The one scene that was totally necessary to the story was when Dudley said, "I don't think you are a waste of space", that completed the Harry and Dudley story. It humanized Dudley and the movie completely blew it. This snafu was also noted when the part where Harry's aunt said," I lost a sister", was cut from the movie this scene was also necessary to complete the Dursley's part of the story. In both cases the book far out classed the movie.

No, ron is actually super important. If you read the books you would know that. I’ll explain why. So basically, since both hermione and harry grew up never knowing about the magical world, Ron is the only member of the golden trio who has know all his life. So while hermione has read lots of books about the wizarding world since she first found out she was a witch, Ron knows how the world really works. Like, for example, in the second book, when Malfoy called hermione a mud blood, in the films she already knew what that meant, but in the books Ron knew while both hermione and harry didn’t. He also knows about pure bloods, half-bloods, and muggle born and how some pure blood families see muggle borns as lesser. And so while hermione is book smart, Ron is street smart

Alex: Books and film adaptations based upon books are two different art forms, and there is never going to be satisfaction by readers of books when they see their favorite books turned into films because filmmakers must cut down the story and they must show it visually. The rules of plays and of drama dictate over the novel format and that means changes must be made to create a decent film.

Tonks. Deathly Hallows importance. Rons good qualities (in the films he is kinda just around) Hermiones flaws (characters are better with flaws) Percy Weasleys story (he is a minor character but seeing the weasleys and rons reactions to his decisions, even briefly, would have added some needed dimension to them. they take the time to show him but he never says a word that you'd have to know the books to notice. Family member turned enemy is good drama that would have worked for film drama showing Nevilles Parents. Show don't tell. His parents are really important to him and to knowing how bad Bellatrix is. they set it up in film 4 and then just expositioned it in 5. Show what they became and show Neville with them. One thing I hated about the movie is Voldemort's death. His death in the novel is a nice piece of symbolism since it gives the big villain and wizard lovechild of Hitler and the Bogeyman the worse death he can ask for: a man's death. He didn't dissapear into the ether, he didn't burn into a blaze of glory; he died surrounded by people who realized that for how much of an inhuman apparance, no matter how dreaded he is, in the end, he is still a sad, pathetic, mortal man. While in the movie, they had him dissapear into ashes, ignoring the symbolism if his death on the novel and ruining one of the themes of the series.

@Predated24 жыл бұрын
I actually get both ways of dying tho. On the book side, having his dead body being there, would be similar to many other tales: making an assumed immortal god bleed, with his dead body being proof of that. However, you already can get that from the point where he is actually defeated and there are other slight issues with that version of death. Sure, its symbolic, but just because its symbolic doesnt mean it makes sense with the rest of the information given. On the movie side, we're talking about a person who has split his very own soul 8 times(once unintentionally) and someone who can never go to the afterlife, nor can he become a ghost. Someone who destroyed his own soul so much that he no longer has any option. When someone dies, they can latch on to life and become a ghost while others will embrace death. Voldemort definitely was someone who would have latched on living and would have become a ghost, but he couldnt. His own being was so unstable and disruptive that it literally destroyed him. So even though I agree having a voldemort corpse would be a shock to all death eaters, having him practically vaporize due to his own actions makes a lot more sense. Ghosts would have a body to leave from, people who go on to the afterlife technically have a choice to go back to their old body if they happen to have something allowing them to return or move on into the afterlife, let alone that the ressurection stone requires an existing death to return. Voldemort had neither of those options, so him having still a physical body for the endresult doesnt make too much sense. I mean, what if there was a necromancer who wanted to reanimate Voldemort himself? With a body, a necromancer should be able to. But you also need someone being actually fully dead to be able to ressurect them, and Voldemort isnt dead, he is pretty much erased from existance.

The thing that bothered me most about the movies was that they changed the Hermione at Malfoy Manor scene! In the books she was really brutally tortured with the Cruciatus for a long time, and the whole time in the cellar Ron was losing his mind, screaming her name and unable to get a grip. It showed their relationship really well and gave evidence to Ron’s loyalty and love that the movies really ignored in favor of seeing him as comic relief. The way they did it (with the Mudblood carving into her arm) was definitely intense and I get that the actors were too uncomfortable to film much more of the scene (as well as the fact that they said it was a little too scary for the PG-13 rating) but I feel like they still could have adjusted it so that it was more accurate. Also with the fight in the 5th book - they don’t talk about how it made Umbridge steal Harry, Fred and George’s brooms and give Harry a “lifetime ban” on Quidditch. It annoyed me that they didn’t put this one in when it made it clear that Umbridge took power over the whole school and every teacher’s wishes, and gave this desperation to Harry that made him not question the false vision of Sirius in the ministry (because it proved he had lost everything and showed how all of the terrible stuff that had happened that year was taking the last bits of hope and happiness from him).

1. They so ruined Ginny in the movies They made her look shy, awkward, weird In the books she was so strong, bold, amazing, confident, and a determined person and they didn't even showed that in the films 2.They also ruined HarryXGinny in the films. I think the movie producers,directors, and writers more liked Harry and Hermione so thats what also made fans hate the idea of Hinny 3. I just think that most HP fans know the movie instead of the book like my Potterhead friends they have never read the books (Even though im just a beginner and only 11 yrs old i can say i more like the books) (When ever i also watch a movie it felt boring and not much putted into it not like the books that has every nook and cranny of information) But i am not saying that i hate the films i just more like the boos

Personally the films made Ginny Weasley look so cringe, and begging for Harry’s attention. Whereas in the books she was totally opposite. She was fierce and confident. Also the films missed out so many things, soooo many. There was such a deep story to be told in the books and the film is just BLAH.

Its seems like they left out a ton of growth for other characters to focus more on Harry. Its been a while since ive read the books so i dont remember a whole lot. But Ginny was heavily under used in the movies and in HBP she was pretty much screwed right over. Was her time to shine and they just shoved her to the side to show more of Harry becoming a wizard. Which they did a lot in the films, focused to much on one side of Harrys story

It was a really stupid move by Chris Columbus from the start... he should have just made it so people take on the voice of those they change into. The later films could have retconned that scene by saying they didn't get the potion quite right being 2nd year students, so they didn't get Crabbe and Goyle's voices, only their appearances.

@@nahor88 I read somewhere that it was a way in which the audience was able to tell which character was which (at least for DH) cause yeah CoS really did force them to change their voices and everything. The third book is my favorite, so I'm most upset that the movie left out the fact that James and his friends wrote the Marauders Map. The movie had several opportunities to offer that key piece of info, especially when Lupin toward the end says the map never lies. The movie gives no explanation for why he would know the map never lies. And then because that movie leaves out details, the fifth movie has to compensate by having Harry call Sirius Padfoot to set up a line later when Harry gives Snape a clue about Sirius being in trouble without letting Umbridge know what he's talking about. It's just a big mess and all could have been avoided by a simple explanation. But no, they had to take up 20 seconds of screen time with a bird flying over the grounds before getting killed by the Whomping Willow.

@@kevinuribe318 it's basically the same except the very last part. Voldemort and Harry don't magic duel like in the movie, once he revealed himself and everyone else was subdued, and his horcrouxes were destroyed (Neville destroyed the snake right when he pulled the sword in the book, not right at the end), Harry basically just explained why he survived and what Voldemort did wrong, why he lost. Voldemort got pissed and tried to use the killing curse again, but just like Harry said it would, it rebounded again and killed Voldemort, this time with no backup plans on hand. He dies just like a normal person, because in the end that's what he was. Just a very powerful person. He wasn't special. Not a god like he wanted to believe. Just a man. I understand what the movies were doing, and I actually really like alot of it. I like that Neville killed the snake to save Ron and Hermoine instead of right away, giving him that moment was very warranted. They cut some of his scenes away, and they never really mention in the movies that the prophecy actually involved him as well, as he could have been the child being talked about in it. So giving him that was definitely worth it to me. Honestly the only thing I would have wanted them to keep was that very last part of Voldemort dying the way he did. It solidified the entire point of the battle, that Voldemort wasn't as immortal and godly as he thought, that he was just a man, and fallible. But I forgave the movie because I got what they were trying to do by having him fade away after the last horcroux was destroyed, that was their way of visually showing his lack of "importance" in that once his contingencies were gone, he just went away. No extra needed. I was OK with that

Difference 1: Ron and Hermione's relationship in the book is healthy and loving progressing from admiration and friendship to love organically, with growth for both Characters. This is one of the main flaws of the movies for me, too. They have so many endearing moments, so many real abilities and flaws that complement each other, so much fun together in the books, almost none of which is shown in the films. For some reason, I also very much resent the fact that Hermione is the one who has the idea about using the dragon to escape from Gringotts. In the books, it's Harry - he's the one who does most of the quick thinking in the trio, not Hermione.

3 things (that aren’t that big but I am just a *little* nit picky about) that the movies changed. #1 Tonks and Lupins’s love story. In the book when Harry arrives at the burrow Tonks is there and that’s when he first sees her depressed. Her hair is brown and she seems really sad. Later in the day Harry asks Ginny, Hermione, and Ron why. The say that ever sense The Battle of the Department of Mysteries she’s been like that, and has even had trouble with her ability (to change her appearance at will). Then when Harry gets to Hogwarts his nose is broken by Malfoy. Then in the books Tonks comes in the train and finds him. She fixes his nose and then casts her patronus in the sky. (Which at this time is a Wolf). After Harry gets to the Hogwarts grounds Snape tells Tonks “I am quite interested to see your new patronus. I like the old one better, this one looks weak.” This is where you learn her patronus changed. Fast forward to Christmas. Harry is at the burrow and talks to Lupin about morphing patronuses. He says that a patronus shape can change due to shock and/or strong emotion. This leads Harry to think that Tonks had been in love with Sirius and was devastated by his death. He tells Ron and Hermione when they get back to school and they tell him that that is absurd. After The Battle of the Astronomy Tower everyone is in the hospital wing. It is here you learn that Bill has been attacked by Greyback. Fleur still says that she wants to marry Bill even though he has been bitten. Tonks then says this to Lupin, “You see! She still wants to marry him, even though he has been bitten! She doesn’t care!” Lupin replies by telling her that he is too old for her, too poor, and too dangerous. Everyone then starts arguing with Remus about how he is being ridiculous. But in Deathly Hallows we learn that someone (whom I believe to be Mrs. Weasley) has convinced him and we learned that they are married. #2 Agragog’s burial Harry and Slughorn go to Hagrid’s hut to attend his giant spider’s burial. There, Slughorn is sympathetic. He acts like he is mourning Aragog’s death, when really he is collecting venom. After that he pretends to still mourn. Then they go inside and drink. Harry eventually gets the memories buy telling him about Lily Which then gets him to cry and (reluctantly) give Harry the memories. #3 How to get passed the Womping Willow Harry, Ron, and Hermione are coming back after visiting Hagrid before Buckbeak’s execution. They are all under the invisibility cloak and are heading back when Scabbers bits Ron’s finger and tries to escape. He runs by the Womping Willow and Ron, Harry, and Hermione run after him. There they see Sirius in his Animangus form and he drags Ron into the tree. Harry and Hermione are so panicked and confused that they forget the Are by the Womping Willow. They get hit multiple times until Crookshanks presses a knot on the tree, which then freezes it. I am so crazy.

I've always missed the part when Harry repairs his broken wand with the Elder Wand, and then leaving it in Dumbledore's grave.
@Bryan1980269 ай бұрын
I figure he could have fixed his old wand and only then snapped the Elder Wand. That would have closed so many potential plot holes given Harry's choice of career. After all, if you go by the books and you consider the piece of utter garbage that is the Cursed Child to be part of the cannon, then Voldemort's "daughter" is now the master of the Elder Wand.

@@hyperion8431 I still think ravenclaws symbol should be a raven. What they did to our (Ravenclaw's) crest is terrible! It's impossible to find any accurate merchandise, and since so many people have only seen the movies they get it all wrong! It annoys me very much, so thank you for mentioning it in this video and doing it justice! It's a matter of ignorance that the filmmakers didn't look into J.K. Rowling's reasoning.

My only issue with “The Prince’s Tale” in the final movie is that it implies that Snape was in Godric’s Hollow first on that faithful Halloween night when we know it’s Hagrid who rescued Harry from there... just made things super confusing.

I think snape rushed to see lily's body before hagrid got there (apparition vs a motorbike, he could easily get there before him, I think), and disapparated, leaving harry, since he knew someone would get there via dumbledore's orders (and most people wouldn't take too kindly to him at that point)

I am glad we didn’t have the whole SPEW sub plot. It made no sense, it was confusing and completely irrelevant.
@AurinneA5 жыл бұрын
I could live with them leaving out S.P.E.W. initially (because I understood the time constraints), but two of my FAVOURITE parts about the end of the 7th book are when Ron's the one who remembers about the Hogwarts house elves - to evacuate, not to fight (which leads to The Kiss) - and when all the house elves launch themselves into the battle. Neither of which appeared, and greatly diminished my enjoyment. And it really added so much depth and complexity about the whole wizarding world - how wizards treated other species and therefore why the goblins didn't like wizards, why Umbridge loves the Voldemort era and oppressing the non-humans etc. etc. So in the end, yes, I agree that it's a big disappointment that the ongoing house elves subplot was absent.

I hated how in "Deathly Hollows 2- the movie" - Neville never got credit for finding out that Nagini was a horcrux, in the movies basically everyone knows after Harry told them ???? and its just messed up, cause Neville could have been the chosen one as well and it was a very important piece of information, that he found out Nagini was a horcrux and that he killed her. And not in the batttle but around Voldemort´s neck.

3:45 What you are saying here, that it was genious to give Neville the role of providing Harry the Gillyweed, is indeed true. However, this wasn't all made up by the people who wrote the movie-scripts. Moody told Harry in the book he had given that book about waterplants to Neville so that he could inform Harry about the Gillyweed. But Harry wanted to do it alone so bad that he didn't even ask Neville. It was a great way to cut Dobby out of the film, but it still followed the book to a certain point.

I love your Harry Potter videos I've been binge watching them i cant stop help!!! So the for me the most important things that were not in the movies are: - the marauder's story - Harry giving the money from the Triwizard Tournament price to Fred and George to set up their shop - voldemort's memories in hp6 - the grindelwald thing you mentioned!!! (actually I did not remember that was different from the book. ITS SO IMPORTANT OMG) - the final conversation between Harry and Voldemort, Voldemort's actual death - Harry fixing his old wand with the elder wand at the end - Ron's character - also Ginny's character and the romance between her and Harry.

8:14 “snape was one of the teachers protecting the stone” This is actually true in the movie, this is because Snape went after Quirrell and the 3rd floor to ensure that the stone wasn’t taken when he burst into the great hall saying that the troll left the dungeon, he may have not protected the stone like the other professors (mcgonangol, flitwick, sprout and dumbledore) but he still did.
