If you do this again you should start by rating some common houseplants so we have some reference. Like is it more or less tolerant to overwatering than snake plant? Etc

As a bit of an old school house plant owner I'd like to remind some people variegated syngonium has been around for quite a while. The price is just been jacked up because of the house plant trend. Eventually it'll show up at Lowe's for $5. That's where I got mine about 15 years ago

Unfortunately it's not in Australia (unless it's been imported illegally) 😭 The closest we can get to it is a Philodendron Verrucosum

I have a philodendron Majestic coming in the mail. It has the lovely red underside and reminds me of El Choco Red. It is Verrucosum x sodiroi. I am in Australia.

Everyone talks about their high humidity closer to the coast and it honestly hurts my feelings :'( That being said, all of my plants seem to be doing just fine in the 35-45% my house tends to hover around.

😍 this is pretty spot on! Though I had a melano cutting that I think was on the back foot to begin with and never really survived, so keen to try it again with a bigger specimen! I got a veitchii shipped in winter from Asia too, and it came in near perfect condition. Gloriosum for me is what started my aroid love, yes it depends on the individual plant you get and how strong they are to begin with but most acclimatise quite easily to your home environment and push out healthy growth. Syngonium variegated is amazing! Literally before another leaf has unfurled it’s already working on a new one, plus the anticipation of waiting for what pattern of variegation you’ll get next is thrilling 🥰

Ironically, I’ve got ALMOST every plant in this list and several that are considered to be very difficult... but my melanochrysum is my toughest to grow. It’s growing quite quickly, but they’re not maturing (even at a length of over a meter.) leaves are coming in a bit deformed from time to time, despite high humidity (80%), and I just had a leaf yellow and fall yesterday.

Don’t listen! Glorioso is not easy it’s the first rare plant I got and I am constantly having to cut off all of its roots and start over again because of overwatering it does not tolerate overwatering at all! Grows super slow! I live in Florida

SOS! I'm @fallen_leafs on IG and purchased a monstera deliciosa sadly has very tiny internodal spacing. The seller soaking a paper towel, bottom, and all was a zip lock back covering the entire root and taped it terribly, damaging a leaf. She does have some God roots and aerial roots....the bottom was sealed and I was like whyyyyy bc she's 3 states away from me. I took your advice and took photos:) I wish I could get your advice. I am leaving it alone for 1 week

I have the levoid humidity and the thermopro TP55 and they give me different humidity reading even though they are in same proximity. I am talking about 25% difference.i.e. humidifier would say 80% while thermopro only 55%. I would not mind 2-3% difference between the two but 25% is too much. Anyone had same issue?

the veitchii really are that easy!!! mine shipped in the cold with no heat pack and came perfectly. It's not livin with the best humidity but it's still killin it. TRULY a king

Pretty spot on except for the melano for me. I killed 2 melanos of small and medium sized... leaves turned oranged and burned at the edges.. Changed mixes, increased watering and literally nothing could save it :( same thing happened to my friend she killed 2 as well

I was surprised about the Melano. This thing _HATES_ me. I can manage a Queen easily, but that thing? No. Way. It grows fast as a dart but the leaves stay SO, so small. They keep on getting smaller, all my other plants besides it are doing just fine. It's a pain.

I have had melanochysum for a year. It came as a potted plant from a private collection, the mother plant is growing on a tree in Antigua, Guatemala. The leaves were not perfect and I looked forward to getting new leaves. It has been a year and the plant is the same as when I got it. So I agree that it's tough, but for me I just don't get leaves. (so you know my growing conditions, I live in Guatemala City which has a tropical savanna environment, humidity around 65 but I also own a humidifier to bring it up to 75, It gets indirect light, air circulation, it's potted in a terracotta pot with a coco fiber pole). I really want growth :(
