I don't know if I agree, but I want him to. Just imagine, Cap is the epitome of good in humanity. Knowing that he has absolutely no chance against a god, he still lays down his life, leaves the world he doesn't even belong in, so that Tony and the others might have a single moment to escape at the very end of the film. Now Thanos has the gauntlet, their leader and friend is dead, and the world is in danger. Cap gives his life not only for Tony, a guy that refused to acknowledge his gesture at the end of Civil War, a man still blinded by his ego and pride, but Cap also dies so that the galaxy could have one inkling of hope left. His death could mirror Coulson's as the rallying figure in the 2nd film. This is what I want... Cap is my favorite character, but keep him dead...

The not so Smooth criminal yea dc doesn't produce amazing movies anymore... the new sups movie and bats vs sups were both terrible, no true background for batman, skipping what was most likely the killing joke(im really upset about that part). now dc comics as of late are Amazing. like holy shit dc rebirth is dope af, while anad marvel(or whatever they are calling it atm) is trash but the movies are good, for the most part anyway. ill give dc the gaming section too cuz injustice 2 looks pretty good. so from a marvel fan dc is winning with a 2-1 lead.

New possible origin of Thanos in the MCU films He's from Earth during WWII Sent to another world via the tesseract. Conquering that world he lived on naturally seemingly immortal due to him no longer being human as he told his adversary on earth. This apparently makes his skin changes colour as he ages or is this a crude attempt to blend with the first race he conquered. He seem to have personal issue with Earth in their first invasion. He's own minion states that Thanos has assured that earth is no threat at all like from personal experience. This Christmas thing mention in the video would support this more even though he might not believe in it when living on Earth. Some experience to share with he's adopted children. :)

Thanos isn't a character who gains anything from high-concept streamlining. Thanos is complicated. On paper it's easy to dismiss him based on the fact that he was specifically designed to ape the look of Kirby's Darkseid. He's another giant cosmic demigod with a gravel face who wants to conquer the universe. Except . . . he's not, not really. Similarities stop at the superficial level. I will posit - and this is not an uncontroversial assertion, I recognize - that Thanos is a far more interesting "character" than Darkseid. By which I mean, Darkseid really isn't much of a character. When he created the New Gods Kirby was working on a level of elevated and stylized iconography: Darkseid was his name, he was the "dark side," the forces of war and ignorance and fascism incarnated in the body of a shrewd, calculating, and even occasionally droll tyrant. He's a fantastic villain, but not a particularly deep character. I don't believe he was really meant to be. Thanos, on the other hand, is a far more ambiguous symbol. If Darkseid stands in as a metaphor for a locus of multiple dangerous and terrifying grand historical concepts, Thanos embodies something far more intimate. Thanos is a surly adolescent, forever constrained by the limitations of his Oedipal obsessions, fixated on the concept of death and defined therefore by a strange mixture of curiosity and lust. Darkseid is a fantastic villain precisely because he is so resolutely petty - he rules an entire world with ironclad discipline, embodying everything fearful in political and ideological repression. Other people matter to him on a profound level because domination matters as a goal for Darkseid in and of itself. Conversely, Thanos could not care less about domination, although he is often styled as a "conqueror." He has shown little interest in ruling the universe. He is not a tyrant, he is - or at least, he envisions himself to be, a capital-R Romantic in the vein of a Shelley or a Keats. Even when he wielded the Infinity Gauntlet and was, for all intents and purposes, the literal ruler of the universe, he didn't give one iota's thought to ruling or dominating the untold trillions of lives under his control. Rather, he was concerned with his own private passions, a slave to his emotions, unable to transcend the limitations of his self-obsession. He cared about being able to assert his own will with impunity, to live without restrictions, and to gain recognition from the object of his erotic fixation. Jim Starlin's run on Warlock in the mid-70s are some of my all-time favorite comics. I've bought those stories a few times over the years, most recently in a handsome Marvel Masterworks hardcover. I know them by heart. And I love Thanos for the way he intrudes himself into Adam Warlock's story. Warlock, facing his evil twin, is placed in a hopeless situation, with the knowledge that his eventual turn to evil is completely inevitable, and that there is no way he can possibly defeat his older, wiser, and far more powerful doppelgänger. Thanos inserts himself into the story to disrupt the Magus' plans, not from any benevolent impulse, but out of a practical desire to stymie the Magus - he would prefer not to live in a universe ruled by the Magus, as simple as that. He is the consummate egoist. Literally nothing that exists outside his own life is legitimate or even legible to him. He is obsessed with death because death is the sensation of transcendent absence. If Darkseid is Foucault - motivated by domination and carceral reasoning, surrounded by literal Sadists in a world where every act of violence has been sexualized and ritualized - Thanos is Derrida, transfixed by unseen and unrevealed lacunae, motivated by a curiosity to see between and to dismantle the binaries of life and death and discover that which lies hidden between. Nothing is real to him except for himself and his own negation - death - so is it any wonder that his motivations themselves are shrouded in shades of grey? That's the only conceptual realm in which he can reside, even as he sets out to create a universe in which his inescapable solipsism is the only law, and his spirit will become indistinguishable from the spirit of death. These are the kinds of ideas which can really only exist in the fragile pages of an almost-canceled comic book starring a completely obscure character. If Marvel had known just how much money they were going to (eventually) make off Adam Warlock and Thanos, there's no way that they would have let Starlin write such densely weird stories with the characters. But then, if Starlin hadn't been given more or less free reign to produce his stories, no one would care, and Thanos - if there had been a Thanos at all - would have been yet another cosmic potentate, a Kanjar Ro, a Mongul. This is comics' paradox in the era of big money: at the heart of every successful character there lies a unique and idiosyncratic vision (sometimes multiple visions), and these visions must be effaced if the characters are to achieve their potential as lucrative entertainment properties - even if it is inescapable that these idiosyncratic visions will always remain the source of the characters' appeal. Spider-Man had already been so thoroughly pasteurized by generations of talented creators that he was an apotheosis of his own iconic potential long before he set foot on movie screens. Same with Batman, and Superman as well. Thanos, however, is a far more fragile proposition. There is a reason why every attempt at using Thanos by anyone besides Starlin has always seemed slightly off. Thanos is the product of the distinctive worldview of a highly idiosyncratic creator. You can try to synthesize what makes him unique by listing Starlin's own ingredients - a little bit of the 60s counterculture, replete with a dash of Eastern mysticism and New Age Carlos Castaneda-isms; a strict Catholic upbringing seasoned by sexual conflict and morbid fascinations; the heavy influence of military service in Vietnam and subsequent disillusionment. Kirby served in World War II so it should come as no surprise that his cosmology was essentially Manichean: he didn't glamorize war, but he presented a world where the inevitability of war was the greatest tragedy, and one in which the unbending strength of evil remains the greatest threat. Starlin fought in Vietnam, and therefore his signature villain is a nihilist, someone who will go far to avoid a fight he judges to be unproductive, but who will turn and fight to the death for no reason greater than his own personal edification and self-regard. (There's a great bit in the otherwise forgettable "Blood and Thunder" crossover where Thanos goes to Asgard and ends up in a fight with Odin not because he needs to fight Odin - rather, he needs Odin's help - but because he wants to prove he can kick Odin's ass.)

Black bolt can destroy entire mountains with his voice, this would take a mediocre 350 decibels... Gravity wells produce around 800 DB, to create a black hole with sound you'd need a whopping 1,100 DB. In a comic series in the 90s, black bolt shattered thanos and all of attilan by screaming, thanos can withstand pressures up to 400,000 Newton's, or 90,000 pounds per square inch, 100 DB equals a mass of 40psi. So that means black bolt had to scream at around 450,000 DB, which is over 440 times 1,100. So technically it takes the total mass of 440 supermassive black holes to kill thanos... On top of that, he still lived...

Honestly, this isn't a bad presentation. The cartoons are fun but shallow versions of what has been honed in Comics over the years, since Thanos was created by Artist/Writer Jim Starlin, first appearing in Iron Man #55. Yeah, I think that's correct. -Anyway, Thanos is known as 'The Mad Titan' for a reason. Although incredibly intelligent, cunning and powerful, one might even compare him to The Joker, believe it or not, for as situations arise, Thanos's goals tend to, as well, bent toward the daring or depraved. Since declaring his love for the Entity Death, Thanos has been continually torn between ruling all life or destroying it ...that is, when screwing with other cosmic entities or mysteries just simply to see what he can get away with. In other words, he is often an engine of Chaos on a cosmic scale. -the problem with the Infinity Gauntlet is, not unlike that ice-cream kid with the Cosmic Cube, or as any given person who has Green Lantern's ring, what can be done with it is limited by one's intelligence and gamut of concepts. Never fully understanding how powerful the Infinity Gems are individually, let alone combined is problematic. The primary confusion for one with the Gauntlet is this. If you can literally do anything, it's boring, inevitably, and being so powerful, the average owner of the gems still has a tendency to let life's most basic events rule their day. The fully gemmed Infinity Gauntlet, in theory, could end the entire universe, period. As in this universe, what that might give rise to is anybody's guess...

I've not followed any of the comics but with alternative universes, time travel, powers so insane it looks like Marvel has barely scratched the surface considering all these storyline variations. When I die I want to be put into cryogenic stasis for 500 yrs and brought back to keep watching the Marvel films. 500 years is a long time. I wonder if DC will have a good movie out by 2518.

haha, thanos got arrested by regular cops (with some help) and he has a subconcious desire to lose? well, he must be extremly pleased about THAT. and also, being kicked in the crotch by any normal human hurts, being kicked there by she-hulk.....too agonizing to even think about...*shudders*

I liked the way Thanos looked in your thumbnail pic (Gotg) than his Homer Simpson version in infinity war......🤔

Though Thanos came later than Darkseid, he is better built than Darkseid, Darkseid is a cool and powerful villian spamming eyebeam, rapes the Justice League but Thanos is something more humane, born as an alien mutants, being judged by his friends, followed Death and willing to kill anyone she ordered...Seriously, Darkseid can be more badass than Thanos but being powerful does not define the character !

''his power surpasses that off the hulk'' Hulk is the most powerfull character (physical strenght) in the universe, since its unlimited depending on his rage. Incorrect fact..

Which Marvel comic/story is the one where the comic cover shows Iron Man's helmet and Captain America's shield (I think it was broken) and like, eight villain legs and feet standing over them. I think it was a major crossover event, but I can't remember what it was called. Anyone know what it is?

If Thanos thinks he's unworthy of ruling the universe, is he technically an anti-villain?

I'm just waiting for Hulk to bitchslap him into orbit after he's defeated. Y'know, because Hulk always gets the final blow on the main villain.

curious if the MCU will merge Hella and deaths characters... Hella does currently have a manipulative relationship with Thanos in the comics, I would really like to see Hella and Thanos on the same stage at some point, also it would mean Hella would be a villian with legitamate character development and feel like a villian with significant importance, something the MCU lacks in all the solo films... like will any other MCU villians return, totally gonna see the mandarin again, or abomination, or cross bones, or red skull, or the vulture, or ronan, or the dark elves... the only villians to stick are Loki and Hydra/Winter soldier, whom of which are not all that powerful alone and end up being anti heros in most cases. would love to see a Carnage show up multiple times to wreck it up, doctor doom or Galactus or thanos
