So I recently got into zippos after acquiring my deceased uncles 1950 Niagara Falls zippo. I didn’t know him as well as I would have liked to as he passed when I was quite young, so this zippo means a lot to me. I wanted to find out more about them and came across your Chanel. I’ve been binge watching all of your videos. I feel like in a weird way I almost know you and it’s been a bit of an emotional roller coaster learning about your pup and Tman. Thank you for all of your content and information you provide for us to learn and enjoy. I now have even more appreciation for the zippo my uncle carried with the knowledge I’ve acquired due to your channel. It’s inspired me to pick up my very own first zippo as an ironic gift to myself for getting sober from smoking. Hopefully I can pass it on to my future kid one day and continue the tradition. Hello from Japan 🇯🇵. I often use Coleman GI stoves and Japanese-made Peacock Handy Warmers in the winter, so I mainly use white gasoline for camping stoves in my ZIPPO. In Japan, the fuel for platinum catalyst handy warmers is sold under the name "benzine". This is almost the same as white gasoline, but it is slightly more expensive than white gasoline. Coleman genuine fuel sold in Japan is colored blue, so Peacock Handy Warmer enthusiasts often choose white gasoline from brands other than Coleman to avoid dyeing the cotton. In conclusion, white gasoline can be used normally in major oil lighters such as ZIP PO, Ronson, and IMCO. However, it is more volatile than ZIPPO fluid, so the fuel is consumed more quickly overall. And compared to Ronson and IMCO, ZIPPO has a structure without an inner lid that covers the wick when the lid is closed, so volatile components tend to remain inside the lid, and sometimes it makes a pop when ignited! It makes a noise and the flames can spread to the outside of the chimney😂 The ignition outside the chimney is instantaneous, so it is not particularly dangerous, but it does not generally occur with ZIPPO fluid, so people who see it for the first time may be surprised😱 By the way, ZIPPO fluid is expensive in Japan due to the tradition 😭 since the ABCD encirclement during World War II, so I tried several fuels other than white gasoline. If you use kerosene in a Zippo, the chimney will become black and sooted, which is difficult to scrub off, so I do not recommend it. It is not impossible to use automobile gasoline, but the lingering scent is smelly, and although not as bad as kerosene, the chimney will also become sooted. Today's automobile gasoline, even regular gasoline, has various additives mixed in, so it is not very recommended to use it in equipment designed to use automobile gasoline from WW2. This is because a varnish-like liquid remains when the volatile components are gone. Varnish is notorious for clogging carburetors, but it also oxidizes and corrodes brass and aluminum. Therefore, Peacock Handy Warmer enthusiasts have concluded that camping stove white gasoline is closest to the gasoline used in automobiles during WWII, because it contains no additives.

@@Zippofanatic77outdoorsThank you. There are many novelty Zippos for sale in Japan, including some designed as novelties for Japanese manga, anime, and games. 😋 Until the 2000s, when the smoking population had not yet decreased so dramatically, I sometimes saw novelty Zippos for adult games in the so-called hentai genre. 😅 Also, in the 1960s, oil lighters that copied the Ronson Standard were often manufactured in Japan, and if you come to an antique flea market when you visit Japan, you may have a chance to see them. The Zippos I actually own are a Pipe Zippo made in the 2000s with an insert for pipe smoking, and a 2007 Blue Titanium model manufactured to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the "Peace🕊️🇯🇵" cigarettes, which were first sold in 1946, just after Japan's defeat in the war😍 My grandfather is from the generation that fought as a soldier in the Imperial Japanese Army🎌, so I've heard stories of him smoking "kinshi🥇🦅 (a.k.a. Golden Bat🥇🦇)" cigarettes, which were issued to the military, using Ronsons and Zippos that he acquired as relics from the battlefield. Therefore, the real 1941 Black Crackle is a model I would like to get someday 😌 Around 2005, a 1942 reproduction of the "Lucky Strike🎯" cigarette was sold in Japan, and the act of combining this or the Golden Bat with a 1941 Black Crackle replica became popular among Japanese military otaku 😁 Finally, in Japan, 18-liter cans of white gasoline are sold as "machine cleaning oil," and can be purchased for about the price of seven 12-fl bottles of Zippo fluid. I continue to use machine cleaning oil I bought about 15 years ago as fuel for stoves, warmers, and oil lighters, and I still have about 1/3 of it left 😂

I was trying to make a mix of kerosene and white gas but it never worked. I was hoping to find a ratio where it would be thin enough to be like lighter fluid but thick enough to not evaporate fast like lighter fluid. Hoped the white gas would catch from the spark and the resulting heat from the flame would warm the kerosene enough to vaporize it of at least make it flow smoother from the heat.
