getting it on cassette a few years ago and the Sadus debut is underrated for sure!
