Tony Blair is just as controversial as Margret Thatcher. The main difference is Thatcher's controversies are mostly her domestic policies while Blair's are mostly his foreign policy.

I remember it but don't recall it lasting long. It was the garbage tabloid papers like DM that tried to make it into a big story. A co worker of mine was outraged at the "leftists" and wanted the original anthem to remain as it. I asked him if he could sing it or whether he knew the lyrics. He did not.

Canada wears the poppy on Nov. 11. The people who object still get a lot of derision. There is controversy about putting up outside Christmas decorations before Nov 11, is this lack of respect for the military. Huh? I don’t agree with this idea. But I don’t mention that to my “pro” friends. I just turn off the decorations on Nov 11 to keep them happy. What about my really gaudy Halloween decorations I have just taken down? Oh well, I guess my 8 ft blowup witch is respectful.

Just a slight correction: the British people didn't vote to leave the EU, around 1/3 of them did and that was enough to decide the vote. Always worth remembering that the majority of Brits eligible to take part in the referendum didn't vote to leave the EU.
@timwheeler85232 жыл бұрын
Of course, even fewer people voted to stay, so "always worth remembering that the vast majority of Brits eligible to take part in the referendum did not vote to stay in the EU".
@simonsimon3252 жыл бұрын
@@timwheeler8523 True you can view it either way, but the video didn't claim the British people voted to stay in the EU. Point is if you want things to remain as they are, doing nothing normally results in that outcome, whereas if you want things to change, you have to act. Therefore I believe the apathetics were probably more likely to be happy to remain than to leave... but that's an unknowable thing. Either way it's quite misleading to say the British people voted to leave.
@jamescagney27132 жыл бұрын
And there is the problem. Some voted one way, some voted the other way, and some could not be bothered. The vote was out and if anyone has a problem with it they should direct the complaint to those that did not vote. . Some countries have compulsory voting which I find a strange concept, more so if one lives in a country where the only options are those allowed by the government. Bottom line is it was a fair vote and the remainers lost. I could argue that all the non voters would have voted to leave if it suited some, but they seem to have been too lazy to get away from the gogglebox or were just happy that I would make the correct choice and they could share in my wisdom.. butt, and I do mean butt, the vast majority did not vote to remain either and that was a majority that chose to leave in their trust in people like me rather than trust in Simon Simon

I served in the army and served in every conflict since the Falklands war (Which was before my time), and I refuse to wear a poppy. Not because of what it symbolises but because I refuse to put a penny in the pockets of the British Legion. I fail to see what's wrong with promoting patriotism. Although the very clearly left wing bellend narrating this will disagree because it might upset the millions of people who weren't even born here. We voted to leave the EU because we were pissed off with being told what to do by other nations when WE had won TWO world wars to get the freedom that they then tried to take away.

Im dicusted that people think its ok to celebrate someones death because of their political views. And its funny how much criticism Britain got for a song when america is 10 times worse. And the reason Britain left was because the leaders of the EU were not voted in and rumours were going around about mandatory induction into a eu army. Thats what people I know told me anyway.
