Sadly, I don't think that's a guarantee (well, I mean he can always work, getting paid commensurate with his talent is another thing) . The beauty of Tyrion slapping Joffrey was that Joffrey tended to "forget" that Tyrion was STILL His Uncle even though he was the King. And deep down inside Joffrey knew that Tyrion had a right to slap him around for getting out of pocket like an uncle should be able to. That's why Joffrey only Threatened to do this and That to Tyrion but he never actually followed through with it. Family Shit.

I love almost every Tyrion's moments in season 2 : getting rid of Slynt and Pycelle, threatening Lancel and making him his spy, Opposing Joffrey and Cersei, the battle of the blackwater etc. And he's denied recognition not only by Joffrey, but especially by Tywin who previously named him king's hand, telling him that he is his son (manipulating his feelings just to use him while he was in trouble at war)
