Technically Sirius actually had Crookshanks buy the Firebolt for Harry because he couldn't be seen at the Owl Office placing the order, though Crookshanks bought it with Sirius' money in Harry's name. The movie completely fails to portray how ridiculously smart that cat actually was in the books.

Crookshanks wasn’t even a regular cat. I can’t recall the name, but essentially the species that Crookshanks owed part of his lineage to were essentially a species of feline familiars, possessing vastly higher intellects. Aging up the Marauders, Lily, and Snape actually annoys me. Part of the tragedy is how young Lily and James were when they died. They had barely left school or had time to start their lives, and yet they were prepared to die fighting. I've always felt this is part of the reason why Harry accepted the need to fight so young, because that is what his parents did. Snape's character also makes so much more sense if he is 30, rather than nearing 50. Snape's life basically freezes or ends when Lily dies. When Lily died he was only out of school for about two years. That is mostly why he is still so angry at his high school bullies, and still so deeply in love with his childhood best friend. That is why he was stupid enough go to Voldemort to save Lily and why he was immature enough to not care if James lived or died. Snape was still a kid when he was a death eater.

Still hate how the screenwriter gave Hermione Ron’s line of “if you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us, too.” It was one of Ron’s amazing brave moment. It was the moment where he showed how much he cared about Harry that he was even willing to _die_ with him. Right there, he bravely stood up to Sirius, who he thought was a freaking murderer. And declaring that, if he (Sirius) is going to kill Harry, then he should kill him, too. And he did that ON A BROKEN LEG. but of course, the screenwriter just _had_ to give his moment to Hermione. Just like he did with plenty of other Ron moments. Is giving Ron his own lines and moments a torture or something?

The way the movies portrayed Harry and Ron’s friendship made people misunderstand their relationship. Harry and Ron were CLOSE, like inseparable. This may just be my hot take here, but I actually really like Lupin’s werewolf form in the movie. The scrawniness, hunched back, and crackling bones (while he’s transforming) makes it seem like an ungodly affliction. Something that you wouldn’t even wish on your worst enemy. (Edit): Also, the wolfsbane potion didn’t completely stop Lupin from turning into a wolf. It just allowed him to “keep his mind” while he was one. “I was a very small boy when I received the bite. My parents tried everything, but in those days there was no cure. The Potion that Professor Snape has been making for me is a very recent discovery. It makes me safe, you see. As long as I take it in the week preceding the full moon, I keep my mind when I transform... I am able to curl up in my office, a harmless wolf, and wait for the moon to wane again. Before the Wolfsbane Potion was discovered, however, I became a fully fledged monster once a month. It seemed impossible that I would be able to come to Hogwarts. Other parents weren't likely to want their children exposed to me.”

The bond of the Marauders and how that plays as a character motivation for Harry is one of the most important parts of the series and it really saddens me that they cut nearly all of that background information in POA. Harry's "Prongs" line is so emotional and not only is it not in the movie, but it wouldn't make sense if it was there. I still see POA as the best movie though, I think Alfonso was the best director of the 4 and he did a great job adapting the book to a movie. You didn't mention about cedric refuses the win because of Harry's accident. That is the 1st time we knew about cedric and his character.

Two of my favourite moments from this movie: 12:30 Malfoy saying "It's killed me! It's killed me!" and 13:50 Malfoy saying "This class is Ridiculous" and Crabbe nodding 😂😂

Great work as usual. I’ve read the books several times over, most recently in audiobook format, so I know all about the various differences between the 2 mediums. Still enjoy watching these for how they’re presented tho. Yet saying that the fact that Lupin’s werewolf form is more like that of a regular wolf in the book has always escaped me for some reason. Probably ‘cause I have a habit of picturing the characters as they appear in the films ever since watching those. Interesting choice by the filmmakers given what JK was obviously going for.

I think the actors being older works because all three characters are super stressed and prematurely aged. Harry even says that Lupin and greying hair. Being left in Azkaban I think that Sirius would also look stressed out and much older than he really was.

I’ve been re-reading the series as well and not gonna lie, the part where Harry said “Prongs” regarding the patron ya nearly brought tears to my eyes.
