I think the writers first came up with the idea of the Maggie and Jackson pairing as a way to create tension between Catherine and Richard. They were married, so her son and his daughter dating made it awkward and caused some strife when Richard felt Catherine didn't think Maggie was good enough for Jackson, when she was really just worried about how their relationship could impact her marriage with Richard, which made sense. The entire Maggie/Jackson thing should have ended after a few episodes, with them realizing they were better off as friends and acknowledging their being together was uncomfortable for their parents.

I've always felt like the show forced too many relationships. I wonder if this is because at the beginning, there was a great balance of exciting medical drama with steamy new relationships that all had great chemistry (Meredith/Derek, Izzie/Alex, and Christina/Burke) and that's what drew in a lot of the fans. It's not exciting enough to have our main characters in healthy and stable relationships, but they still want relationships for the sexy element, so I feel like the show runners frequently put the cast names in a hat, draw out two, and, say, "Let's see if that works."

Back when she was on the show, a friend of mine referred to her as a 'cardboard cutout placeholder' meaning she was just there to give Alex someone to be with until the writers could find an actually interesting love interest for him. I never cared for her character at all.

The Arizona/Leah relationship was one of the times I hated Arizona, because the writers having her get involved with Leah after she cheated on Callie with some random doctor but still wanted Callie back...it wasn't a good turn for my girl Arizona. Cristina and Shane didn't bother me. I think she needed casual relationships more than serious because her true love is her career and I loved that about her. I liked Stephanie's character and I think she would have made a great romantic interest for someone other than Jackson. Olivia was done dirty all around. I adore Callie but she jumps headfirst into relationships, like with George and Penny. Maggie and Jackson were the worst. Their relationship was so forced. The writers missed a chance at Maggie and Jackson having a great stepbrother and stepsister only relationship - they had both grown up as only children so watching Jackson become an overprotective big brother would have been fun. Izzy and George were rebounding; he married Callie while struggling with the death of his father and he hooked up with Izzy for the same reason (he was still in a bad place emotionally) and I think Izzy was desperate to feel something for someone after losing Denny. And I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but despite their relationship being so short, I always thought Denny was the true love of Izzy's life, which is why I still can't accept that Alex left Jo to go back to her, because for all of Alex's past mistakes, telling Izzy to leave because he deserved better was a defining moment for his character. It showed he had grown so much and finally saw his own self-worth. And having April and Matthew get married after she had left him at the alter was the lamest thing ever - it was lazy writing and insulting to fans, who were supposed to believe that Matthew could get past that humiliation and take April back, like just mere months after his wife (who had called the love of his life) died after giving birth. Yes, the writer did rectify that massive mistake with the way April explained to Jackson as to why she and Matthew were separated and everything she said was basically what fans had been thinking when Matthew and April pushed back together. And, of course, we now know April and Jackson are rightfully back together. Now, if they could give Amelia a stable relationship that would be great. I liked her and Kai Bartley, but Kai taking the job they did before discussing it with Amelia at all shows that their feelings for Amelia aren't as deep as they claim and while I do love Owen (especially when he is in badass mode, like when he and Arizona exposed the doctor who was giving cancer treatment to people who didn't have cancer just to get the money) he sucks at relationships because with Cristina and Amelia and Teddy, he has expectations that are always impossible for his love interest to meet, either because they don't want to or because he they are human and he sets standards that are too much. And, personally, I think the show missed the boat when they didn't explore a possible relationship between Cormac Hayes and Jo. Yes, I know he was basically sent by Cristina to be a love match for Meredith, but they seemed to have more of a friendship vibe to me; there was no spark and the fact they had both lost a spouse wasn't enough foundation for a relationship. But Hayes and Jo had several really great scenes together and yes, I said this before, and someone suggested he was too old for Jo (which is insane) but I think they had a spark there he didn't have with Meredith, and he was a good guy who could have been a stable person in Jo's life. Well, that got lengthy...sorry.

Penny & Callie. Why didn't Callie break up with her much sooner, ill never know. So she was supposedly dating her a few weeks before bringing her to Meredith's for dinner. Than even after finding out she lied to her about her role in Derek's death, she wanted to be with her? Like are you kidding me?! Thats not even the worst part though. The worst was how even not after dating for a few months, Callie was willing to uprooted her own and her daughters lives and move across the country. All for Penny? Like really? Callie was willing to take Sophia away from her whole life in Seattle as well as Arizona for what? Definitely one of Callie's worst moments, if not the worst.

Callie was a leap before looking type of person. She jumped into marriage with George without thinking it through or she would have realized it was too soon and then she jumped into a rebound affair with Mark after she and Arizona broke up when Arizona went to Africa (not that I blame her for jumping into Mark's bed 😍) and then she was ready to move across the country for Penny, a woman she had been dating for just a few months, not taking Arizona's feelings into account since they had a child. I mean, I liked Callie, but the writers always made her flighty when it came to her love life.

I super grateful Callie and George got to be a thing because it really was peak entertainment to watch such a catastrophic couple on screen. Teddy and Owen are my worst nightmare, I can't stand them as a couple, the seasons were they were together were awful. Jackson and Stephanie weren't so bad... Like, Jackson and April were the big thing but Stephanie, she was such a good character and they did have chemistry so eventhough we knew it wouldn't work out because of Jackson's feeling for April, a little part of me kept thinking it wouldn't be so bad if he stayed with Stephanie

Owen sort of reminds me of Ted from How I Met Your Mother and how he always tried to make every woman he dated his ideal perfect woman, even when that woman didn't come close to matching what he had in mind. Owen does that. He seems to think every woman he dates should live up to what his ideal image is and when she doesn't, he blames them for failing him when the problem is, he failed to see them for who they truly were.

I think the reason George didn't have chemistry with anyone on the show is because TR Knight is gay and I don't think he played a very convincing straight person. I guess I'm the only one, but I loved George & Izzie. They actually had amazing chemistry, but they backed away from the pairing when they saw so many fans outraged. Too many people already loved Izzie & Alex. Also, to be even more controversial lol.. I wanted Izzie to die in season 6 and be reunited with George in heaven!

You should do a list about the worst reasons couples broke up in Grey's Anatomy. Like Amelia and Link, who broke up because he wanted more kids and marriage and she didn't.

Yes! Initially, Amelia came off like she was okay with being in a long-term relationship with Link. So her not wanting marriage or more kids with him came out of left field. Even when she was talking about having kids with Owen. All of a sudden she doesn’t want children.

They did it just to force her with K*i. The Amelink breakup was glossed over, and Amelia got mad at link for not getting over it. He didn’t get the chance to. Thankfully K*i is gone, so Amelink has a chance someday.

Because this video is about the worst chemistry, some couples should not be on this list, especially ones that were written as flings. Chemistry also means on screen presence, so some couples had chemistry even though they were short lived. 1. Leah and Arizona (shouldn't be on the list. Arizona became slutty after sleeping with another doctor in season 9 and Leah was always needy so it was believable that their fling would start with Arizona calling Leah pretty. Just because we know they are only going to have a fling doesn't mean they don't have chemistry) 2. Callie and Penny (sometimes a lack of chemistry is a result of the actors and sometimes it's a result of the writing. In this case, it was both 3. Jackson and Stephanie (badly written characters. Jackson was never that well written anyway. I thought of him as a fake good guy who had no moral beliefs, except when he didn't operate on a patient who shot up a school. Where was Burke when we needed him?) 4. Shane and Christina (should not be on the list. It was always made clear that Shane only wanted to help Christina relieved stress) 5. Bailey and Eli (disagree with this one. The actors had chemistry and Eli was bossy to other attendings too.) 6. George and Olivia (should not be the list. I found their kissing scenes convincing and the fact that George was in love with Meredith is not a compelling reason to say he didn't have chemistry with someone else. 7. George and Callie (their lack of chemistry had mostly to do with how Callie was written. She was too emotionally attached to a guy she just met) 8. Teddy and Owen (I disagree that they didn't have chemistry. These were two people who didn't know how to work out their problems. This doesn't mean that they didn't have chemistry) 9. Jackson and Maggie (I believe that when actors have chemistry, it's often the result of the actress not being able to sell the relationship, but with these two, I think both actors must have questioned their on screen relationship) 10. George and Izzie (before George slept with Izzie, he laughed at Callie for saying that Izzie wanted him. He said Izzie is hot, a super model, and that reason alone should have been enough not to put these two together, but after the writers did it anyway, it became totally unbelievable that this would lead to these characters thinking they were in love.) Now you could have added Jackson and Lexie to the list. Here you had two good-looking actors who were not believable as a couple and the writers did nothing to convince us that they should be. For the record, you could have added to the list Jackson and anybody he's ever slept with except April. The writers have never tried to explain any of the women he's gotten into relationships with, except for Lexie. Callie and Hahn should have made the list. George and Lexie should have been on the list because that was the relationship that should have happened, and April and Matthew's second relationship should have made the list, because it literally was a result of writing April out of the show. Even Sarah Drew pleaded with the writers to change how April left. She would not end up with Mathew.
