@Robert Biswas Well, my favourite Adrian solo is definitely Stranger in a Strange Land. It's perfectly written and fits incredibly well into the rhythm. It brings me to tears almost every time I hear it. My favourite Dave solo is Judas Be My Guide. Such a powerful and intense tone, with killer bends!!! But I understand why you love Alexander the Great, it's without a doubt one of the greatest masterpieces of heavy metal. I think it's more of an emotional approach I have with those songs I listed than a technical analysis. Powerslave is also a great pick!!! Thanks for watching buddy, stay safe and Up the Irons!!!

Smith grew up in London and became interested in rock music at 15. He soon formed a friendship with future Iron Maiden guitarist Dave Murray, who inspired him to take up the guitar. "He started me off playing; I bought my first guitar off him." "We were both at the same state, but Dave was a bit further down, he'd actually put the time in and learn to play the guitar. And I sort of... he started me off playing. I bought my first guitar off him, I think it was like five quid or something. It was something he had lying around."

I love Dave, he is my favorite of the band. However, after playing in an Iron Maiden tribute band where I had to play all of Adrian’s parts, I would say that Adrian is def the more technical guitar player. It doesn’t necessarily make him better because Dave is a super melodic player, but from a technical standpoint, Adrians stuff is so much harder to play.
@gulthepilot
@gulthepilot 2 жыл бұрын
@@JessieJames0317 imo...his melodic style of play is quite recognizable...the legato parts especially...also there's something in the timing of his bends...its awesome !!!! I remember kinda liking the end of " from here to eternity " till I put my headphones on and REALLY gave the whole song a go in the lockdown...then the 2 powerslave solos blew me away totally and now I've got abt 20 + songs of theirs on my playlist....again primarily due to Murray...Holy smoke - great example of a below par /sloppy Janick solo next to an absolutely eargasmic solo from Dave !!!

I remember the 'outrage' when Somewhere in Time was released. Guitar synths? In a metal band? It was the end of the world for some fans. I was 13, just learning to play guitar, and absoulutely loved that sound...and still do. Smith and Murray provided the sountrack to my youth. In a world of million-note-a-minute 'shredders', I still think they blow the roof off.

The Number of the Beast album is a heavy metal landmark, filled with some of the best harmonies, solos and vocal lines of all time. Rime of the Ancient Mariner was a good pick, but the one from Live After Death's video was fluid and beautiful.

I tried, but that version would have been blocked by KZbin. Damn copyrights.

I love that we got Adrian's solo in Powerslave because it happened to be between two of Dave's. Honourable mentions for Dave should go to the solo over the slow part of Phantom Of The Opera and his solo in 22 Acacia Avenue. I think it's his solo anyway.

Dave had been historically overshadowed by Adrian for both wrong and good reasons. Dave the amazing lead player, sided by Adrian the amazing writer who could kill on solos too. Adrian provides way more, but Dave is awesome at his thing.(for the record: my favorite songs on AMOLAD and TFF are Dave's!)

Very nice list, but I would have to add one. Dave's 22 Acacia Avenue solo is still one of my very all time favorites.

I feel bad for kids today who wouldn't be able to experience the anticipation of a new maiden album coming out back in the 70s and 80s. It was an event to hear what Davey and Adrian came up with. Definitely need more love than they get.

I imagine how it was when Powerslave came out. Can you picture yourself putting the vinyl on a player and hearing Aces High for the first time ever? If something like that happened today I'd probably go crazy as shit.

@@LeandroDelPrete . Dude, i still remember my older sister coming home with Number of the Beast (when it finally showed up at the record store ) and hearing for the first time Hallowed Be Thy Name. I was hooked as a Maiden fan for life from that day on. All their 80s records just ruled. Good memories.

Oh yeah that main riff and the running looow part are just so powerful you can't resist screaming along with Bruce! It was indeed the best of times, buddy. The 80s were the age of rock!

@@LeandroDelPrete . Absolutely dude. I'm glad I was born in the 70s and was hitting my stride in the 80s . It really was a great period in music for people of all tastes. Except Rap lol.

Rap is just irrelevant compared to all the good music we had at that time. Not only Maiden, but also Metallica, Slayer, Rush, Pink Floyd, Exodus, Motorhead and so many other great bands.

Smith is a genius, he creates the best melodies and great songs as each member of Maiden, but man, i prefer Dave Murray solos hands down ! of course it s a team work and this is what makes Maiden solos great first of all ;)
