Finally! Someone who names the turbo as well as the exhaust setup! People just assume all single turbos sound the same, but they don't haha

What I've found is what for the HKS/Trust turbos that make 700 - 900 whp are the ones with the butter smooth sound as low to mid RPMs and the big precision turbos (such as the 8285 in Jem034) lead to a much more screamy sound (and if you're a high revving RB30 3.4 stroker you're probably going to spend more time in different notes anyways). Although driving stuff and tune also make a difference I'm sure, and there's also the matter of where you get your turbo manifold from and stuff. I used to be one of those people who didn't fully realize twins sound different from single turbo cars and now after doing some research I'm trying to help people see that as well.

From what I can tell the T04Z with the HKS manifold and some kind of titanium exhaust (ideally HKS) is probably going to be our best bet. Which isn't bad since the T04Z is good for 700 horsepower. I've listened to T04Z cars that can rev like Brian's GT-R and also sound like his car doing pulls.

Single turbo cars with the HKS stroker kits always sound nice. I’m probably going to go down a similar route when I build one (GReddy T78 with HKS 2.8L and 264/272 cams)

The Racing Joker that’s my goal as well brother. But honestly I would make sorts of a roll racing and drag R34 GT-R. Similar setup but I would go Nitto 2.8L with high mount twin turbo setup. Something crazy like. Nitto cams ect ect. Few have done it before. I know those nitto 2.8l kits can withstand 1600hp. But I’m thinking if a range from 1100KW (1400AWHP). I just love the sound of a RB28L.

ISSA OOF The T78 is basically what I would use for a 700 whp fast car made mostly for street drag/roll racing. If I ever decided I wanted to just start beating everybody I’d give Just Engine Management a call and ask for an RB30 stroked to 3.4 with a precision 8285 (good for 1300 whp), but I also plan on removing all of the rear interior and only keeping the essentials in the front (700 whp at 2700-2800 pounds is pretty fast)

The Racing Joker oh JEM RB28 was also another great setup running 9s. I like his new setup which a RB34. I would bang that my 2nd build. Just crazy amount of torque and hp. Going through the gears with that kind of power looks fun. You have a great setup bro 🤘🏽

That's an interesting idea! But when it comes to talking about that topic there are a few different ways to approach it. I could talk about how they converted GTTs to look like GT-Rs, I could talk about what was done to the car according to the story (apparently it was supposedly powered by an R35 GTR engine aka VR38DETT)

You and I are similar in that we prefer the single turbo RB26 sound. It's the 6-1 merge that does it, that really brings out the sound of exhaust pulses happening every 120° of crank rotation. But it looks like the Japanese turbos specifically create that sound that we love. Or maybe that one precision setup on the 1000hp car was a twin scroll. It's getting to the point where to me the twin turbos just sound stupid in comparison. In regards to the Top Speed skyline, I've been to that shop many times when I was younger, I've met the owner, and seen that car in a few shows in the past. There are some OLD videos of some guys in the UAE with single turbo skylines, a gunmetal R32 with an HKS T51 and a sequential gearbox. And a yellow R33. Look up "Top RPM skyline."

RBs sound nicer without turbo swooshes. Heard an N/A RB30 at 7000rom and that thing sounds like a V12. With the turbos they get muffled by the annoying swooshy sounds

I wouldn't even say you can drive it in Florida, the car isn't legal on a Federal level so the state of Florida can't really get around that with any homebrew laws, even if Florida there are plenty of stories about R34s getting confiscated.
