It's great to see a simple straight to the point video from a regular guy not trying to be gimmicky.

It doesn't matter what kind of advice I need, or what type of plant I am hoping to find... I can ALWAYS come to your channel to find it. This is exactly what I needed. Bonfire all the way! Thanks Jim!

East side of my garage neighbors home about 15 ft away 2 story. Sun about 3-5 hours a day. Have a lily and large hydrangea that grow fine there. What azaleas would you recommend for that type of environment? Debating on doing bobo hydrangea as well. Bed is maybe 3-4 ft wide and 25ft long.

One of my 2 Autumn Lilies planted in zone 6b in early June have just started to bloom. I was nervous there for a bit because these are my first azaleas and I saw no blooms but now I'm seeing progress. I did add some hollytone and maybe that helped. Great video.

Holly-Tone was a good call. Good luck with them. Thanks for watching.

So...in a world where there is no rain, and you're in 7b, and you have 1 year old azaleas, and you get sun from 2:30-5 (ouch), and it's an average sunny July, and you have pop up direct irrigation...how long would Jim Putnam set the irrigation to run and how often ? :) can you humor me and advise?

Hey Jim, I am prepping a flower bed for fall. It is 5ft wide and 30 ft long. I purchased 3ft Encore Bonfires and 4ft Autumn Lily. I was going to plant reds in front - whites in back, alternating colors. Do you think spacing will be an issue,? Should I have purchased the Autumn Angel? They are the same size-same spacing? Thank you in advance. I Love your channel!!!!⚘🌻

When is the best time to plant these or any other plants, Spring and Fall? Is it okay to plant them when it's very hot but to make sure to increase watering? I live in Houston so the temperature is high. Thanks for the help and videos.

I am in NE Alabama, zone 7b. I think I have planted my encore Azaleas too close (4-7') to our air unit. The plants are all turning brown and have lost most of their foliage. I watered them 2x weekly during Spring and 3x weekly during Summer. They are mounded with soil conditioner at the bottom of each hole. There is still some pliability of the stems, but about 1/3 of the stems crack. If I dig them up now, is there any hope for the plants, or should I cut my losses? I am thankful for your technical videos. Keep them coming

Love azaleas! Seems too hot here for them though (9b). Probably too alkaline also. I just haven’t had good luck w/them. Not even w/afternoon shade & acidic soil amendments ☹️. It’s a bummer cuz they’re one of my fave shrubs for a perennial bed/border. You’ve got great taste in flowering shrubs! Thanks for another enjoyable video!

Hi Jim, wish i came across your video before i bought my Encore Autumn Amethyst. Ut was in bloom when i bought it, and planted in a half size barrel that gets 5 to 6 hours of sun. Past 2 weeks we got very cool temps for Spring here in NY area...lowest 42 degrees. since then all blooms have gone and do not even seen new buds...gave a coat of top peat moss for an acidic soil. how often should i water in that size of barrel, thanks.
@JimPutnam5 жыл бұрын
You probably won't need to water it very often to begin with, but more over the course of the summer. It will put on a new flush of growth and then reset flower buds. Good luck with it.

Hi Jim, I am enjoying and learning so much, THANKS, and you are talking about selling those flowers, which are patented. Do you just resell ? or propagate your own Azaleas, for sale? Thanks
@JimPutnam6 жыл бұрын
I just resell now. I always propagated my own non-patented Azaleas when I had my wholesale nursery.

Hi Jim! So I have bonfires and fires that aren't blooming in the summer yet(im in wake forest). They bloomed very nice in the spring but nothing yet in the summer. Any ideas what might be happening? They get at least 4+ of sun and they are all healthy and putting on foliage growth etc. I just planted them in the ground this spring for the bonfires and last fall for the fires. Maybe they aren't established enough yet or something?

Encore bore me. They have the same amount of buds as a traditional azalea, they just bloom out in stages. I'll take a short lived, full on, mass planted, jaw dropping, 'traditional' azalea over an encore, any day.
